Best online source form a oem timing chain kit?

I just recently did the timing chains and complete cooling system replacement. I sourced everything from FCP Euro, AutohausAZ, and Lucky8. If I had to do it over again, I’d skip the “kit and source everything separately. I’d be happy to share my parts list and experience if you’re interested...

    Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure

Roughly $1700 for just the cooling system components including new radiator and fan clutch. I sourced all the parts from FCPEuro and AutohausAZ.

    Troubleshooting coolant vacuum fill failure

Having just completed the timing chains, along with replacing the front and rear cross over pipes, water pump, thermostat, radiator and every coolant hose in the engine bay, I can empathize with your situation. Mine failed the vacuum test and I couldn’t understand why after checking all the...

    Beep beep

I’ve been dealing with this issue too. It’***** or miss when it occurs, but when it does I just put my gym bag close to the door handle and the doors locks without any issues. It’s annoying, but not at the top of the priority list. Really interested to know what you find out. Good luck...

Replace the VVT Phasers when replacing chains on a '16 LR4

I’m in the process of doing the timing chains, tensioners, injectors, etc., along with a complete refresh of the entire cooling system including front and rear cross over pipes, water pump, thermostat, radiator, fan, and all of the coolant hoses. I’ve debated replacing the VVTs, but haven’t...

Rear Tire Carrier - Any Regrets in Daily Life?

I have the Terrafirma tire carrier on mine. It’s it a hassle compared to not having it on, yes. We use our LR4 multiple times daily for commuting, errands, and kids sports so we’re always accessing the load space and tailgate. Initially we had regrets but we just got use to it and it accepted...

Valve Cover Gasket / Front Timing Cover Questions

Why wouldn’t replacing the gasket with a genuine one work if it’s just an oil leak and nothing else? Just curious as this is on my list of “While I’m in there” things to do when I do the timing chains next weekend.

Looking to purchase timing chain tools

Thanks Longtrail. I would appreciate you sharing your parts list. I’ve been looking at the Lucky8 kit which looks like it’s all genuine LR parts and the Atlantic British kit which doesn’t really specify. In either case, neither includes all of the ancillary items like the crank bolt or front...

Looking to purchase timing chain tools

Thanks for putting this thread together @Longtrail, it’s given me the motivation to do the job myself. Did you replace your fuel injectors and cam variations with with new ones or did you reuse your old parts?

When is it time to say goodbye?

Yeah, I agree. It’s the little things like this that come up that annoy me and want to pull the trigger on a newer Defender or RR. But then I scroll through eBay for parts and realize how cheap these annoyances can be fixed. Keep in mind some of our LR4s are at 15yrs old. My rear camera...

150k miles, time for differential and transfer case fluids

I used Redline when I changed my diff fluids. https://www.redlineoil.com/75w90-gl-5-gear-oil Don’t waste your time or money on the hand held fluid transfer pumps, too cumbersome IMO. Use something like this instead…...

Inner CV joint separated during lower control arm replacement

With both front wheels off the ground, you should be able to rotate the wheel hub while pushing inward on the CV shaft. This should help the teeth on the shaft line up with the CV joint.
