A follow up on this as well as a closure to the issue...it ended up that the warranty company did approve the failure of the timing chain after all; but this warranty company - Warranty Solutions - uses a labor rate factor from a company different than what the dealership used and as a result...
Bad can be open for interpretation by the warranty company; but it is making noise. I did pull up the BBB report on Warranty Solutions out of Denver and of course there are a lot of horror stories.
The warranty is covered by a 3rd party company and I purchased the lifetime warranty when I obtained the car in 2015 from a large used car dealership in the DFW area. The dealership obviously can't say what the warranty company will do.
