Considering an LR4. Would you buy one at 100k mileage?

Hi all I bought my LR$ when it was 3 years old so it will be 12 in march and currently 109 K on the clock and find it is the best vehicle I have ever driven let alone owned. The only probs I have had have been due to poor workmanship at the LR distributors therefore I use an independant who...

    LR4 - LCA - Longevitiy/Diagnostic

Just to add my comments regarding the front lower wishbone bushes. Yes they are loaded with oil and mine were done 2 1/2 yrs ago and are expensive as the complete wishbones were changer as I was informed that you can't just replace the bushes as it closes the Y so you an't refit them. As an...

Just hit 49,000 miles - extended warranty or roll dice?

I have a 10 year old LR4 with 105k on the clock and due to it's complexity I will not run it without a warranty. when I bought it at 3 years old it came with a LR 12 month warranty which I expended by a further 2 years only to find out it wasn't a LR warranty but didn't have any probs claiming...

Change of battery - does the ECU definately need to be reset?

I have an LR$ and can confirm that there is no reset required. I have had the odd time when it wouldn't start and was told to disconnect the battery then reconnect as that resets the system. Mine is now 10 years old and have owned it 7 years with 105 K on the clock and it is the best vehicle I...

LR4 Transmission oil change... mixed feelings.

Having read all the articals I can throw several spanners in the works. When I had the annual serive in march on my LR4 I was advised that next year (year 9) I will have to have transmission oil and filter changed at a cost of £600 plus VAT = £720. He also said that LR recommed this at year 9...

    Tranny and dif oil changes

ZF the gearbox manufacturer recommends auto gearbox fluid to be changed at 100,000 KM (60,000Miles) or earlier if used for towing. LR recommend fluid and filter to be changed at 9 yrs or 144,000 miles. I have a 2010 series 4 discovery with 92 K on the clock.

Living up to its unreliable history

I have a LR4 2010 and bought it at 3 yrs old and yes I have had problems but so far this vehicle has never let me down. In the first few months I had battery failure unly to be told it isn't covered by warranty. having been in forklifts for the last 30 years of my working live I know a few...
