2011 lr4 cliking noises coming through speakers

Is it a clicking or more of a snap like a bug zapper?

2011 lr4 cliking noises coming through speakers

Yeah, I did and problem solved. Have a charger port that shows voltage, best $4 spent on this thing so far. I can monitor voltage real time

2011 lr4 cliking noises coming through speakers

Mine did that when the alternator was spiking. Do your lights strobe at all at night? Headlights or dash lights.

Thought the front end structure was an aluminum casting

The oft forgotten survival optioned front end made of firestarter. Brilliant

Thought the front end structure was an aluminum casting

The RTE bumper and winch were a tight fit, so I added some wiggle room. Allows me to pull/install winch without dropping bumper. Or access the winch's rear wiring and not be right up against the body. Used a tactical 4*4 aluminum washer bottle, so it made it a tight fit to get bumper off and on.

Thought the front end structure was an aluminum casting

Hadn't expected such a large chunk of magnesium. Assumed it was just plain old aluminum. Is it common knowledge that bit is magnesium?

Thought the front end structure was an aluminum casting

Trimming a bit for a winch install. Didn't think the cast part supporting the front was magnesium.....now I know. Was like a big flash bang

$650 rear tire carrier? A new option?

Thanks CRYA. Mounted with four grade 8 1/2" bolts with reinforcement pieces (square 1/4 thick steel). Don't know what they are called, used in blind mounting trailer hitches. Cut a 3*2" square to insert bolts through. Used stripped wire wrapped around thread to pull threaded part through the...

$650 rear tire carrier? A new option?

Was working on this project while this thread was going on. But wanted to have it completed before posting. https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/rear-tire-carrier-any-regrets-in-daily-life.45886/ I wanted a sturdy and easily removable rear carrier. I only wanted to use it when traveling or...

    Latest recommendations for front bumpers?

I've had my RTE bumper in my garage skinning my shins since November. https://rtefab.com All you need is one weekend, or even one day. Decided a few weeks ago ..enough was enough. Keep us posted

    Less intrusive auxillary switches?

Below brake lines. About 4-5" above center of steering shaft opening. Nothing near it on either end, so a safe place to poke a hole. I definitely triple and quadruple checked what was around and was I seeing it correctly!

    Less intrusive auxillary switches?

Just aux lights as of now. Those pics are my ocd...the red wire sticks out visually and I don't like it, :) But yes, just routing photos for reference.

    Less intrusive auxillary switches?

Wanted to add some additional circuits for lighting. Turns out the Auxbeam AS-R60 fits into the console stack pretty neatly. Popped the wood trim off the ashtray and screwed directly to the insert. Bought it from eBay after "watching" then they offered $145 price. Amazon has it for $169. Tapped...

Crazy to consider new engine in a 2016 LR4?

Step 1 should be verification of state of engine by someone who knows these vehicles. Then decide. Might be leaky coolant fitting and torn pcv. ( Much cheaper and easier fix)

Rear Tire Carrier - Any Regrets in Daily Life?

I have wondered if our tire hoists would tolerate the weight of a trailed tank, let alone two.

    Increasing approach angle?

I've seen China copies of the mantech on eBay, anyone bought one? Think it said 5 mm thick. https://ebay.us/m/fgXy7Q I've got a 5/16 aluminum mud tech one that may or may not fit the new bumper. Will be a few weeks to find out. if it doesn't fit, I'll be selling. It''s now painted....black...

Rear Tire Carrier - Any Regrets in Daily Life?

Just because it can be done, doesn't mean it should. The second one, which died an inglorious death via copart, has no flares due to the 35's ripping them off. The first one did do light offroading, but still rubbed. The wheel wells, and suspension don't leave us much room. Over 32-33 you lose...

    Why Compomotives?

Compos were the first alloy ( mud tech too I guess) to be at least 1550kg wheels, 18" AND clear the 5.0 lr4 front brakes. Brake clearance was the biggest factor for its popularity.

    Why Compomotives?

History...as I recall.... In the beginning there were two choices in direct fit alloys made for d3/d4's. Compomotive and mud tech. Mud tech folded, leaving compos, along with terra firma steelies as options. Tuffant came out with steelies, then later the alloys. With evo course dakkars coming...

2011 LR4 micro surges and pulsing headlights

The bad one I got was not regulating correctly. You could visually see the regulator was 1/2 the denso size. Had to peer into the plastic just to see it. Talk to your mechanic, work should be warrantied if only a few months. Ask if you can supply the alternator and get a denso one.

2011 LR4 micro surges and pulsing headlights

Mine showed the correct voltage range most of the time. But would strobe headlights and even spike to 15+v. Is your passenger( is right side) valve cover leaking onto the alternator?

2011 LR4 micro surges and pulsing headlights

Where'd this alternator come from. I had a new chinesium napa one that was broken right out the box. Sounds similar to yours. Only use the denso ones.

TPMS Disabled, but still showing errors?

Have to turn tpms off for all wheels. Truck sees "Spare" as " the fifth wheel. Normally it monitors all four road going wheels and the spare. Now it only sees three road wheels. Or ignore it... I have tpms turned off for all wheels and no errors, or tpms sensors to worry about replacing.
