Looking to buy this LR4, but rattle at cold start. Goes away when warm...
chains will rattle more on warm startup, and rattle less cold. the best test is to listen for the first few seconds on a warm startup, you'll hear the slap. these motors are loud AF bc of the injectors but there's definitely something else going on there. -
Best roof rails and roof rack?
the quick release rails are clutch. I'm probably going to pick up a yakima platform to mount to my bars so I can pop the whole thing on/off easily when its needed. -
At Long Last... Modern head unit!
I have my CarPlay thing plugged in that way on my 2013. its.. fine. I pulled the jack out of the inside of the center console though and have it hooked up all underneath it, so you can't see the plug. I like this big screen solution better than what I have but I need that touch to work over... -

It doesn’t matter. The ZF 6 speed is in every European car.. bmw, jags, MBs, and then of course all the ford 6Rs. Any competent euro shop can do this service. I guess if you live in a state that doesn’t serve many late model euro cars, it can be difficult. -

I don’t have any affiliation besides talking to the guys there while they charged me out the ass for an alignment. The tech did work on freeing up a seized bolt that he probably would have normally just cut out and made me buy a new control arm.. so I give them that. Like anywhere else, it... -

the dealer charges a LOT of hours because they have to drop the crossmember to R&R the factory pan. obviously you've watched the AB videos where they use the Ford pan, but the dealer won't do that. my truck shifted weird after, but I didn't use ZF fluid. I reset the trans values and its back to... -

That service department is actually pretty good in my experience, but they're incorrect. They changed it on my buddy's truck like two months ago when he asked, and you're right it is part of the service. Call back and ask for the service manager, he's a good guy. Just know its like a $600 service. -

I’d be ok with a bigger screen, but I want to use the same “stock” brain. I don’t want to deal with some cheap ass android head unit. So far I’m happy with the alibaba CarPlay thing. -

255/60-19 tires will fit just fine, no rubbing. Pirelli makes a good street tire (I think its the factory Disco5 one) or you can run the Toyo AT3s if you want something aggressive.- mm3846

eh, you'll be fine. those parts are more than likely fine until you pull em out because of the small amount of corrosion that gunks up holding the plastic pieces in place, then you find the weak points and they crumble out. I'm about to turn 60k and I'm not worried. My buddy's 13 is at 80k on... -
Weird suspension fault
I'd say you need to get a more LR focused reader on there and start doing diagnostics. pumping up each corner, etc, to see what will trigger a code. -

If you aren't buying a made in the USA warn, or something crazy like a RED comp winch.. just buy the cheapest winch you can fit with a 10k rating. smittybuilt has a pretty good warranty. -

Roof Rack Wind Noise Help !
that thing is huge. best thing to mitigate the noise is remove it. it'll be close to impossible to quiet a rack down that wasn't designed from the start to be a quiet rack. -

they make skidplates for ROW trucks... you sure its for a LHD truck? -
Particulate on Valves - HELP!!
Fuel injector cleaner won’t clean the valves, and neither will anything else you dump in the fuel tank… the 5.0 is direct injected. You need to run something through the intake and down the valves. -
2011 LR4 Apple CarPlay upgrade?
Did you get the new version that retains the factory Nav? That one is tempting, but its a lot of $$ to upgrade from what I have which works 90% as well as that one. -

there are early LR4s out there with original chains and tensioners on them with high miles. change the oil frequently and you'll be fine. -

it totally depends on what you want to do. what's best for me, may not be for someone else. the short OEM rails will allow you to use most/all of the aftermarket platform systems. -

lowered the seat pretty much all the way down and pumped up the lumbar.. much better. Not perfect, but its a great start. thanks gents. -
The Great Engine Oil Debate
These motors aren’t new tech anymore. Use a quality 5w20 and change it every 7500 miles or less. Mixing oils isn’t something you should do all the time, buts it’s totally fine. -
