Buying an LR4 from a Buick dealer?? Please help

Though it may seem daunting to some people, the timing chain job is not difficult. It can be done by anyone competent with a wrench and I'd go as far to say that any technician at any shop would have zero problem doing it. The 5.0 V8 is a very easy modern motor to work on.

    Towing upgrades

You don't need anything different than factory equipment. XL rated tires and the factory hitch. If you don't want the factory hitch, I'd send a message to Safari Guard and see how long until there's are ready too ship.

    Exhaust solutions?

Post a video when it’s all done. Removing the center resonators completely is too loud for me. Just want a tiny bit more growl on throttle.

    Boot height Q (sleeping inside)

It’s more height than my pickup was with a camper shell, and that was doable on a platform. A couple of long weekends a year? Sure. But I wouldn’t want to live out of anything smaller than a four wheel camper type of deal.

    Transmission Fluid Change

I had a couple weird shifts and the truck stalled on me twice at below 5mph in parking lots. No shuddering/slamming.. seemed more like the computers found a fault with line pressures and didn't know what to do. I never read any codes, but my first drain/refill the trans fluid looked was smelly...

    255/65/19 DuraTrac

everyone running the 255/65s I've talked to said you need a lift, whether it be software or hardware. that and that fact that the spare won't fit is why I went with the 255/60s. It looks bad *** though.

Going to MOAB. Suggestions on a family friendly trail?

Fins N Things is pretty much "the" intro to Moab trail, and you won't have an issue with it. Potash Rd/White rim can be done in a regular old sedan.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Just did this Sunday, took me 4 hours taking my sweet time, from sliding the jack under the truck to parking it after the test drive. I was so happy to get the lube locker gasket, I’ve been using them on diffs since high school and it makes these jobs so easy. The new pan has two drain plugs it...

The old ones yea, but you’re outside your mind if you think a modern one is going to be better than the AJV8.

    Would you buy this LR4?

The timing chain may never have to be replaced. It comes up a lot more often on forums than it does in real life. Frequent oil changes prevent the issues that wear the guides out. Plenty of people driving these motors with 200k on them on the original parts. The control arms are a wear item. at...

    Would you buy this LR4?

Thats just the Dubai car market. Second hand luxury vehicles go cheap because everyone wants that new jam.

    Would you buy this LR4?

without hesitation. he cut the service intervals by half or more. if you were in the states I'd be buying to flip it because that's a $30k truck here right now.

    ARB dual compressor mounting?

You can mount the single one behind the passenger headlight using a bracket made for the Prado. https://www.kaon.com.au/arb-rear-air-compressor-mounting-bracket-to-suit-p Haven't done it yet, but that's my plan.

Looking for a 19" off road tire.

Yup, the duratracs are a decent tire for a bit, then they are real screamers once you wear down the first 30-40%. Sidewalls are weak, too. The Goodyear adventures aren't the best either, lots of reviews on jeep forums about them. the Kevlar MTRs are a good tire, but not available in 19"

Looking for a 19" off road tire.

Yea, they 18s are P rated, surprising they don't offer a LR E in that size.

Looking for a 19" off road tire.

No reprogram, its barely a noticeable change. My truck is 90% street driven but most of the off-road stuff I do is on the beach so I wanted the extra sidewall. If I could have gotten a milder treaded tire I would have, but there isn't anything comparable except goodyears which IMO are garbage...

Are all terrains really necessary for even mild offroading?

Go out and start wheeling. If you find the tires inadequate, replace them. If not, carry on.

    Gas Tank not filling up

Mine only came up small evap leak. They're both cheap and easy enough to replace to give it a shot.

    Gas Tank not filling up

I replaced the purge valve and DMTL pump and that worked for me. I still get a CEL that pops up for EVAP, so I might have to replace the charcoal canister eventually but I haven't had any issues fueling since replacing those parts.

Gas smell after driving. No error codes. No visible leaks.

The part from the dealer is $120-140, and I’d reckon 4 hours book time. My local dealer is $199 an hour.
