    Tracking down suspension leak

Fwiw, the part the dealer was offering LR044836 was #18 it looks like because #20 is the VOSS connector...

    Tracking down suspension leak

Yeah, was just posting about an O-ring discovery and that they don't need lube (wasn't sure lol) and they can lose their elasticity over time which causes them to fail. So it might be a combination of the powder residue and O-Rings getting long in the tooth.

    Most popular injector puller?

Yeah, the battery box. It looks to clear up a bunch of space. A mechanic did my valve covers so I was curious how hard it was to gain access to the mounting bolts. As an aside, with a LSx engine, there is one cam so trade-offs are made to gain low RPM vs high RPM when selecting the profile. I...

    Tracking down suspension leak

Evidence shows that the fitting is not leaking because both L&R rear sides dropped together with the battery unplugged instead of just that one corner. I didn't know that before but I see reality now. I'm thinking about taking apart the rear valve block and cleaning the O-Rings, seats, the...

    Most popular injector puller?

How did you get to the valve cover bolts, does removing the box give you access to the bolts on the exterior parameter?

I'm looking to replace the brass air line connector in the pic below. It mates the air line to the air strut. The dealer gave me PN LR044836 for $69. Price seems right for a brass fitting (j/k) but the part doesn't look right...

    Locking Fuel Door

The Brits are more trusting? Mine doesn't lock either and haven't thought about it until now. But every other modern vehicle I've owned had a release from the inside, much like the hood or hatch releases. I worry more about the latch mechanism breaking and not gaining access than theft.

Buying Used LR4 versus Mercedes G550

Ultimate heavy-duty toughness, long-term abuse in harsh environments, easier field repairs and a lot of times unibodies are completely disposable in an accident, extreme modding, customization, restoration, heavy towing stress over time (torsion) and framed vehicles feel more stable under heavy...

    Tracking down suspension leak

All 4 bags are original, 126k mi. on them now. Yesterday I had it in 4X4 mode leveled with doors shut and then turned it off with battery disconnected. This morning fired it up, hit 4X4 mode standing outside and shut the door. The rear came up some. I think the VOSS fitting on the RR air line to...

Buying Used LR4 versus Mercedes G550

The problem with the rust is the metal and treatment before assembly. They were once hand assembled. But when it starts to rust in a given spot, the whole panel section needs to be replaced because the rust comes back. But there are plenty of instances of no-rust G's, I've seen them in Vegas...

    Tracking down suspension leak

Over a few days my '12 suspension will have dropped with the battery unplugged. The drop will occur both in normal mode and 4X4 height where in the latter mode it will drop down past normal mode. Its not one corner, but usually front or both front and rear depending on the duration of time. Its...

Buying Used LR4 versus Mercedes G550

Its really a budget decision. In the end I have zero regrets. My budget was $30k and paid $15k for my V8 LR4 in 2023. I'd love a G55 with the supercharged engine and 5 speed. The only significant feature the G has over the LR4 capability wise is the locker controls and having a fully locked...

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

Yeah, it was hot for the time but beautiful. I think the warmer gas in the tanks might have been triggering the symptoms. The recent heat wave record we had the other week of 5 days of all time record breaking heat I jumped into the CO river while it was up since that is where I buy gas, bunch...

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

I installed the new Purge Control Valve last week, $230 or so with shipping. Then I started filling up the tank in Arizona to try to replicate some of the problems. The thing is the weather has cooled off, it was only about 90-100F but at a 1/4 tank remaining it took 12.2 gallons. Seemed kinda...

    Wind, trees, alpine roof...oh my

Yeah, its a shame. I was asking gemini about Land Rover stuff and it pointed to VelocityAP I think it was out of Canada. They had dynographs for some of their Land Rover tunes that looked impressive for the 5.0L SC V8. Flat long torque curve, lots more power under the curve to 6,500 RPM. But...

According to wikipedia, its the BV58 engine that is also in the BMW M3 with 523 HP and 479 lb⋅ft. For the Grenadier, they detune the engine before installation. So that probably means the drive train may not be a good candidate for additional power, unlike the the LR4 with the same drive train...

There was a refresh recently and MT did an article on it https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/jonny-lieberman-first-test-2026-ineos-grenadier It has 37 ECU's vs a G wagon has 150 ECU's. I've seen the Genadier around and think they look tight. If they wanted a 6 banger Stellantis Hurricane is what...

If BMW puts that engine in a coupe then it probably will get some aftermarket support for it. The LR4 V8 has 375 HP 375 FT. LBS. and to match it they would need 100 HP out of it by turning up the boost and tuning it. Some of the V6's these days are putting out impressive power, like in the RAM...

I love my '12 HD. All D4 years are built strong with a hydroformed steel ladder frame. There is a D5 refresh coming out that is 1/2 azz. I'd like to see Land Rover do a body-on-frame design with a gasser V8 and no hybrid tech.

    Showoff Your LR4

First pic was taken standing on the bottom of the 2nd washout trench that the LR4 needed to back down through after getting stuck hill climbing. Getting out of the first washout leg Now stuck in the second leg that was twice as deep as the first. Eventually got out but went nearly full...

    Clunking noise, only in gear

Oh that is horrible lol. It sounds like the timing to light the air/fuel mixture is wrong. Look for a plug in the engine bay that isn't where it should be or is unplugged and look at the air intake channels too.

Look at tune because those codes could mean the A/F ratio is wrong. Look at the knock and knock ****** PIDs too because if it is running lean it can lead to engine damage.

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

That is a great deal, thank you. I did notice there are quite a few PN's but the way I'm looking at it is hopefully there is only one Purge Control Valve per vehicle mounted near the engine valve cover and the wizard on that site verified it fits my year/model. I did a visual part and picture...

    Summer Tire (on-road/offroad) shopping

For the traction advantage of PZeros, I had assumed that its possible that traction management might be dialing back power if you were to floor it from a standstill. Say at a red light you line up next to a sport bike. Plenty of room and nobody is around and you want to run him. That launch...
