I still get an intermittent burning smell while I have the heater on but I’ve always had it for as long as I can remember so I assume it’s just the heater. Since I live in California I only notice this in the winter. some times I’ll notice it after I get on the gas a little and I assume that my...
Interesting… yesterday I watched it crank and build pressure slowly to 2000psi during the first crank. Turned right over on the second one but the rpm went straight to 1500 rather then going up to 2000 rpm on start then doing the warm up idol 1500 rpm. Today I did a cold start after 5 hours of...
Looks like what I’m observing is pretty normal then. Is there a live value for the low pressure fuel pump that I can see? Is it possible it’s not priming enough? would that make sense even if it was driving perfect apart from cold starts?
Now that I think about it I might have been smelling a little bit of exhaust and mistaken it for fuel upon first start up. Do you think the 40psi difference would be enough to make the difference of a 3 second crank and a 10 second crank? Or do you think it’s not fuel system related? Starter...
No. Heres the whole run down, when the car is idoling normally fuel pressure fluctuates from 418-425 psi. While the car is running the “fuel rail pressure desired” reads 0. Only when the car turns off does it desire 1450 psi which tells me the car is supposed to build to at least that amount of...
Ok so over the past couple weeks I’ve been able to narrow it down to a leaky fuel rail. Every time I open the driver door I hear the low pressure pump prime and the car has no trouble while running or driving (doesn’t stall no hesitation no weird misfires) so it can’t be high pressure either...
When I turn off the car the fuel pressure tends to build up a bit but by the time I get into it aftwr it’s been sitting for a while the car only has 50ish psi of pressure
I can tell as time goes on it’s getting worse, every time I leave the truck out side for over a 3 hour period of time the truck cranks for 4ish seconds in 61°F weather. Still couldn’t find any low pressure fuel pump live values. Any other suggestions on how I should track this issue down. Do you...
Not sure, couldn’t really find a live value for the low pressure, only the desired. Is there one under a different category or one that I missed that will show live low pressure data.
Ok so came back to the car after letting it sit and the first thing I did was check the live values before starting the car. With the battery on I was able to see that my current fuel rail pressure after letting the car sit was 53.7 psi while the desired fuel pressure was 1450 psi. When I...
It’s just odd. I was up in mammoth for a couple of days while it was 20 F and the car started fine the whole trip. Yet when I was up in Santa Clarita aftwr it rained it cranked for the longest time and finally turned over. Just did it again this afternoon after it had sat for about 5 hours. I...
It’s not slow, I’ve heard it crank faster but it’s not slow to where I think it’s a battery issue. It’s more of a medium speed but a normal health speed given the lower temperatures.
Could be. I did notice that in below 32 F weather that the voltage would not go up from 12.2 V aftwr starting the car until I pulled away and RPMs were raised from idle. Today it wasn’t particularly cold, it just rained all last night and when I started the car for the first time it was probably...
As weather began to get colder I started to notice that my car would occasionally take longer to crank over. Can’t find any correlation or connection between weather and how long it cranks, seems to be more of a random occurrence and usually on the first start of the day but didn’t have issues...
Ok so I’ve got some more weird variations in the votage. Upon starting in snow conditions the voltage tents to sit at 12-12.4. The votage tends to go right up to 13-14 as soon as the car is moved or the engine is reved but the votage likes to sit low when stationary and upon cold start. Is that...
Had my front sway bar endlinks done about 35k miles ago yet I noticed some seepage coming from the top bushing that connects to the upper control arm on the front left endlink. If I get my finger inside of where the rubber folds over myself I can feel the inside of the link. Checked for play in...
How much above 1500 and how many seconds? On every cold start that my car has it idles at 1500 to get the oil circulated and then drops down <1k rpms. All of our trucks should do that.
