    New engine noise

Probably did the maintenance himself to save money, or took it to another shop. You’d have serious sludge buildup and would’ve probably went through a chain or engine if it was actually ran for 40k on the same oil.

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

Definitely agree, I’ll pinpoint the leak before replacing anything. Would anything else cause the Freon smell to come inside the cabin?

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

I never got faults for blender doors, plus the fact that all vents would blow cold ac when it was less hot out and when the blower motor was turned down makes me think it is something with the actual system. My thought is that I could’ve had a possible faulty expansion valve (at least for the...

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

been thinking about my issue a lot recently, would it make sense that a bad compressor would cause multiple zones to blow different temperatures? at least to me, i thought that a bad compressor would make all of them go at the same time? on another note would i get a code for a bad expansion...

    becoming collectible

This is a super impressive spec. Lux, Extended leather, HD package, adaptive cruise control. I think this one has every option except for rear seat entertainment. Plus with the bonus of low mileage and the garage kept. Super impressive. Price makes sense, you don’t see these anymore.

    Can't get into Extended mode

My advice is if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. My rear air struts are still original with 146k on the clock. They work great. Front and compressor have been done. My experience is that they tend to leak a little before completely blowing. If you want to test for leaking all you do is put the car...

    My new LR4 Journey

Awesome, excited to see how the project goes, I’ve heard it’s incredibly hard to retrofit the rear locker, however with the correct wisdom and knowledge contributions from everyone on the forum I think it’ll be a hell of a project. I wish you good luck on this new journey

    New engine noise

mine makes that noise sometimes too. it goes away most the time, i always though it was a little bit of chain rattle before thinking rod knock. beside the point, if it was rod knock my oil filter would've been full of metal and its not. I agree it is weird but I've never stressed out over it too...

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

My first one was dead at around 110k but didn’t lock up. second one died 10k after the first from seizing. If your ac is still blowing cold strong don’t take it for granted

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

Think I put around 12-15k miles on it and then the compressor locked up and tore the serpentine belt. They claimed it was contaminants in the system and said to replace the condensor which I did. But still the system never functioned like brand new. Ironically if I remember properly, the rear...

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

Yup I have that same issue as well. Never seen a code for the blower motor. Cabin filter has been replaced less than 10k miles ago and the car is garaged. Also losing a bit of coolant but don’t think that’s related. Keep in mind it used to blow cold in all zones if it’s not super hot out and I...

Chasing an HVAC issue and I need some help here...

Did anyone ever figure this out, my Freon is finally drained (there is a code) and my ac does not work. I live in California and the car is black so having a working AC is mandatory. With that being said let me explain the history. In 2020 my AC compressor was finally replaced and although it...

Question for anyone who has done the Valve Cover Gaskets on their V8 LR4

Is it necessary to pull the air conditioning lines that sit over the LH valve cover? Trying to avoid removing as many unnecessary items as possible. thanks!

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

I’m really sorry about the news. That’s super unfortunate to hear. Did you ever notice any over heating issues?

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

137k. The truck has been in California its whole life facing hills and mountains in hot heat, plus with 6000 pounds to push around and an AWD system putting more load on it, I wasn’t surprised.

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

I have to do both of mine this summer and reseal my upper timing covers. The hard part is pulling the injectors and buying the tool to do so. Then since your pulling them you might as well get them cleaned.

LR4 - Coolant Under Pressure When Cold

head gasket... sorry to be the bearer of bad news. these are all just classic bad head gasket symptoms. I believe you can buy a tester kit to put on top of the expansion tank and it will turn a fluid a certain color if there are exhaust gasses in the coolant. thats the first thing I would do...

My 2012 LR4 is not starting anymore, help please

when you say "won't start" how long are you cranking it for? did the issue suddenly appear or did it happen and then start taking longer and longer? any codes?

    Long crank, no faults

Coming back to this, mine burned up too! I rewired it but need to go back and do it in a better way to avoid heat. Did you ever find the root?

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

I’ve had mine done when my trans blew. Wouldn’t even touch one unless you already have to remove the trans. In another note, the D5 with the SCV6 that my parents have had to get one done at 30k miles under warranty, that one was probably just bad luck tho.

Greasy transmission, should I be worried?

Definitely valve cover, I have the same thing because my valve covers are shot. It drips down the back of the engine while driving.

    5.0 metal rear coolant manifold

Weird… my front one never went bad (before it was replaced) it was the rear crossover that blew up with no warning.

Pulling injectors for valve cover gasket, can I avoid it?

Ok so is final Verdict that you have to pull injectors when you pull the valve cover? You can’t just rotate them? Will it mess up the seals?

Different oil level readings with hood open

do you guys ever use the "oil level calculated" value in the IID tool? When I do an oil change I measure that value right 20 mins after changing the oil and then I will occasionally check that value when the car is cold, fill it a bit, start the engine and run it for 5 seconds and then shut it...

Pulling injectors for valve cover gasket, can I avoid it?

this is what I was wondering, if i rotate them could I pull it off or will it compromise the seal? I really want to avoid pulling them, I've heard the nightmares of others and I haven't had issues with the injectors throughout the entire life span of my engine. plus if i do pull them then i face...
