Oh, crap! Even tho I’m still under warranty it’s a 1 1/2 hr drive to a wretched dealer. It’s another 40 minutes to the next one.
My “resting” voltage is 12.2-12.3. When I start, it drops to 11 but within a second it’s up to 12.5.
I’ve only made very local trips recently and it’s been bloody...
Since new, the clock on my 2016 always seemed to lose time, maybe a minute every few months. Then began slowing down faster a few months ago. About a minute every two weeks or so. Rate of slowing increasing, now it’s a minute every 3 days.
The last time I reset it it switched to zulu time by...
Well, LR or no LR, when there’s a layer of snow and ice on the interstate I’m not gonna go 70+ to check out new brakes.
There’s a difference between “driving” and “driving to check brakes” that maybe Yugo owners in ND don’t realize.
Thanks! I just got vehicle back and saw new calipers thru wheels. Duuhh-sometimes my head gets in the way!
Can’t yet test drive it. It’s 1 degree and roads have an inch of snow still on them.
Maybe salt but the NE dealers claim this isn’t a known problem and I had the calipers cleaned and lubed in summertime and they still hung up. Also, there hasn’t been a large forum response with the same problem.
We’ll see. My car is due back in half an hour or so. I’m gonna take it to my indie...
Try penetrating oil first. Put a few drops in every day for a week or two. Patience is necessary for penetrating oil!
I use Kroil penetrating oil. It’s the best stuff I’ve ever found.
If you can get purchase with an extractor it’s only the rust and crud holding it in and the Kroil will deal...
Yeah, Krill, the Brembos are pricy and that’s without labor! My days of doing that stuff are long gone. It remains an option since I have the 20 inch wheels.
LR Bedford left a message late Friday saying they’re replacing both wheels’ calipers and that the vehicle will be returned tomorrow...
Nope, I never heard of them, but then again I’m no longer a car guy. The last car I seriously worked on myself was my MGA and that was ca 1960. I can prob still balance the intake on dual Strombergs.
If this dealer “fix” doesn’t work I’ll look into Brembo for the LR.
Well I had another long talk with LR NA. Didn’t sound like they were gonna do anything. I called LR Bedford this AM to ask status and was told that “they felt the right rotor was warm too so they ordered a replacement caliper”.
So maybe I’ll get it back on Tuesday which is two weeks. And I’ll...
Well, the saga continues.
Early last week I had LR roadside assistance take the car to my nearest dealer, LR Bedford NH. They wouldn’t give me a Loaner and I heard nothing from them for days. I finally called them and they pretended to know nothing of the history of the problem. After a few...
Thank you all.
It got taken away this AM to the Bedford MA dealer.
Lookin back on my records, they replaced left front rotor a year and a half ago. Six months later the seizing started. Same wheel.
LR roadside assistance sent it there cuz they were closest.
I’ve had other issues with...
Will having had my indie clean them up void the warranty?
Are brakes even covered under warranty?
My indie cleaned and lubed the pins twice. There’s gotta be something else wrong
Dealer’s two hours away. I don’t dare drive it down
20” wheels, both sets OEM. it first happened with my factory tires on factory rims. Then I changed to snows on OEM rims and it kept happening.
Shop is local best eurocar guy. Wheels balanced.
This has become a chronic problem with my 2016 that has about 22k miles..
The front calipers sometimes don’t release and I begin to smell them thru the vents.
The rotors get scorching hot.
The first time it happened was a few thousand mikes ago and my local indie took them apart, lubed and...
If I look hard and concentrate I see many D5s.
The problem is they’re well camouflaged. They look like so many other vehicles that unless you’re looking for them specifically they’ll go right by.
Unnoticed.
I’m still wondering what the mechanic could have done to cause this. Put sand in the tranny? You seem certain that something was done to ruin you vehicle.
What possible scenarios are there that a mechanic could do to result in this?
Maybe I just don’t get it. What specifically do you think the...
I’ve noticed that when I start and the engine idles at 1200 if I just momentarily put it into reverse and quickly out again the rpm drops to 600 whether or not the engine has warmed up.
Perhaps you could try quickly putting it in/out of gear and see if the rpm goes to normal.
The BBB isn’t worth much unless a business is a notorious crook, but you might first check to see if there are complaints. Is he rated online?
Now here’s something I can’t amswer but it might be important.
What could he have possibly done, assuming he wasn’t being malicious?
