    Defender v Bronco v Wrangler

Really? This is a horribly biased video with complete apples to oranges comparison based on trim levels. You have the top off road packages versus probably the worst off road spec defender. They even admit in the video they couldn’t buy a defender spec’d the way they wanted, but you can grab a...

32” tire and gap tool suspension setting

I ran that size Duratracs before I bumped up to 265/70/18 Cooper S/T Maxx. I ran into a little rubbing at full lock on the bumper on the drivers side on flat ground. There’s definitely some slop in how the inner fender is mounted to the bumper cover that can be adjusted. I did a little tweaking...

2020 defender off road pack - rear locker

Well yes, you’d control it with a switch, but beyond that nothing else would be needed. While an older vehicle, the LR3 uses software to control all of the same functions and they successfully use an ARB in those. The electronics just won’t see any slippage from the back wheels and will assume...

2020 defender off road pack - rear locker

Yeah, we’ll see how the aftermarket treats this platform. Hopefully it gets some support because LR put so much effort into its off-road ability. I’m sure it would be extremely difficult to integrate, but I’m not sure why you’d need to.

2020 defender off road pack - rear locker

I think your best bet will be to wait for the ARB to become available. It’s pretty difficult to add the factory locker to the LR3 (but possible), I can’t imagine it’s gotten any easier!

    Air suspension reliability?

LR3 owner here, I bought a 2006 with a s l o w compressor. I found out it was worn out because the front struts had pinhole leaks. When I replaced them their build date was 2005 and the vehicle had 180k on it. As previously stated, the air struts wear out just like coils. The “problem”...

    Oversize tires for 2020 Defender

Not to step on any toes, but I’ve never been impressed with the ridge grappler as a serious off road tire. They look cool, but seem to fall short on performance. If you’re looking for mud tires check out the Cooper SST Pro. My son has 31’s on his Samurai and they are the quietest mud tire I’ve...

    Oversize tires for 2020 Defender

I had to chuckle when I read this part... In the LR3 world, everyone is adamant you NEED E-rated tires! E-rated tires are rated for over double the GVWR of the the 3. I have had one person in 4 years agree that E is overkill. Plus few seem to grasp that an E rating does not guarantee a truly...

    Tailgate weight rating

The cables may take the bulk of the load, but not the complete load. Especially if the weight is inside of the cables, like it was in my case, right on the hinges. It’s not the hinges that bent, it’s the actual body causing the hinge to tip down ever so slightly. Given the length of the hinge...

    Tailgate weight rating

It’s actually the body where the hinge mounts. The top of the hinge mount tips back which then lowers the tailgate when it’s closed, if that makes sense. When it’s off it’s an act of timing a two handed tug when you hit the switch to open it. To fix it I open the gate and place a 2x4 between the...

    Tailgate weight rating

I don’t know what the capacity is, but after using the tailgate several times on my LR3 to hoist my spare on to the roof rack, I now get significant sagging. I’m 190ish and the spare has to be north of 100lbs. The issue it causes is hard opening. I bend it back occasionally, but the damage is...

    Oversize tires for 2020 Defender

Right, which is why he was asking what could be done to convert it to a P300 brake spec.

    Oversize tires for 2020 Defender

He was talking about the P400 where the 18” factory wheel is not an option.

Oversize tires and pressures on- and off-road

There are so many frickin’ variables on this topic it makes your head spin! I’ve got the Cooper S/T Maxx and they’re amazing. Don’t let anyone detract you from your choice. I’ve noticed the BFG fanboys are a lot like Toyota fanboys. They believe the hype and think they’ve got THE best and...

    Gas Tank not filling up

I’m you’ve already tried, but does it help to pull the nozzle out a little? I had an old square body Chevy that if you didn’t have the nozzle in just a certain way it would never fill. I’ll have random times with my 3 that the pump will click off and I’ve got to remove the nozzle just a touch.

    Spare tire mount accessories

I’ve never seen one with the tire off, how is it not flat? I’m sure it could be made flat with a cutting wheel and grinder.

    Spare tire mount accessories

For a Jerry can you could use a universal spare tire mount Jerry can tray. A quick internet search found a few options. Do you REALLY need a hi-lift? Unless you’ve got steel bumpers and/or sliders you’ve got nowhere to lift the vehicle.

    Roof Rack Roof Top Tent

I’ve always liked the look of the prospeed. It kind of has the look of the factory rack, but much lower profile. Ultimately I made my own. It was sufficient to get my RTT home and drive around for a week or so until my trailer was ready. Really all you NEED for the RTT is something with a large...

    Voyager Rack Ladder Nightmare

All these manufactures seem to think powder coating is the cat’s meow and it’s horrible for this type of application. When you get a nick in the finish, the steel starts to rust underneath the powder coat. The powder coat itself is so hard it retains its shape and you don’t know what’s happening...

What is the BEST wheel size/tire dimensions combination for All-Terrain use in the 2006 LR3?

There is no metric to compare sidewalls that I am aware of. It’s hard to find, if it’s even available, the sidewall construction of a given tire. Trial and error, or the advice of people in the know is the way to go.

What is the BEST wheel size/tire dimensions combination for All-Terrain use in the 2006 LR3?

My last post was not a straw man argument, it’s hyperbole. And I do understand your argument. You are assuming that sidewall “strength” (toughness, cut ristence, etc.) is somehow correlated to it’s ability to carry a certain load. It’s not. It’s foolish to assume and bad advice to give. If one...

What is the BEST wheel size/tire dimensions combination for All-Terrain use in the 2006 LR3?

What is a bias ply and what are they biased against!

What is the BEST wheel size/tire dimensions combination for All-Terrain use in the 2006 LR3?

*palm slaps face* Let’s circle back to an argument that’s not valid. Go ahead, get some load range H truck tires, they’ve gotta be extra super tough for perfect off road use since load range is your indicator of sidewall strength! :dontknow:

What is the BEST wheel size/tire dimensions combination for All-Terrain use in the 2006 LR3?

So, careful selection is better than an E rating. Thank you.

What is the BEST wheel size/tire dimensions combination for All-Terrain use in the 2006 LR3?

I’m not sure why your so apologetic about Goodyear. It’s not like it hurts my feelings, I just don’t want people to have the same experience. Key takeaway: If you run in rocks, consider MT/Rs or some other brand. To your test idea. Random tires, maybe. Conversely, I suspect one could...
