Changing from Low to high and vise-versa while moving?

I'm looking forward to learning how to shift into low. Shifting to high sounds easier because when going into low there are more constraints. A minimum speed of 2 MPH and in parallel the vehicle speed needs to be declining. Maybe there is a check to deny the switch to low the speed is between 0...

Measure the O2 output from a OBD2 reader and compare it with the other side. If its lean then you'll know when its fixed because the numbers will change w/out needing to wait for the light to come on.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Wow, that is a serious knock problem. Its strange that it didn't progress and that one day it was fine and the next it was there. I'm curious about the benefit of the new 2013 vs a reman engine. Does it have a better body on it?

Either backing off the star wheel worked around the problem or the rock fell out because the problem isn't reproducing anymore.

Changing from Low to high and vise-versa while moving?

The owners manual says that only experience off-roaders should do it. I've been stopping first and then make the change in Neutral. It would be more convenient to switch while rolling. What are the risks of changing the transfer case from 4Hi to 4Lo and back while moving? Is there risk of it...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

Conventional oil meets spec and the manual doesn't say specifically to use synthetic. Yes, I know people put synthetic in it.

It is not overthinking it to consider using non-synthetic.

Not even close. I looked hard at buying one and was shopping for about 3 months. I didn't want to pay overinflated values for a 4Runner and the XTerras are just as reliable. Then a LR4 came up on Craigslist and I stopped looking at anything other than LR4's after I test drove it.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

I looked at the specs to see if I've been buying the right oil and Mobil 1 isn't meeting the Ford spec WSS M2C925-A called out in the manual. I was curious if I could run regular non-synthetic oil and just change it at 3K like I've done twice already. Interestingly, the owners manual reads "In...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

I've never heard of it, but if you like the European oil then you might like Liqui Moly. Its German and a lot of people suggested it to me once I stepped into the Land Rover world. I buy Mobile 1 only because I can get it cheaper off the shelf.

Noise coming from left rear area

Thanks for the input. I approached the problem today with and decided to back-off the star wheel. That was something I could do here and now because I need to keep driving it. I will need to attempt to pull the rotor off again before making an appointment for someone else to fix it. I have a 10...

For the cost of a new remain all said and done you could buy a Nissan Pro-X4 with a rear locker. Japanese reliability, body on frame and they were offered with a manual transmission.

Noise coming from left rear area

I think you are right because the wheel isn't loose when in the air. In addition, I called a shop for a bearing quote and he thought it wasn't a bearing because the issue replicated at 5 MPH and he thought that bearing symptoms normally occur at higher speed. Either way, I will need to take it...

Noise coming from left rear area

I was thinking about pulling the ebrake to exercise it, but I didn't get around to it. I'll need to try that and see if there is any change in noise. I tried to pull the rotors off months ago, but they were stuck on there and I came to the conclusion that I needed a software switch adjustment in...

Labor is anywhere from $5k at the lowest to $7k to $12k and then there are parts that will need to be replaced (likely) while they are in there like a radiator, belts, hoses, maybe engine mounts and things that need to transfer over from the old engine might need replaced. I have the HD...

Noise coming from left rear area

While driving off-road today I started to hear a noise. It seems like maybe a wheel bearing, but I've never had one go bad. I recorded a vid of it. The first occurence the terrain is flat, but at the end I drove over a washout section (It doesn't look at all like that in the vid) and the noise...

Gorilla responded to my availability request with the same part number 75148R RANGE ROVER MAG 7/8" 14-1.50 CHR BULK. "You can purchase these through online retailers like Summit Racing, SFX Performance, 4Wheel Parts, eBay as well as Wheel Pros"

    steering clunk: upper U-Joint?

Did you check the ball joints and tie rods? I have steering clunks on rough roads, but the noise is in the inside of the cab. The steering column sounds loose asf. I have a lot of faith in the mechanism that maybe I shouldn't have lol.

    Lug nut quality?

I contacted Gorilla to get help with their product because it sounds like they have a one-piece design in chrome. I'm not sure what part number or who their authorized resellers are. Lots of knock-offs out there for auto parts.

    Lug nut quality?

I tracked a noise to what I think is the lug nuts vibrating making a loose washer sound on rough road. Will they get looser and break or are they fine? 16 of 20 are like that.

    LR081581 vs LR072689

I would think the dealer has access to that detail if they want to find it. I found this site that has offsets, no idea if its correct though. https://www.wheel-size.com/size/land-rover/lr4/2012/ It has my rims as 51-55

    LR081581 vs LR072689

In the future I was thinking about going to 18" rims to get the BFG KO2s, but having the wrong rim offset can cause pre-mature bearing wear. People like the tuff ants but they don't sound like the correct offsets. Ideally Id get polished aluminum rims, but those aren't very popular at all.

Having the right offset is critical. The tuff ant wheels have an offset of 27.
