I was thinking about pulling the ebrake to exercise it, but I didn't get around to it. I'll need to try that and see if there is any change in noise. I tried to pull the rotors off months ago, but they were stuck on there and I came to the conclusion that I needed a software switch adjustment in the GAP tool. But when I looked at a wheel bearing replacement video, I just saw one star wheel with the rotor off and no need for the GAP tool. However, it may have been an LR3.
I will need to try to remove the rear rotors again because if its a brake shoe problem, that is way better than a bad bearing as long as it isn't stuck against the drum. 4hrs labor, $200 in parts and $1100 total for one rear bearing replacement was the quote I got today for it.
If the shoes are de-laminating, would that cause the rotor to get stuck on the hub after backing off the star wheel?
