All Weather or Snow Tires ?

Your concern is correct as the tyres really should be the XL load range. I did have that in my previous 18" Pirelli Ice and Snow in the 235/65 R18 XL 110H size so the question is valid. About all I can say is that this time I wanted All Weather; my 3 is a grocery getter so rarely gets much of...

All Weather or Snow Tires ?

30 inch OD Toyo Celsius CUV (Cute Utility Vehicle) tyres P235/65R18 For the past ten years or so, I have had summer tyres on my 19" rims and snow tyres on my 18" rims. Getting older, I got tired of the twice a year changeover so I purchased "All Weather" tires of the 235/65R18 size. This will...

2011, 66k miles, flat battery issues

It might be that my post #21 above where every few months I put my starting battery on a CTEK "trickle" charger might also apply to other than a cold type country.

Fluctuating RPM's at constant throttle (throttle hunting, surging, gear hunting)

Well actually the aluminum block might need the cooling one day - sourcing the Jag V8 is not quite the same as going to the junk yard and yanking a Chev 350. I regard the cooling system as a big deal - that is one reason I replace that bleeder tee as a maintenance item, kind of like an oil...

Fluctuating RPM's at constant throttle (throttle hunting, surging, gear hunting)

As I recall, the fan noise was at low speed but usually upon speeding up, (50 kph or so), the noise would soon stop. It was quite a few years back now so I do not recall all the circumstances but I know the fan roar was noticeable in the cabin and that it would eventually quit, only to often...

Fluctuating RPM's at constant throttle (throttle hunting, surging, gear hunting)

I had to replace my what I call the electro-viscous fan; more complicated than the usual viscous fan in that it includes an electric clutch. Anyway, mine tended to stay on so loud fan noise when driving - would often uncouple but when it would not, loud whirring noises from the engine...

    Instrument panel

You do not really say what the problem is but I presume it is dim or something like that. The is a single electrical connector in the rear of the instrument cluster. The cable to the cluster receptacle is a bit short, and over time, the pulling by the cable slightly disconnects some of the...

    LR3 with NO radio/CD volume

One size fits all - well when I have a radio / entertainment / nav problem, I do a hard reset per below. For the most part, the reset has got the system going again. At such time as the hard reset does not work, then I will be in real difficulty. Hard Reset Instructions In brief, to start...

Fluctuating RPM's at constant throttle (throttle hunting, surging, gear hunting)

Per my post #12, I was having somewhat similar concerns re my 2005 LR3 re the tranny and shifting, but in cold weather only. Rather than a tranny problem, I decided it was probably a temperature sensor problem - cheaper to think that - so in Feb of 2018 I changed out the engine oil temperature...

    Speakers not working

I guess I do not know much about the amplifier under the passenger seat as to date, on my 3, it is still working. It sounds like this red light is on your amp somewhere or is the light on the dash? At any rate, a hard reset fixes more problems than it creates and costs nothing so good luck.

Is it possible to upgrade rear camera ?

I have an LR3 and I replaced the backup lights with LED bulbs. They were nothing special, but they certainly put out more light and hence at night when backing up, the camera displays well. Also one can see more thru the mirrors, (the old way). It was what I call a cheap and easy upgrade...

    What LR??

Regardless, the vehicle has a good looking purposeful silhouette - and LR cannot seem to figure out what to replace the Defender with. They already have the answer, and it works - no development costs for what would be a low volume vehicle, and it still looks current.

So here is why after owning (4) Land Rovers I don't think I will ever own one again.

I think the bigger question is why does LR continue to have problems everyone else has solved? How do they manage that?

    Accessory connections and firewall access

I see you are not getting much in the way of replies. I have an LR3 which per below has a fuse box located beside the main starting battery in the engine compartment. I do not know if the LR4 has the same thing but if it does, that may be the answer. My fuse box has a few locations for relays...

    Battery Profile Setting

Battery Profile? I am wondering what that means? I have an LR3 so I know nothing about "battery profile" but I wondered what that means. On my 3, all I know is that the "smart" regulator in combination with the engine computer is pretty dumb when it comes to keeping the battery fully charged...

So here is why after owning (4) Land Rovers I don't think I will ever own one again.

Locally I see lots of Range Rover drivers talking into their hand held cell phones. I have just assumed they were too lazy to figure out how BlueTooth hooks up. Maybe I am wrong. For what it is worth, my 2005 LR3 with 2008 BlueTooth software works well with my Android BlackBerry KeyOne. I...

    Upgrade my LR3?

Yes, I change the oil and filter/pan in the transmission every 50 thousand miles and in the transfer case and front and rear differentials, at maybe 80 thousand miles; engine oil and filter at 5,000 miles. So far all are original; rad still OK but new coolant and the plastic thermostat housing...

    Upgrade my LR3?

Re what to look for on the HSE, I think about all it can be is owner history - how many?, and looks. Is the interior and exterior in as good a shape as your SE? Also where did the most of the 75,000 miles get put on? Was it in some salt belt area and the driving was all city salted roads, or...

Suspension fault, not hearing the compressor turn on, jumper the relay?

Relay replaced? In theory the compressor relay in the engine compartment fuse box, (at least on an LR3), should have been replaced when the new compressor was installed. You might consider replacing the relay anyway given that system has been beat up a bit.

    Are LR4's actually bi-xenon?

The attached jpg shows the movable shield referred to above that moves out of the way when high beam is called for. That then means you have high beam as well as low beam coming from the single Xenon bulb. The bi-xenon shield setup is not a good design for "flash to pass", hence we have the...

    Windshield and Rain Sensor

Hopefully that resolves the problem but one wonders if someone unplugged the sensor hoping to solve a problem. Usually the sensor comes unglued from the glass, but it does not normally unplug itself. I am hoping that at some time a new factory windscreen was installed and the fixer forgot to...

Suspension Fault, HDC unavailable,Transmission fault, brake switch

Actually I quite enjoyed your post and no offense taken. Yes, one does have to wonder if there are any 3's on the road in the UK given it rains there more than half the time, and a cold rain at that. One would think that water leaks would be a concern but maybe all the vehicle design people...

Suspension Fault, HDC unavailable,Transmission fault, brake switch

Well now that you ask the question, about all I can think of is the Disc3 forum is still very much in operation. Also it seems the Royal Protection Service is still running 3s and 4s - probably have to go to the G Wagon in the future however - yes a good question.

    "Replica" 2014+ taillights

Me too. I must be old but tail lights on trucks should be big red things. I note that the pickup manufactures to some degree seem to have forgotten that as well and are playing around with LED's in their upscale vehicles. While I suppose Valeo brand would be OK, it would surprise me if all...

    Windshield and Rain Sensor

Use something, maybe a flat blade screwdriver or nail file to pry the plastic halves apart. If your cover is per the jpg, just start at the top where the wires go in. In my case, they almost fell apart when I started; in fact I wondered why they had not seperated going over a bump etc.
