Supercharger Oil Service interval (2016 SCV6)

This is what I used a while back. https://www.ebay.com/itm/124233027524?hash=item1cecdd8fc4:g:GI0AAOSw~~Re8izV Here it is without the oil. https://www.ebay.com/itm/125379092325?epid=8022488838&hash=item1d312d1f65:g:sMkAAOSwmVVhbMFA If you email this seller, he might know the oil refill...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Poured through the throttle body, it might also have the effect of cleaning up the throttle body itself and the intake valves (prob not much, but maybe a little). Have you tried actually cleaning the throttle body? If the butterfly valve is sticking, that can give you a rough idle. You also...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Not sure what an emptied out cat would do. I assume that would increase exhaust flow, which is the opposite of what I was thinking. But how/why would a thief carefully disassemble the cat, empty it out, and put it back together installed on the car? That just doesn’t make much sense to me...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Just reporting back on the MAP values. Mine look similar to yours, about 5.8 psi at idle and 5.3 psi at 1500-3000 rpms steady throttle. It does change quite a bit if you blip the throttle.

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

I don’t know the normal MAP values - I’ll try to check mine tomorrow. But it does seem like MAP should be changing more than it is with increasing RPMs. I don’t remember the heavy metal clunking noise in the supercharger, and I can’t imagine what part of a supercharger would be making a heavy...

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Couple hundred mls is not much. That’s probably just some air trapped in the system. I had to add some after the project (can’t remember how much), but I did the manual bleed. I wonder if you can’t effectively pressure test with that vacuum bleeder somehow. Anyway, I wouldn’t bother with it...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Just thinking on this a little more, and maybe a partially clogged cat on one side makes some sense. It would explain rough idle with misfiring and consequential rich condition on the clogged side, and might also explain the other side going lean because the airflow into the engine would be out...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

ftillier makes a good point, and to back it up a bit further - how are the misfires being detected in the first place? Is there a misfire code being set? Rough idle is almost certainly a misfire of some kind, but I’m wondering how you’re seeing the misfires on 2/4/6.

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Wow - that’s a pretty serious diagnosis to jump to. Did the mechanics say why they think the engine is shot? Did they do a compression test and find a warped head or something? This goes to ftillier’s comment - prior overheating can warp the heads pretty quickly. I’ve never heard of someone...

    Starting issue

Yesterday you showed 12.6v off and this morning 12.0v off. Your battery shouldn’t be dropping that much overnight. 12v is pretty low - that’s with everything off, correct? Assuming voltages are correct, seems like the battery is going bad or you have a parasitic drain.

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

It’s odd that the two banks are the opposite of one another. I think you are correct that Bank 1 is technically staying within a normal range, but it’s still indicating an increasingly lean condition with increasing RPMs, whereas Bank 2 starts in a normal range (just a little rich) and then...

    Misfiring Cyl 2/4/6 ?? 2015 LR4

Ditto mm3846‘s advice. Check your fuel trims - you need to look at both ST and LT (add them together to get total). Check at idle, at something around 1500 rpms, and at something around 2500 rpms. Hold steady at those RPMs (in park/neutral) and record. Then check to see how they are...

    PCV refresh/replacement

This PCV refresh is a good place to start if you haven’t already done it. It is probably the most common cause for the lean code at idle that I’ve seen on these forums. It’ll need to be done at some point anyway, so even if that’s not your problem, it’s not a waste of time. You can probably...

Bleeding Coolant procedure 2014 LR4 how to ?

Here’s the bleed procedure from a manual that I used successfully: (1) Get the coolant reservoir free and raise it up about 1.5”. You can’t raise it up much, but it doesn’t take much. Just need the rim higher than the highest bleed point. I lifted it a bit, and just put something underneath it...

Check Engine - Running Fine. Lots of codes

I would start with clearing the codes and see what comes back first. A couple of those codes are camshaft position sensor codes. I expect that’s the source. Throwing off the fuel injection timing causing a rich condition that is causing the o2 and catalyst codes. Might be the sensors, might...

getting that damn eco/stop start light off on the IP

My start/stop has never worked (purchased used), but light never showed up. Last year the eco light popped on. The little battery was dead, so I replaced it and the light went off. Still off now. Start/stop still never worked (thankfully). @Fuji4 - do you know what the modification is to...

LR4 V8 smog help - catalytic monitor won't get to ready state

You mention they replaced the MAP sensor, but I believe you have a MAF sensor (possibly in addition to the MAP). On the v6, we have two MAP sensors and two MAF sensors. Not sure what you have on the V8. MAPs are in the intake manifold and measure the intake pressure, MAFs are in the intake...

2016 LR4 - Rough idle but only when warm; worse when vehicle in reverse

I think you are on the right track with replacing the O2 sensor, and it very well might fix the idle. In the meantime, you can check fuel trims at idle and at higher RPMs. Look at short term and long term fuel trims once the engine is warm - add them together to get actual fuel trim numbers...

Very likely related. The flange is probably not seated and is leaking. Someone else here reported a similar problem after the recall work.

Engine Rattling on Cold Start (Timing chain tensioner?)

If it’s not too bad, you could put off the supercharger coupler repair. I think it would last quite a while - just gets noisy. You’ll get a little wear into the shaft eventually (the spring coupler starts to dig into the shaft), but I think it would take a long time to do much real damage...

Engine Rattling on Cold Start (Timing chain tensioner?)

Over the several years following this and other forums, I’ve seen several people say that the SCV6 still has timing chain issues. However, I’ve never really seen much evidence of a problem. It seems to me that we’d be seeing a lot more stories about SCV6 timing chains by now if there was still...

Engine Rattling on Cold Start (Timing chain tensioner?)

In that case, I really think its more getting used to the sound of this engine than anything wrong with it. They are noisy buggers. That supercharger is probably rattling a bit. If the coolant crossovers have not been replaced (front and rear), I would have that done and have the supercharger...

    MAF issues, reduced performance

That’s super rich. Since it’s tied to refueling, I’m guessing you are getting fuel into the evap canister on fill ups, and when that purge valve opens, the mixture is getting too rich. If you get enough fuel in the canister, it can actually pull liquid fuel right up through the purge...

LR4 V8 smog help - catalytic monitor won't get to ready state

How did they determine it was the MAP sensor that went bad during the test? That does sound suspicious. Not sure what the EGR monitor is (I assume you have a petrol car, and I believe EGR is only on the diesel). Any codes?
