    CEL, P0174

PCV usually causes lean conditions in both banks, but the PCV is so easy to change on the V8 that I’d do it first just in case that’s it. It needs to be done anyway - if those valves are from 2011, they’ll rip soon if they haven’t yet. Someone recently posted about the springs being different...

SCV6 Fuel Pump Duty Cycle - GAP IID

Update to this thread: I contacted GAP about the fuel pump duty cycle and they suggested updating the tool. It worked and we now have fuel pump duty cycle readings. We also seem to have gotten pressure readings for the low pressure side of the fuel system, and some other things I haven’t...

OBD Tools Experiences GAP IID, Icarsoft, BlueDriver

@richord Wondering if your icarsoft can read live values for fuel injector pulse width modulation or fuel pump duty cycle on your 2015. GAP tool cannot. I’m thinking about getting another tool that can read some of these live values parameters missing from the GAP tool, but not sure which ones...

SCV6 Fuel Pump Duty Cycle - GAP IID

Thanks for checking. Mine was hot, so I think the readings are just not available. I asked GAP one time about why we couldn’t see the PWM readings on the injectors, and they said that if the readings are not showing in the tool, it’s because LR didn’t make them available. Not sure I’m...

SCV6 Fuel Pump Duty Cycle - GAP IID

Wondering if anyone has been able to see live values for the low pressure fuel pump duty ratio on the SCV6 models. I tried to check mine today and got just "N/A" values for all the relevant fields I could find. Trying to figure out if my GAP tool or OBD is faulty, or if this is just another...

CEL for minor errors on IID tool?

Where do you see those “Test not completed” messages? If that has to do with the EVAP system, it might be the cause of your CEL. The evaporative emissions system runs tests after a “drive cycle” and if it cannot complete those tests after several drive cycles, it might set off the check engine...

O2 Sensor Identifications - and intermittent CAT code troubleshooting

Sensor 1 should be the pre-cat sensor. It’s the most important o2 sensor because it governs the fuel mixture. I don’t know if sensor 2 is the mid or post cat sensor.

CEL for minor errors on IID tool?

Agree that the BCM headlight code is not the cause - I’ve always had that as well. I think it might be from having the headlamp delay option. I’ve also run the car with a dead flat secondary battery and without the secondary battery installed for long periods - never got a CEL from that either.

    Persistent misfire under load only

I don’t know the answer to this question. There is more to it than just the canister. Somewhere in the line, there is the dmtl pump that tests for EVAP leaks, and that controls some valves in the lines. I spent some time studying that system years ago, but I no longer remember how it all...

    Persistent misfire under load only

Sorry to hear about the surgery, but glad you are recovering. The o2 sensors do seem to be responding. I’m trying to think of all the things that would cause a lean condition on both banks. Seems like the most common would be vacuum leak, MAF, fuel pump/pressure, fuel rail pressure sensor...

Coolant Smell After Driving and Temperature Gauge Reading

Regarding the temp, mine also sits right in the middle of the gauge. 1/4 up is a little low. Not sure that it would have much impact. The v8 thermostat runs a little cooler than the v6 thermostat, so it might be that the previous owner had the wrong t-stat installed. Some people have...

    Persistent misfire under load only

My rail pressure looks about the same from past logs. I don’t have much data on the low pressure side. But seems like fuel rail pressure is what really matters. If your low pump is misbehaving badly enough to cause a misfire, you should see it in the rail pressure as well. If it’s not...

    Persistent misfire under load only

It's a mystery. Fuel trims really look like a vacuum leak, but the failure under throttle really looks like fuel delivery issues (or spark issues). You also have fuel trim issues on both banks, but a misfire issue that appears to be only on one bank. Maybe there are two different problems...

    Persistent misfire under load only

Weak fuel pumps should give you more problems as RPMs/load increases - I think pretty much the same symptoms whether it's the high or low pressure pump going bad. It would create a lean condition that gets worse as fuel demand increases. That's what your initial symptoms seemed to point...

Struggles to start and single bank misfires only when cold?

You've covered a lot, pretty tough to come up with any more, but I'll grasp at some straws with you: I know at least a couple of people on here have reported exhaust manifold leaks - bolts sheared off. I've read that an exhaust manifold leak can cause rich or lean conditions depending on...

    Persistent misfire under load only

Sorry for no feedback, Jimmy. Been out of town. I know I've checked my mafs using the tool, but I don't recall what the fields were anymore - maybe just airflow, which is fine if you can compare the two sides to see if they are about the same. Unusual that both would go bad at once, though...

    Engine oil leak?

I think the timing chain cover is the likely culprit (or nearby parts of the valve cover). they’re pretty common. Doesn’t look like a major leak, but you do want to keep the oil off the alternator and belt - can’t tell from the pic if it’s getting on there or not.

    Coolant Temps

The differential is normal. The lower hose is supposed to stay a lot cooler than the upper hose because it’s the cool side of the system - coming out of the radiator. As for temps, at 221-223 the t-stat is not quite fully open, so you still have a little cooling capacity left. I would...

    Misfires on one side 3L SCV6 2015

Maybe I missed it in the above discussion, but seems like o2 sensors would be the number one suspect here. Have those been checked/changed out?

    Persistent misfire under load only

Sorry for the delayed response - missed the alerts on this thread. Yes, I think that points pretty strongly to a vacuum leak. Looks like it drops at both levels of increasing RPMS. Could be MAFs, so I’d still take a look at those numbers as well, but I believe vacuum leak would be prime...

    Persistent misfire under load only

high positive = too lean, i.e., car is needing to add 20%+ fuel to try to reach the target air/fuel mixture. Car must be warmed up or it won’t be in closed loop, at which point it is just using scheduled air/fuel. After warm up, take the fuel trims at idle and holding steady at a couple of...

    Persistent misfire under load only

Have you looked at fuel rail pressure or fuel trims? Under load only makes fuel delivery come to mind. Might check tsbs on that car as well. not sure what components might have changed in the new platform, and whether they might have had new issues pop up.

    Entire bank 2 misfire

most vvts you just pull them off and put 12v to them - see if they move (or click if enclosed). not sure if these have anything else that can go wrong with them. i haven’t had to mess with them yet.
