Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

Ah…not sure why that didn’t occur to me. So strange to see them just sitting there. That seems like good evidence of a pulley failure as Rover Range points out.

Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

That’s the vacuum pump, but I’m not sure what those little copper colored beads are in the photo.

Serpentine/Accessory belt failure on a very wet, dark MI road in the middle of nowhere...

Depends how long you were running hot, but your temp shot up because the water pump stopped circulating which is very different from losing all your coolant and running dry (as happens with the crossover failure scenario). In your case, I expect your temps were not near as high, so if you kept...

    2012 LR4 Electrical power loss

There have been a couple of reports on these forums of the ignition relay going bad. That could definitely give you the power loss while driving. I’m not sure if it would cause the ECU reset. A bad ground strap or a bad ground to the ECU (or a short in the power side) would probably cause...

    Overheating issue! LR4 2016 SCV6

For sure, we’ve seen reports of bad motor mounts causing the fan to hit the shroud/brush guard, and that certainly might be the cause of the overheating. But, personally, I would bleed the system and probably replace the t-stat before I drove the car anymore. The heads on these cars seem to...

Does anyone have an idea of what this rumble/knocking sound might be?

Just listened to the last video and i’m 99% sure that’s the heat shield.

Does anyone have an idea of what this rumble/knocking sound might be?

Pretty sure its the transmission heat shield. Known issue - the steel bracket holding the heat shield cracks and it will vibrate right at like 1280 rpms under load. I replaced one, then welded a second. If you get under the car and bang on it with your hand or a mallet, you’ll probably hear...

System too lean at idle - Bank 1 and 2

Sounds like one fantastic mechanic you’ve got there. MAF code would suggest the MAF as the other say here. Try cleaning. If the code persists, try swapping. If it follows - replace that MAF. If it doesn’t follow but persists on that same bank. Might be wiring harness to the MAF. Also...

Can't seem to be able to program homelink

I installed new garage door openers a few years ago and found out the 2016 LR4 homelink isn’t compatible with the rolling code garage door openers. Chamberlain’s literature said it was compatible, but that was apparently incorrect. They sent me this thing that intercepts the homelink signal and...

    Crossover pipe work

There generally are no symptoms until it leaks (or bursts if unlucky). Many of us did it as preventative maintenance somewhere in the 60k-80k mileage range.

Dash lit up like a Christmas tree out in BFE

With that many codes, I think I’d check for rodent damage right behind/below the battery box. As I recall, there is a fat sheath of wires that goes though the firewall into the junction boxes just below that battery box. Seems to be a hotspot for rodents. Rodents do seem to love these vehicles.

    Noise? Rod Knock

That sounds terrible, but it’s not the typical supercharger noise when the coupler goes bad. Your noise sounds more like a pulley to me. As mentioned above, the idler pulley is a known problem, and it will shred your belt if you don’t fix it. I’d start by just pulling the accessory belt and...

    MAF issues, reduced performance

MAF sensors, O2 sensors, fuel pressure sensor, and purge valve/evap canister, all come to mind as possible causes of rich condition.

2015 Land Rover LR4 HSE- Thinking about buying, does the engine sound right? https://youtu.be/wqjUb-qWbxE

If a Land Rover is not leaking oil, there something wrong with it. That’s how we know they’re still alive. Just FYI, minor oil leaks from the valve cover or timing cover are pretty common on these trucks. Pulling the valve cover requires pulling the injectors, so a lot of folks let minor...

Suspension Fault When Parked on Incline

I've read that degraded silica desiccant from the drier can start to clog the exhaust vent giving rise to this code. I wonder if being on a hill is causing loose desiccant to pile up in a way that blocks the vent.

    Back Crossover/Heater Manifold Repair

I think you should be able to reach that back coolant temp sensor without taking the intake off, but you might need to remove the windshield cowling if you aren't taking off the intake. I have an SCV6 and did the whole job with the intake off, but I was thinking at the time that removing the...

Looking for thoughts on leak under engine block

Like a ****** mystery. All we see is what‘s left on the garage floor. If you need help identifying the fluid itself, you’ll have to let us know what it feels like and smells like, i.e., oily or watery, sweet smelling, burnt smelling, etc. Also, looks like it could have mixed with residue...

Engine goes into reduced power mode

Maybe VVT solenoids? Not an oiler device, but seems to fit the description. They adjust timing of the camshafts.

There may be nothing you can do... P0016

I didn’t read through the whole thread here, so apologies if it’s already been covered, but I think this could be VVT solenoids or cam positions sensors. I haven‘t changed either on mine, but I understand both are pretty easy to swap out. Personally - I’d be looking at the VVT first, but not...

P0101 my latest gremlin after gassing up

The fact that it occurs after refueling makes me think of the evap/purge system, and specifically the charcoal canister. If the purge valve is not sealing, or if the charcoal canister is saturated, you can get improper air/fuel ratios. I‘ve seen a number of reports of charcoal canister...

Anyone end up buying their Grenadier order

I’ll likely cancel my order. I really like the car, but no dealers in northern CA and no real plan to get service to people far from dealers. Plus, really p*ssed that they promised everyone that service manuals would be made available to consumers, and now they seem to be backing away from...

    Injector failure?

Seems like fuel delivery is a logical place to start looking since it’s worse under load. I’d probably be thinking fuel pump before injector, but could be either. Too bad you can’t see fuel rail pressure or fuel trims. I also thought the gap tool could be used as a code reader on other LRs...

2012 - Decreased power on incline

I don’t think a bad vacuum pump really does much other than make smoke.
