I agree, there's nothing there to worry about! I'm in Michigan, sure, there's rust on the cars!... If chunks of rust/metal are falling off then you need to worry but what you have here is surface rust! -

This has many plates (more than 11 but hopefully conveys the idea): Here we have 5 plates (INA I assume): Look at a single pin (the silver part in the image above) and then count how many pieces of metal it connects, the pieces of metal are the plates. Here's a better description: -

I have 92K, all original, but she's lived in Pennsylvania; Kentucky and now MI so I suspect it's had a rougher saltier life! I will keep burying my head in the sand until the bags deflate but also suspect the shocks could use some love... Weather wise, from hot and humid to freezing cold snow... -
