New Recall Alert : Fuel System
Curious if I'm missing something, but I don't see how failure to do the recall would lead to being stranded? Fire, sure, and I guess that would result in being stranded, but with the flange on the top, I don't think the tank would empty ? -

I think there's a couple things going on here - injectors, the HPFP pump, and maybe the compressor starts up in the background in one of them. All I can say is that when I traded this one in to get my newer one, they mentioned there might be the slightest bit of noise from the chain, but almost... -

Do you mean absolute value or delta between the two banks? I always thought our cams were continuously varying based on load, engine speed, etc ? -

There are some codes that can be set intermittently that won't trigger the MIL. So would want to pull codes regardless. Timing-chain-wise -- with the engine off, remove the oil cap and see how much play is in the chain. Will need a screwdriver, or like a hook pick - something like this... -

If we're thinking of the same thing, I believe there's a little plastic trim cap that covers the screws. (This isn't a Defender, we COVER our screws!) You can just pull it off (or put a butter knife underneath to grab an edge etc) -

You have some extra noise beyond the lifters. From what I've heard, it does sound like timing chains / tensioners. Do you have the ability to pull codes ? -

LR4 to Defender direct comparison questions
How do you feel about Defender vs LR4 having had both for a little while now? I've been in a Defender a couple times and while the bigger screen give a more modern feel, I sometimes think the LR4 is the "nicer" one, with leather dash / top of door panels, lack of exposed screw heads, etc...- Nechaken

I think I have officially replaced every hose ever made for my LR4. Exhausting search for my latest leak.
Seems unusual that they 1) connect the supercharger cooling loop to the regular cooling system and 2) put two air-to-water charge coolers on top of the hot engine. -

What kind of leak is this?
That does look coolant-ish to me (with the caveat that camera, monitor, white balance, etc., would all affect what you see vs what I see.) -

Ventilated seats and modern nav would be on my wishlist. The one thing I really like about the LR4's factory nav is the breadcrumb option, and I'm not sure that's available on the Pivi system. I'm a pretty big fan of this design -- Hopefully you can add your own images / icons to make it... -

Ha, I've occasionally thought about slapping an ipad mini up there to do "carplay." You could 3d print a little bezel and it wouldn't look any different than any MB made in the last 7 years :) -

Just the standard LR / Magna pump. I didn't want to screw around with finding a 2 pin connector to fit a Bosch and splicing into the factory wiring. Plus I wasn't sure if the stumpy pump mounting bracket was different than the earlier cars. I saved the old pump to disassemble at a later time... -

Pretty simple job - took me about 90 min but if you regularly work on your car I'd guess you'd do it in half the time. Here's a few notes for people doing it -- First, its clear my pump wasn't running at all. Applying 12V directly results in nothing. No idea when it failed and I only started... -
