    Air Suspension head scratcher

Thanks for the good work, and please keep us all informed! I agree, I would always change out in axle pairs. Now, let me talk to you about your vehicles extended warranty. :D:D:D

New Recall Alert : Fuel System

We have three LR4's. 2016 - local dealership did the job in Aug - smells of gasoline AFTER the job at every fill up. Took it to a different dealership and they leak checked it, let me poke around underneath with them and we cannot find a leak. The second dealership says it's possible that when...

    Low Coolant Light

The best way is to use the vacuum technique. I have never used the bleed procedure. Part number for bleeder port plug on front crossover pipe LR011038, about $5 from Rover. Same part number for V8 and V6

I assume you have tried our usual LR on-line suppliers. Cary, Palm Beach, etc...

    Low Coolant Light

That seems to tell me that there is air in the system. Compresses down under pressure and then expands back when pressure is released. Two ways to address that, bleed or vacuum... It might, maybe circulate out, but I think that's unlikely. Keep an eagle eye on that temperature gauge!

    Low Coolant Light

Sorry if that original response sounded reactionary - it was not meant that way at all, but I see how it could be interpreted that way.... My apologies... I would highly recommend getting a vacuum system and using that - keep in mind that if you vacuum a system that is nominally full of coolant...

    Dash Vent Air Temp

Well, here in Houston who needs heat.. But on the few occasions.. we have never noticed this behaviour..

Just a bit off topic - Austin Marina

Ahh Clarkson, yes, I think everyone here knows Clarkson! The Austin was quite a car. Lots of adventures. Lots of hours on the ground... Even got it up to a massive 78mph once. Down a big hill and peddling for all I was worth !

    Low Coolant Light

So you de-pressurized the system when it was HOT ?? Did you drive it after that? DO NOT DRIVE IT! By relieving the pressure when it was hot you boiled off coolant inside the system. There are now air pockets in the system. When we work on these vehicles there are specific bleed protocols...

Just a bit off topic - Austin Marina

Look what I found! My first car. Austin Marina (USA). Memory tells me it was a 1972, but an internet search suggests it could also be a 1973 - any experts out there that can date this?? UPDATE - I found an authoritative website - this model did not exist in 1972, it's a 1973. It was half...

    Changed Auxiliary Battery, Now What?

Hmmm, I replaced the S/S battery in the 2016, and recently disconnected (for some other work) the S/S battery for a bit in the 2015. Unfortunately both times the ECO function re-booted. DANG....

    Low Coolant Light

The level sensor is at the bottom of the reservoir tank, the only way to lose that much coolant is if you have a leak. As per above, probably a crossover pipe & etc.

    Changed Auxiliary Battery, Now What?

WHY do you WANT the ECO function back on? I would love to be able to turn it off permanently!!

    Air Suspension head scratcher

Not that I have ever needed to be back there, but maybe splice around the old block valve (abandon in place) and mount the new one somewhere more accessible.

    Air Suspension head scratcher

One way to diagnose, but would also introduce additional potential leak points. Cut the lines at appropriate locations and install pressure rated manually operated shutoff valves. One for each corner, then at additional strategic points in the "common bits" of the system. Then it's easy to...

    Air Suspension head scratcher

I find the observation that all 4 corners come down simultaneously to be really interesting. That tells me it needs to be in the "common" bit of the system because what are the odds of a simultaneous failure at all 4 corners - even if it IS a Rover... If I have understood your problem...

Emergency key (blade key) not unlocking LR4

My thoughts as well - that one time it did work feels like an electrical type failure. I am thinking probably a new lockset, (or whatever assembly contains the switch) but since there is only the one on this vehicle it's not an ongoing hassle of multiple keys... It's going to be an open it up...

Is there anyway to see if crossover pipes have been done?

Since it's open, ask them to replace the clips on the underside of the manifold - they hold that coolant line up off the block and are sure to be very brittle, about $2 ea.

Emergency key (blade key) not unlocking LR4

Rotates but does not unlock, no sounds either so no obvious attempt by the mechanism to even try to unlock.

Emergency key (blade key) not unlocking LR4

All locking/unlocking operates totally normally from the key-fob or the door mounted switches. I can lock the drivers front door with the emergency key, but I cannot unlock it. This scenario is not discussed in the mechanics manual. Reluctant to take it apart. Maybe just a better idea to...

Is there anyway to see if crossover pipes have been done?

If you still have your vehicle in hand... The most likely location for a small otherwise hidden leak is the front crossover pipe. Pull up the video for the 2016 and go to 21:25. This is also a diagnostic location for the 2013. Even if you don't have a UV light, you can sometimes see a "wet"...

Is there an LR4 Workshop / Service Manual?

Yes, we know what a Haynes manual is in the US :) Agreed with Pagoda. Quite literally thousands of pages of very cryptic text and "drawings", and the classic statement every couple of pages that essentially says ~drawings may not match your vehicle - but the general information is correct~...

Is there anyway to see if crossover pipes have been done?

Of course the designs can change at any time, but I looked at the video's. THIS IS TRUE AS OF WHEN I DID THEM.. The new front crossover for the 2013 (Dec 2021) was the same design as the old one - two halves glue welded together The new crossover for the 2016 (Apr 2022) is the new design, one...

2016 LR4 Coolant Crossover, Water Pump, Thermostat Replacement

Well... MINE was 85 mL. When Superchargers On Line got all my photos and identification they literally said "Oh, you have one of those... I think as a general rule we need to put in roughly what we get out, and clearly there are some that live at about 85mL based on what is coming out from the...

Is there anyway to see if crossover pipes have been done?

Thanks! Here are my two videos. Crazy long - all you ever wanted to know but didn't even know to ask. 2013 V8 and 2016 V6. (Also other video's out there and more to come - ugh - more to fix - gotta love 'em - they are our mechanical babies...) When you do the 2016 be sure to replace the...
