The best way is to use the vacuum technique. I have never used the bleed procedure. Part number for bleeder port plug on front crossover pipe LR011038, about $5 from Rover. Same part number for V8 and V6 -

That seems to tell me that there is air in the system. Compresses down under pressure and then expands back when pressure is released. Two ways to address that, bleed or vacuum... It might, maybe circulate out, but I think that's unlikely. Keep an eagle eye on that temperature gauge! -

Sorry if that original response sounded reactionary - it was not meant that way at all, but I see how it could be interpreted that way.... My apologies... I would highly recommend getting a vacuum system and using that - keep in mind that if you vacuum a system that is nominally full of coolant... -

So you de-pressurized the system when it was HOT ?? Did you drive it after that? DO NOT DRIVE IT! By relieving the pressure when it was hot you boiled off coolant inside the system. There are now air pockets in the system. When we work on these vehicles there are specific bleed protocols... -

Changed Auxiliary Battery, Now What?
Hmmm, I replaced the S/S battery in the 2016, and recently disconnected (for some other work) the S/S battery for a bit in the 2015. Unfortunately both times the ECO function re-booted. DANG.... -

The level sensor is at the bottom of the reservoir tank, the only way to lose that much coolant is if you have a leak. As per above, probably a crossover pipe & etc. -

One way to diagnose, but would also introduce additional potential leak points. Cut the lines at appropriate locations and install pressure rated manually operated shutoff valves. One for each corner, then at additional strategic points in the "common bits" of the system. Then it's easy to... -

I find the observation that all 4 corners come down simultaneously to be really interesting. That tells me it needs to be in the "common" bit of the system because what are the odds of a simultaneous failure at all 4 corners - even if it IS a Rover... If I have understood your problem... -

My thoughts as well - that one time it did work feels like an electrical type failure. I am thinking probably a new lockset, (or whatever assembly contains the switch) but since there is only the one on this vehicle it's not an ongoing hassle of multiple keys... It's going to be an open it up... -

Since it's open, ask them to replace the clips on the underside of the manifold - they hold that coolant line up off the block and are sure to be very brittle, about $2 ea. -

Rotates but does not unlock, no sounds either so no obvious attempt by the mechanism to even try to unlock. -

All locking/unlocking operates totally normally from the key-fob or the door mounted switches. I can lock the drivers front door with the emergency key, but I cannot unlock it. This scenario is not discussed in the mechanics manual. Reluctant to take it apart. Maybe just a better idea to... -

If you still have your vehicle in hand... The most likely location for a small otherwise hidden leak is the front crossover pipe. Pull up the video for the 2016 and go to 21:25. This is also a diagnostic location for the 2013. Even if you don't have a UV light, you can sometimes see a "wet"... -

Yes, we know what a Haynes manual is in the US :) Agreed with Pagoda. Quite literally thousands of pages of very cryptic text and "drawings", and the classic statement every couple of pages that essentially says ~drawings may not match your vehicle - but the general information is correct~... -
