    I took the leap...

Are you a hands on person? If so you will want the mechanics manual. The last time I looked the manual for the V6 was not on-line, but you could try Craigs manuals as well as others, should be about $15 or so. If you cannot find a manual and you want one, send me a PM with your email and I...

    I took the leap...

That's the wrong oil, should be 0-20. If you choose the unicorn blood oil then this is the Rover specification: Castrol EDGE Professional OE Synthetic SAE 0W-20 It's much easier to get now than during Covid. FCP Euro and British Atlantic are reliable. Watch the kits, they tend to have...

    I took the leap...

You will have mixed success with the various Rover parts vendors, including on-line Rover dealerships, always be cautious. It's very easy to accidentally purchase after market rather than OEM if you click too fast - read the description closely - twice. Others may add opinions, but you could...

    I took the leap...

LOL, ongoing discussions regarding Rover brand fluids vs other brand fluids. Lots of friendly back and forth here on that topic, I go all OEM, other disagree. Bottom line is really just to change fluids often and that brand is, shudder..., not important, as long as you are using a good brand.

Don't leave us!! I only know what I learned from the folks before me, and there is so much more to learn! Also, what is your next ride...??

    I took the leap...

Congratulations and welcome to the group! Very attractive price - wayyyy better than just a couple of years ago.... The very first things I would do: Change the oil - use the unicorn blood oil as recommended by Rover (yes, yes, everyone... I know the discussion - I do what I want - you do...

    Block Heater for LR4

This is my D first winter in Montreal at university. No real cold - yet. The 2016 is parked 3 floors underground, not sure how cold it will get lounging around down there, but probably not very... We had no issues with cold in 3 winters in Rochester, NY in an outdoor parking garage. I...

    Block Heater for LR4

I have not installed a heater in many years (decades!) now. But, if I did need one on the LR4 I would most likely opt for a simple blanket. Even if you could rig an oil dipstick heater to keep out the dirt, probably not enough heat there, and when I installed a heater in the lower radiator...

New Tires to replace Cooper Zeon

Yes, I understand your point! I am from Wisconsin and, at least when I was younger, we had some serious snow. By cracky do you remember the winter of '78 ? - I was at university. It was the last time I saw thunder snow. When I was very young I remember my grandfather changing out the tires...

First post- going to look at a LR4 soon.

Can you please clarify "mid to late 2013", is there a way to track my 2013 VIN number vs the re-design date? Would be nice to know what my future may hold. Currently at about 90K and sounds like new... Thanks,

Bought a used 2024 and wondering about Vehicle Care Protection & Vehicle Protection Plan

I try to change at 5K miles but in reality it ends up at 7.5-10K.

Bought a used 2024 and wondering about Vehicle Care Protection & Vehicle Protection Plan

Oil and filter for one change can be purchased for less than $200 from reputable Rover parts vendors. Extraction tool is less than $200 and will last for many years. Oil filter tool is likely about $25 and lasts forever. Do it yourself.....

New Tires to replace Cooper Zeon

I know status changes, but I have them on the 2016. Because the 2016 was out of state I paid the price and had them done at the dealership in Rochester, NY. It took them a while to get the tires, (and a new spare) - I think it took them a couple of weeks - but I gave them several months notice...

First post- going to look at a LR4 soon.

Welcome to the group - this is a great place to be! So that's the V6 with the supercharger and the 8 speed transmission. There are several other strings on this forum with that question, seek them out... Here are a few... Remove the appearance cover. At the oil filter at about 2:00, look...

Front and rear differential service and engine oil service

I know nothing about the Disco 5. But note that on the LR4 (Disco 4) front and rear differentials are NOT filled to the filler plug level. They are filled BY VOLUME. Also Front and rear and locking rear all use different fluids. Service interval on the front and rear is 10 yrs/150K miles...

    Discovery Transmission issues

Not sure about the 2001, as a general statement, the transfer case function can be both internal to or external to the transmission itself. I can tell you that in my 2013-2016 LR4's the transfer case is separate and is external to the transmission proper. First find the leak. Remove all...

    Project Dark Knight Rising

For parts have you tried Land Rover Classics? store.landrover.com They are the only place I can now find Rover brand seat covers. I also have great service from Palm Beach Rover online parts, they seem to be able to find pretty much everything.

    Dash Cam - Best Options?

I have been considering installing a dash cam. Initially considering a VanTrue N5 but that's not really the question. At least with a quick look at the vendor website, I don't see an install manual, so typical questions remain. Mostly concerned about installation, where the wires will run...

    2012 LR4 coolant leak

As long as it showed up in a comment above: Regarding the fuel flange recall. Red Rover 2015, completed recall at the Dallas dealership - no issues. White Rover 2016, completed recall - local Houston dealer did a botched job, ongoing fuel leaks until I could get it to another dealership...
