LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I recently completed my 2013 with the Lubelocker and it's perfect. You need to torque properly. You need a small torque wrench that you can obtain from a bicycle shop and a stubby socket, it fits, and you need to torque it in the correct order. The steel pan is 12Nm, torque, in order to 6...

LR4 oil cooler level of effort involved estimate? For 2013 V8

Having done the project and with the experience, I agree, on the V8 one can get to it pretty quickly. Of course, it does take longer if one has never done it before... You are in you-might-as-well land. See the video for most of those - plus, do the PCV valve.

LR4 oil cooler level of effort involved estimate? For 2013 V8

Here are my videos, one for the V8 and one for the V6. These are not oil cooler videos, but all the steps you need to get there and back out again are thoroughly covered.

Towing - I Have Not Done My Homework...

Yes UHaul has an adjustable hitch, it must must be purchased, is over $200 and requires additional purchase of the pin locks.

Towing - I Have Not Done My Homework...

Sorry, another dumb question. OK, so the UHaul trailer says ideal hitch height is 18.5 - 18.75 inches as measured to the center of the 2"ball. For our LR4 setups, with the Rover Hitch, looks like I will need a height raising adjuster as the intermediate. (I have the Rover hitch - just finished...

Towing - I Have Not Done My Homework...

That's crazy easy! Thanks! I can even get my D to open it up and show me what's in there to see if the wiring is already installed. Hardest part will be the spare tire, and I need to do that anyhow because I splurged and actually purchased a new spare, but they mounted it back up wrong way...

Towing - I Have Not Done My Homework...

Hi, Stupid questions brought about by a last minute change in plans.... Might actually be towing a small UHaul trailer on a 6 hour drive. I have the hitch, but I am unclear on the electrical connections. The truck is across country so I cannot look at it. Do I need to modify anything for...

    Water pump nipple

Any feedback on all those new metals added to our various systems, is that brass fitting causing any problems that anyone knows about?

    Water pump nipple

I assume you are talking about that little plastic/brass bit... It should spin easily, but should not be easy to just pull out. That little black ring on the water pump must be pushed in to allow the fitting to be pulled out. It cannot come out on it's own. Did you put it in far enough (ha, ha...

Suspension Fault When Parked on Incline

Agreed, that your vehicle very possibly came with Hitachi software and AMK hardware. Mine was, and I have seen several other instances. However, I did not have any issues with that - but who knows.... But it sounds more like the valve on the exhaust, or something plugging the exhaust line than...

How to: Supercharger Removal, Rear Crossover, and Passenger Valve Cover

My best description of that smell is nasty old ear wax. Really a strange unpleasant odor. I got out 85mL and put back 85mL, no issues after about 10K miles.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I am about to begin the 6 speed procedure on the 2013. I am hoping to do a fluid flush rather than a simple drain and fill, which means I need to open up the transmission fluid cooler lines. The easiest spot is at the transmission cooler, super easy to access. Does anyone know the torque...

    Fluids change after 9 years?

I would go ahead and change everything - of course only OEM fluids... Don;t overlook coolant as well. I did pick up somewhere on this forum NOT to change the adaptation values for an ATF fluid change, that adaptation values should be changed only when mechanicals are changed. At least that's...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

If you did a simple filter/pan swap I believe the amount to have on hand is 7 liters. If you dropped the mechatronic and did a transmission cooler flush then it depends on how much you got out, but a dry fill is 9.9 liters.

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Actually, I have them both handy. The document is for the 6 speed and is from the ZF Repair Manual. The photo is for the 8 speed when I did the job a couple years ago. The original reference is hard to locate quickly, but ZF wants them dis-assembled in reverse order to assembly, i.e. start at...

    Headlight bulb recommendation needed

I have learned that OEM bulbs last much longer than anything we can purchase anywhere else, so long that they more than pay for themselves. And that includes all the major brand name bulb manufacturers. We run the OEM Xenon bulbs.

Are you sure it's coolant odor?? My 2016 has a strange vinegar odor in the HVAC system at times - not coolant, but have never really properly diagnosed it.
