    A/C - Expansion Valve?

If memory serves, there is a pressure switch on the system that monitors high and low refrigerant pressures and I think it interupts the compressor solenoid if pressures are out of range. You may be able to jump the switch/sensor and see if your high side goes to near normal [probably >200psi on...

    A/C - Expansion Valve?

Our 2011 A/C is really cold with ambient temps of 95-98 or so; it rarely gets above that here, thank goodness but humidity is usually really high when temps are 95ish so there's that. Anyhow, I think your low pressures assuming refrigerant charge is correct are a result of a faulty compressor...

Another Front Crossover - Right on Schedule !

for the SC 3.0, i would use the JLR aluminum front crossovers. I would avoid the aftermarket metal ones. Rear heat manifold I would use the oem plastic. unfortunately there are not jlr metal pipes for the NA 5.0v8

2015 Coolant leak, not cross overs

water pump replacement is fairly easy [at least in lr4 terms] but dont let that tempt you to ignore the front crossovers and rear heat manifold while you are in there. BTW, there is a brass replacement for that little plastic elbow if you so choose to "upgrade" and you might as well do the...

    Lr4 alarm sense of humor

My son left his LR4 in my driveway for a couple of months while he is traveling. I agreed to drive it every week to keep battery from going flat and just keep it up. Anyhow, night before last I guess it was feeling neglected so at 1am it decided to sound its alarm with horn/lights flashing...

hmm, around here i would be way more concerned someone might cut off and steal the catalytic converters instead of the fuel

    OMG..LR4 glove box replacement

Just wanted to share this pig of a job with you all. Son told me his glovebox [upper portion] had broken. Sure enough one of the plastic hinges had sheared off so the box hung open sideways. I purchased a complete glove box assy from a breaker. Now for the fun. I think JLR built the car around...

Suspension noise (possibly lower control arm)

never had the ball joint spin but if you do, you can put a hydraulic jack under the steering knuckle and put some pressure on it that will stop spinning until nut can be removed.

2014 Land Rover LR4, suspension faults after compressor and valve block work

a couple of years ago, i needed a hitachi compressor. Found one from a low mileage full size Range Rover. The plugs are different so you have to swap yours onto it but the RR placed the compressors inside the luggage compartment of the vehicle away from moisture and road salt. Usually in much...

    Removing air suspension compressor

you will typically find that the bolts holding the compressor to the bracket have a bit of corrosion making them difficult; mine exhibited this and a big crack in the bracket. The top bolt is not that difficult with the right extension [wobble] and/or universal and socket.

    V8 5L - Thoughts on P0016 a year after chain change

Here is my theory [but may be bunk]. Our v8 has not had chains replaced but seem tight and no noise. a year or so ago during a cold morning at first startup, son kind of goosed it to get out of intersection near home. it popped up a p0018 and restricted performance. restriction went away after a...

    2013 LR4 HSE V8

check out wheel bearings. my son was driving on highway at 70 or so and started feeling a thump, thump and said it felt like flat tire or something. continued to get worse. Front right wheel bearing was disintegrating...every other car i have owned began to growl or howl when bearings were...

Rigid brake line failed - need help with info on parts

well, you beat me to it, i read this and was going to post "air in the ABS hydraulic module" and how it cannot be bled manually. glad you figured it out. For whatever it is worth, i had a shop replace my rigid lines several years ago as they were rusted and weeping [not long to failure]. I was...

Coolant pipe replacement every 5 years on V8?

Probably a good idea to replace every 5 years or about 60k miles but it is a fair amount of labor to do. Our LR4 5.0NA had the originals at about 11 years and 100k miles. It didnt leak and looked solid but when removing the front crossovers, they broke where they enter the block and left the...

    parasitic drain?

ok, son's LR4. live 4 hrs away. His job sends him out by air for weeks at a time. He just returned today from 6 weeks away to a totally dead battery again. This happened last time he traveled and put in a new battery. He was able to have triple A jump it but they had to use jump pack and jumper...

LR4 Electric Parking Brake (EPB) Services and Replacement

not sure at this point how much it is used. son drives it full time; i think he sets it whenever he parks. It started schreeching at 88k miles. I adjusted the shoes at that time and it was good for about another 5k miles. had it replaced at 94k. If it does malfunction in the lock state, the...

LR4 Electric Parking Brake (EPB) Services and Replacement

some folks have had to cut the cables to the rear EPB drums to remove the disc/drum assemblies. Obviously if you go that route, module or at least cables will need to be replaced. I did have a shop do the module a couple of years ago; it was and expensive endeavor. The module was having issues...

    cross over pipe questions

OP has a 2013 [most likely a NA 5.0v8] Labor cost should be less than that for the supercharged v6. Not sure but i would expect 1500-2000 USD. I did my own. genuine OEM part is about 120 for just the front crossovers. If I were you though while the intake plenum is out ect. replace the rear heat...

Hard, jarring, harsh ride over holes and road imperfections

Yes, I used the Meyle HD arms on my son's lr. They were well constructed and the ride is very good and tight without being harsh. they have about 40k miles on them now..still very good. Expect to possibly have to cut the original bolts off to get the old arms out. Use new hardware and mark the...
