Is the tow receiver optional/did my LR3 have one at some point?
Correct to all. The vehicle comes prepared for what amounts to adding the towing trailer pig-tail and the hitch receiver. For carrying extra items I picked up some US Army surplus canvas bags and put tools, etc in there to keep from floating around the back. -

Roof Racks
Has anyone used the Rhino Racks? I like that they are a flat platform that enables you to carry oversized pieces as well as lash cargo to it. And it looks like it comes off easily. The Thule and Yakima bars look good too but do not have that platform for cargo. -

I did some around town driving today and either I've become accustomed to adjusting for the lag or it's gone. However, I do recall experiencing it on higher speed and highway driving in sudden acceleration periods. Your reset technique resolves that lag so there is none at all? Interesting.... -

Yep, my '96 Tahoe accelerates more responsively. I think the lag has to do with the passing accelerator option where it down-shifts and over-revs the engine to give you quick passing acceleration. But if you stomp on the gas pedal it takes a moment to get going, bogs down. I hope someone with... -
