    Extended Warranties

Warranty Use Update Last week I used my Ford PremiumCare ESP for the first time. I took my LR3 to the dealership I bought it from to get my usual 6 month look-over. Turns out that I had a bunch of work that needed to be done: Left front hub was loose and needed to be replaced ($557) Right...

    Control Arm Bushings

I know that this a year old post but resurrecting it. Ryan, et al: I'm at the point where I need to research what bushings I want to use on my LR3 when I replace them. It sounds like the poly-bushings were great but not sure what you mean by a harsher ride? More truck-like? Harder? I guess...

    Common 19" question.

So more fair weather/mud tires than snow. For snow I'm looking at the Nokian WRG2, especially as they look to also be a good all year round tire.

    Common 19" question.

How well do those Cooper tires handle year round use? What's the mileage you get out of them?

    Pads or Pads/Rotors?

I had my front brakes done around 50k miles as well and used the Akebono brake pads. I had to have the rotors replaced as well as they got scored - get this - from asphalt chunks on a road repair job in my local town roads! You would think that a vehicle designed to go off road wouldn't have...

    New noise

I had to have both of my differentials replaced. Fortunately all under warranty. The front was replaced at about 32k or so and the rear about another 3-5k after that. Both had bits of metal and I felt slight vibrations at speed. My dealership replaced them immediately without question. But...

The Best LR3 All Season/Terrain Tire Thread of 2013

On the Nokian WRG2, my local tire shop here on the North Shore of MA highly recommends them. They use them on all their trucks all year round, but those tires are especially good in the snow. So I think will do well for you in just about any situation, aside from serious off road driving where...

Ford ESP Warranty Term Suggestions Please

I have the 5 year plan from Ford. I was out of warranty so a tad cheaper for some reason. It covers almost everything that the factory warranty has (see thread on this). These are insurance plans and as I'm sure you know, the older something gets, the longer down the time road you get, the...

Is the tow receiver optional/did my LR3 have one at some point?

Correct to all. The vehicle comes prepared for what amounts to adding the towing trailer pig-tail and the hitch receiver. For carrying extra items I picked up some US Army surplus canvas bags and put tools, etc in there to keep from floating around the back.

Is the tow receiver optional/did my LR3 have one at some point?

When I bought my 2008 LR3 HSE I had the hitch receiver added. They come from the factory with the basics needed - wiring up to a point and the site for the hitch receiver to be attached to. However, as someone noted you'll have to get the wiring set up for it and the hitch receiver either from...

    ground clearance

Right, the receiver and vehicle can tow 7700 #'s. I towed a Jag with it. So, sounds like an option to have additional capability with but obviously not what you intend to pull the vehicle out of mud or rocks or at an acute angle with. I've been reading up that one is advised to have a dual...

    ground clearance

Anyone ever used the trailer hitch receiver to mount a winch on the rear? I'm thinking of it for smaller load things, not necessarily to pull the LR3 out of a ditch. I know that the receiver is rated less than the winch. I have a Ramsey 8000 winch I was thinking of making portable as I...

    Roof Racks

Has anyone used the Rhino Racks? I like that they are a flat platform that enables you to carry oversized pieces as well as lash cargo to it. And it looks like it comes off easily. The Thule and Yakima bars look good too but do not have that platform for cargo.

    Roof Racks

Thanks but what about a set of cross bars and a platform that integrates with them?

    Roof Racks

I'm in the market for a good roof rack for my 2008 LR3. I have the short rails on the top and am looking for a low-profile/non-basket type of roof rack. The idea is to have a platform for carrying a Christmas tree, strapping camping gear, carrying lumber, etc. so that I don't have to worry...

    cold start squeal

When was the last time you had your belts inspected and adjusted? May well be time to replace as the squeal is a sign of them stretching out and slipping.

    LR3 not accelerating properly....

Yeah, mine was fixed under warranty as a software upgrade. But, never quite sure if that truly fixes the problem or if it will revert back to the delay again. It's definitely an improvement over before, but not like driving my '96 Tahoe or wife's '04 Saturn L300. So, the software piece is...

    LR3 not accelerating properly....

I did some around town driving today and either I've become accustomed to adjusting for the lag or it's gone. However, I do recall experiencing it on higher speed and highway driving in sudden acceleration periods. Your reset technique resolves that lag so there is none at all? Interesting....

    LR3 not accelerating properly....

Yep, my '96 Tahoe accelerates more responsively. I think the lag has to do with the passing accelerator option where it down-shifts and over-revs the engine to give you quick passing acceleration. But if you stomp on the gas pedal it takes a moment to get going, bogs down. I hope someone with...

    LR3 not accelerating properly....

I think it's, depending on how much of a lag, a normal aspect of the LR3's computer controlled acceleration. However, I also had my shop (when under warranty) check out mine and they found that the software was out of date. They did a software update and it ran a lot better. I've learned to...

    LR3 HSE Oil Filter

Makes sense. I'm looking at places like NAPA and comparing them to eBay for a good filter. I've seen Bosch listed as well but will look at the K&N and other large capacity types. Thanks.

    LR3 HSE Oil Filter

This may be an obvious answer but my question is what is the best or recommended oil filter to use for a 2008 LR3 HSE. Now that my LR3 is out of warranty I plan to do most of the work myself, including oil changes, and want to make sure I get the right parts. These vehicles seem to be a bit...
