I have a 2005 LR3 V8SE w/ 61K. The front control arm bushings have needed to be replaced for last 2 years. Finally getting them fixed next week. Does anyone have any input on the "synthetic" control arm bushings that are a supposed permanent fix to the lame quality of the manufacturers control arm bushings? My Rover people are charging $300 more for the synthetics (total cost $1500). Is that reasonable? Thanks for your input.

I have them on mine. I also live in PDX if you want to check them out prior to install...

Ryan - Do you think the ride is better, worse or the same? Where did you get them done and how much did you pay? I may take you up on your offer....

Columbia Rovers installed the fronts for me. I would have but I needed it done in 3 Days before I left on a week long trip. When I returned I installed the rears myself. The ride is definitely harsher. I am glad I did it but it is a major change from the stock bushings...

I know that this a year old post but resurrecting it.
Ryan, et al: I'm at the point where I need to research what bushings I want to use on my LR3 when I replace them. It sounds like the poly-bushings were great but not sure what you mean by a harsher ride? More truck-like? Harder? I guess, which might be best for on highway use as that's where my LR3 mostly goes these days?

Replacing Control Arm Bushings Yourself

Hi All

1. On a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the hardest, how hard is it to do yourself?

2. Is it ok to go to a chain center to do it? Or your own general mechanic?

Would like to do it myself, has anyone seen a video on this? Or is obvious what to do once you get underneath?

2007 LR3 SE

Thanks!!!

Garrett
