It actually is well-labeled as well -- "Emissions Control Reminder" or something like that. It's sort of a reddish-brown (Georgia Clay?) color, with a LR Oval sticker on the top. -
Brake Caliper Question
Assuming a brake caliper sticks, is there a way to adjust or repair it such that it won't stick? I was looking at the RoversNorth catalog and they sell the pistons for the caliper, but is this something that can be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled? TIA, Andy -
Disco I Electrical Problems
Are you turning the volume up with the knob on the unit or the binnacle switches? If it's the binnacle switches, you need to have the knob on the stereo set on sort of a "maximum" -- then the switches on the binnacle control the volume within that range. Try turning the knob up fairly high... -

You'd be surprised at how well the stock size tires work. People usually add suspension lifts to fits larger than OEM sized tires under there, and someone with a D2 will undoubtedly answer the question about tires. You might want to start a separate thread about the roof rack for more... -
Electrical Problem
I'd bet Walter (Roverhound) is correct, and you'll end up spending the better part of a day chasing ground straps. If you have an electrical troubleshooting manual for the D1 it'll describe where the various ground attachments are. Start with simple things, like the negative battery terminal... -
Steering Stabiliser Issues
You probably are noticing things that the old (sloppy) steering stabilizer was covering up. Check for loose connections in the steering, it could also be bushings or something like the panhard rod. -

Keyless 'REMOTE' programming [D1]
Only earlier models. 94 and 95 had a different central locking ECU than 1996-1999. I think the handset/fob for the 1994/95 only had one button, while the 1996+ had two. -

Spring/ Suspension/ Shock Noises.
Well, the springs get old and the shocks wear out, but that creaking noise is more or less the result of the spring compressing against the spring retainers. How many miles on the truck? Are there original springs on it? -
Bought LR3, tradedin ML500.
You'll want an older Disco or RRC, then a Series truck, then you'll start wearing drover's coats and muddy boots everywhere, and then you'll move into a cabin in the remotest point in Canada and sell trinkets made of trout bones. :biggrin: Welcome to the insanity! -

I think it's pretty normal -- you may want to check all the bolts and nuts for looseness, but you're probably just hearing the sexy flex of your truck! :biggrin: -
Where to get a cheap hitch for D1?
Are you talking about the hitch, as in, the metal that mounts to the truck and ends in a squarish tube? Or, as in, the metal piece with the ball that slides into the squarish metal tube?
