The Seafoam Picture and Instruction Thread

They point to the hose, but you want to add the SeaFoam by unhooking the bottom of the hose and rotating it around so that the SeaFoam can be slowly poured into the hose (so that the SeaFoam goes into the intake and not the crankcase). Does anyone read the whole thread before asking...

    2000 disco2 elec problems

My bet is that the lock actuator for that door is shot. Someone from the "day shift" will see this and have some input on the rest. For parts -- use www.roversnorth.com or www.roverparts.com to get part numbers, and then email [email protected] (or go to discountbritishparts.com) for prices.

    2000 disco2 elec problems

RE: The lock, the actuator may be shot. Does it sound like it's locking/unlocking and the lock "tab" just doesn't move, or is that door silent when the others are locked? To anyone else: Is the cruise on a DII vacuum-powered like on the D1? If so, you'll need to check the vacuum lines...

    2000 disco2 elec problems

Window lift ECU is located behind the glovebox. Let me see if I can find the link to the repair. I have a Disco I, so see this as a starting-point and not a definite solution. Sometimes there are bad solder points on the ECU and it prevents the rear windows from going up or down. Try this...

Matt, don't delete posts -- instead, think about what you wrote before clicking the "Post Quick Reply" or "Submit Message" button. People will forget about you lying about 36 hours after you stop bragging about modifications you haven't made yet. I told you in the other post -- people are...

So, does that mean there are really only 3 acres? Or that your parents want a house with 5 acres someday?

    1997 Series I Disco - Diagram

The Genuine LR Shop Manual and/or RAVE CD are usually on EBay for cheap (if you are willing to push down your morals regarding copyrights), or through the major parts suppliers or the dealer. I'll sell you a shop manual, shipped to your door, for the 97 D1 for $15. PM for more details.

Woodgrain Dash, Steeing Wheel & Shift Knob ?

Difference of opinion.... I ripped all the carpet and padding out of my 96 Disco, partly because of the wet-dog smell permanently in my truck (from a 3000 mile camping trip) and partly because I like the metal floors better. I love it, because I use my truck for very different purposes than...

how to replace vehicle speed sensor?

The VSS is attached with a hex drive bolt. First unhook the wiring harness. Take the VSS off (use 2 6" 3/8" extensions and a ratchet to clear the exhaust pipe and parking brake), plug the square drive into the hole, and reattach the bolt. Reattach the wiring harness and you're all set. I...

    Auto shifter light

You have to remove the center console. There are two lights under there, and the bulb is a funny-looking thing probably not available through most vendors. I pulled both out when one burned out, and don't even miss it.

    Considering A-Bar...

Having spent 10 minutes of my life that I won't get back reading the other thread, I have this to say: Matt_Grim2 owned up to lying about his system. That, IMHO, does not justify comments about his parents being related. Any more comments about that are subject to post/thread deletion...

    Timing Cover Gasket

Looks like you have to remove an awful lot of stuff to even get to it. Depends on how much space you have and how much time you have. You're basically going to be taking the front end of the engine off to replace a gasket that you don't know is faulty.

    Timing Cover Gasket

I have the Workshop Manual for D1 at home. I'll check to see if there's a section on that part in there -- presumably if it's owner-repairable for D1 it is for D2.

    LR Discovery Regular Maintenance Tips.

If it's the SES light (red), the light comes on every 54,000 miles or so -- it's a reminder to get the emissions checked at the dealer (whether or not there is an emissions problem). There is a procedure outlined here and elsewhere to reset it.

Has your Disco ever left you stranded?

This is a tech response, and the thread is non-tech, but: There are ways to bypass the brake light switch, or the gear shift interlock solenoid, both of which are common causes for the "won't go out of park" problem. A search here can save a lot of problems. The brake light switch is a $30...

    Popping and Clicking and then...nothing!

Sounds sort of like a bad ground. When I had grounding issues on the negative terminal strap -- as well as a loose negative terminal -- this happened. The popping and cracking are the relays working their magic. Check grounds...

    99 Disco 2 Overfill Problem

AutoZone or places like that can check codes. Once the codes are known list them here and I'm sure someone can help. My guess would be that a breather valve on the fuel filler neck is stuck or plugged, which caused the overflow. As far as the CEL, I'm not sure off the top of my head why it...
