The obligatory "Show off your LR3' thread

Any more details on the hitch? I like that. Cool to see another Java LR3 with some Terras on it too! :D

    Strange headlight issue

This morning the headlight didn't even come on, so it's the bulb I bet. Ordered one and it should be here tomorrow. :D

    Strange headlight issue

I've noticed the past few days that when after shutting the LR3 off, the left headlight (driver's) doesn't stay on with the headlamp delay feature. At first I thought the bulb was bad, but that's not the case, if I press the LR button on the key (I have it set to turn the lights on) both lights...

    Amazon snorkel/RAI installed

If I'm correct, the LR4 has two air intake vents on each side, so you'd need a snorkel on each side.

    What is y'alls MPG?

In town I get around 16-17. Highway 20 or 21. Don't really care about the MPG. That's with stock sized Nitto Terras. And occasionally a ski rack.

Good thing my last vehicle was an Audi allroad

I agree...the extra cost for these is totally worth it! :D

    Alternator going bad?

Did that about 1.5 months ago, everything tested out ok but I don't have the greatest faith in those types of tests.

    Alternator going bad?

Just wondering if anyone is familiar with the signs of an alternator going bad. Past few months on occasion I've smelled a slight "electrical burn" smell after pulling the LR3 in the garage and it seems slower to crank over- the battery is good to my knowledge- like maybe it's not getting...

Wiper blade auto cup holder snow fill. Anyone?

    Been there done that!

    "clunk" sources

I have a similar noise coming from the front of my Jeep Liberty- IFS in the front too. Does it seem to set the clunk off when the wheels drop? Like hitting ruts/potholes? Mine is at low speeds too.

    Wiper Blades

I've noticed all wipers are made in China, Korea or Mexico. With that being the case, I don't really prefer a specific brand anymore since they're all going to be pretty much the same.

    06 suspension no access

I'd take it apart and see if you can clean. I'd be shocked if it's something mechanical like the compressor- given that that console has had a few drinks that's where the culprit is. IIRC the TR unit is like $400 from Atlantic British.

    Wiper Blades

I have the Bosch Icons now and they do the slap thing to...that clunk at the end of the range. Never had a problem with contact/streaking/chattering though.

Newbie test driving and hoping to join the club soon

x2 to the above. That lock icon is just for locking the suspension at access height. If it has the locker, it'll have a full size spare tire (matching wheel) so check for that. That would mean it has the HD package- rare, but awesome to find but not a deal breaker if it doesn't have it IMO.

    rear halfshaft squeak

I've never heard of it being bad in one direction. But I'd replace the joint as opposed to repacking it since it could be worn out.

    Input needed: Should I buy a LR3 or LR4 ?

x2. I love my LR3, but given the $38k price limit you should be able to get into an LR4 for around that. I plan to trade off my LR3 in the next year or two for an LR4. :D

The annual 19 inch tire question! Whattya got? Whattya like?

On my 18s I run the Nitto Terra Grapplers...great tire. I've had 3 sets over the years. They are great in snow/ice and most off road conditions (all except deep mud, need an MT for that IMO) and they are tame on road.

    Air Suspension Fault

Just wondering for reference (I'm not planning on doing this anytime soon hopefully) but how does it compare to rebuilding a small carb?

    Hitch/Receiver keyhole plugged

I think I paid like $13 for a new lock for mine from the dealer. Took about 20 mins or a half hour to do myself. You do need to at least get the hitch off though, I think.

Ugh, New LCA's are just junk!!

I agree. Generally I'd only go OEM for control arms. Only exception is the custom upper front control arms on my Liberty, to help with the lift. But glad you found a solution!

    Air Suspension Fault

You could try to find an indy shop- there's quite a few members up in the PNW so they could probably help you out there. I'm guessing it's the dryer too. Mine had a similar issue.

Ugh, New LCA's are just junk!!

Are you sure the sides are correct? No two control arms on the LR3s are the same...all are asymmetrical.

    Hitch/Receiver keyhole plugged

x2 and if that doesn't work a locksmith could get it off for you. I had a lock smith get a broken bit of key out mine.
