That is called the Half Moon Trail, just outside of Leadville, CO. A group of us did the trail on the GD4 this year. The water wasn't as high during the GD4 as it was when I took that picture in the spring during a Sollihul Society run. My very favorite water crossing picture for sure. -

One of the things that saved me in the crossing in Boaz's picture was the design of the airbox. The intake on the side of the car is actually lower than the entrance to the airbox. As a result, the water has to travel uphill before it would get into your engine. Though my intake was submerged... -

Great Divide 4 Pictures

Deep Water
Maguier's is the best... Just don't look too close at the paint job. After that trip and the GD4 last week, it took me about 3 hours of washing, Scratch X, polishing and waxing to get out the pinstriping. There are still a few nasty gashes though. Gotta love the battle scars. -

So far it looks like we have 3 confirms (All in the general Boulder area). Any thoughts on the trail? I can't find any current conditions on Red Cone, though it would be cool. If we all coming from Boulder, it may be worth finding something a little closer... -

zdas04, what is your problem man? If you know the economy in that area of the state, it thrives on summer tourism and a number of the trails, including the ones you mentioned, are the primary advertised roads for off highway vehicles(on every jeep rental map). They clear the major snow berms... -

I was up there a couple weeks ago and a guy at an outdoor shop in Silverton said that a lot of the "standard" trails are open because they plow them for the tourists. Just check in with a shop in Durango or call a Jeep rental place and they can tell you.
