    how deep can you go...?

This was the section of the trail where you go up to the mine building. I think it is the North trail. There is also a really cool beaver pond crossing a couple miles further in.

    how deep can you go...?

That is called the Half Moon Trail, just outside of Leadville, CO. A group of us did the trail on the GD4 this year. The water wasn't as high during the GD4 as it was when I took that picture in the spring during a Sollihul Society run. My very favorite water crossing picture for sure.

    Grrr... shredded sidewall

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... I didn't get that reaction from NWoods story. I would agree that airing down makes a big difference in durability in the sharp rocks and scree around Colorado and Utah. My old TJ flatted all the time with BFG Mud Terrains and I have yet to flat in the LR3 with Coopers...

    how deep can you go...?

One of the things that saved me in the crossing in Boaz's picture was the design of the airbox. The intake on the side of the car is actually lower than the entrance to the airbox. As a result, the water has to travel uphill before it would get into your engine. Though my intake was submerged...

    Colorado Snow Pics

No pics, but I made it to work and back with no issue. Did a few donuts in some parking lots as well :) What's with all those sissies asking to go home early because of a little snow...

Miserably failed cross axle obstacle (need off road help)

I live in Boulder, CO and drive in the snow almost every weekend in the winter to ski or play around. The Coopers have been great from the experiences that I have had. I haven't had any traction issues and I am used to driving good snow vehicles(Jeep and Audi). I would definately recommend...

    Great Divide 4 Pictures

Great pics and can't wait until next year's trip. That campsite was definately the best by far. Glad you enjoyed the water crossing too! Lucky for me, all of that is just a couple hour drive away...it's not as much fun without without the whole group though. Did you end up leaving the lift...

    Deep Water

Maguier's is the best... Just don't look too close at the paint job. After that trip and the GD4 last week, it took me about 3 hours of washing, Scratch X, polishing and waxing to get out the pinstriping. There are still a few nasty gashes though. Gotta love the battle scars.

    Buying a LR3 or maybe a LR2

I hit 20 to 22 on highway trips, without too much weight. When I had no expedition rack and the stock tires, I was able to get 22-24 on the same trips. 15-16 day to day is the norm. That didn't change much with the tires and rack. I am pretty light on the gas pedal. My wife has a 2006...

    Deep Water

I been in over my air intake (accidentally) without a snorkel in a rushing river...luckily the intake hole is downhill from the airbox in the engine bay. There were no leaks whatsoever. I would say that if you keep it below the windows (with snokel installed) for short periods of time, your...

Rod Mod - Whose are best?

Just got Ryan's rods today and put them on in the driveway. It only took about 30 minutes to put them on and I didn't even have to take the tires off. A little WD-40 made the job very easy. Only problem is pulling into the garage with the Expedition Rack on. It fits by about an inch in...

Rod Mod - Whose are best?

I was at the dealership today getting a couple things checked on and asked the service advisor about the shortened rods effect on mechanical parts. He is very knowledgable about the vehicles and I trust his opinion. He basically said it will have no effect on reliability of any of the...

    Warning lights and water

The last couple times I have gone wheeling, we have had some pretty significant water crossings. Both times, my suspension warning light has gone on(yellow) and then turned off after exiting the water. Additionally, the day after the trip(both times) my check engine light has gone on(yellow)...

Colorado LR3 (or other Rover) Owners

So far it looks like we have 3 confirms (All in the general Boulder area). Any thoughts on the trail? I can't find any current conditions on Red Cone, though it would be cool. If we all coming from Boulder, it may be worth finding something a little closer...

If you all are up for a little more epic trip, Red Cone would be fun... We'll have to make sure everything is open that links up to it, but I believe most of the trails will be open by the 20th. We would start at the top of Kenosha Pass and end near Breck or Keystone depending upon which route...

    Colorado Roads

zdas04, what is your problem man? If you know the economy in that area of the state, it thrives on summer tourism and a number of the trails, including the ones you mentioned, are the primary advertised roads for off highway vehicles(on every jeep rental map). They clear the major snow berms...

    Colorado Roads

I was up there a couple weeks ago and a guy at an outdoor shop in Silverton said that a lot of the "standard" trails are open because they plow them for the tourists. Just check in with a shop in Durango or call a Jeep rental place and they can tell you.
