    Possibly Selling My Baby

you're making me want to keep it! If I do I'll ask you for a walk through on rotor removal. Looking in the manual it does look like a real pain. Tires only have 1000 miles on them and body is solid. Thanks Joey!

    Possibly Selling My Baby

I have a 97 Disco SE7 with 135k miles. It is driven every day but needs cats, the ac leaks R134 badly and the diff lock linkage needs work (very, very stiff). Probably could use rotors and calipers (I already have the parts) too and the cruise control thingy (actuator) under the hood needs...

    AC Repair

97 Discovery SE7 135000 miles AC blows hot about 2-3 weeks after full recharge. I know there could be a thousnad reasons why but are ther any usual suspects on a Disco when this happens? Evaporator? Connections? Compressor? Thanks!

    replaciing ignition switch lock

Done! The ignition replacement was too easy. I cant help but feel that I did something wrong because nothing is ever easy on a Disco. Well it's on to the next project-rotors and calipers-which I have put off for too long.

    Front Brakes Lock up

Dirty calipers? Worn out disc pads? When the disc pads get worn down the caliper cylinders push out further and further. Sometimes they get stuck and that keeps the pressure on the rotors. Check the pads and replace. Clean the calipers. Get all the grease and dirt off them. Might have...

    replaciing ignition switch lock

Never Mind Got the shear bolts off very easily with a needle nose vice grip. They weren't even that tightt. One turn with the needle nose then they unscrewed with my fingers.

    replaciing ignition switch lock

has anyone ever replaced the ignition switch lock??? There are two shear bolts holding the ignition switch to the steering column and I dont know if I should cut them off or is there a tool that can remove them. My whole slot where the key goes in to the igntion basically disintigrated. It...

    Drive Shaft Vibration

Fuel Pump and Ignition Switch Lock Fuel pump died again after 3 years. $500 plus for the whole assembly but I just need the motor. So I ordered one for $99 on ebay. I'll elt everyone know if it works out ok. Also, incredibly, when I was trying to start my 97 Disco where my son left it...

    97 disco a/c

Low R-134. My 97 has same symptom when low on AC gas. Charge it up with 134 and use a pressure gauge. Also make sure to run both the front and rear ACs on high when you charge up the system. Good Luck.

    Drive Shaft Vibration

YES! I replaced the roto coupler and it has been fine for two years. No vibration or any other problems since replacement. Good Luck!

    Reccomendation

Hi Mike: I have the big shop manual and the Chiltons. Bought rotors, calipers and pads from Nathan (Joey's connection). Have not purchased bearings or seals. Do I need to replace them when changing the rotors? I'll send you my number to follow up. THANKS!

    Reccomendation

I am going to pretty much tear down and rebuild the brakes, rotors, rear drive shaft, air conditioning system and exhaust including cats. Plus drop the pan to clean out the oil intake and replace two tie rod ends. Anyone have a reccomendation of an honest rover mechanic in the SW suburbs of...

2000 Disco 2 runs wierd, need help!

Does anyone think Fuel Pump? My 97 would do this and more. Changed everything but the pump and it would still be hard to start, die at stop lights, etc. Fuel pumps die a slow death Joey once said and when I finally believed him and changed it, I have had no problem since. Just a thought...

    key stuck in ignition

Since I unplugger the connector under the steering cowl have had no problems and the battery is not draining. Maybe try this and you wont have to disconnect the battery every night.

    Readiness code

I was told by the Illinois emission testing person that if you cleared codes or installed new O2 sensors that you had to drive the vehicle for a couple of days in different conditions before the test so that the onboard ECU would have data for the tester to read.

    key stuck in ignition

Got the key out. It was the solenoid that prevents you from taking the key out unless it is park. I unplugged the connection that is located under the plastic cowling over the ignition. Will my battery drain if I leave this unplugged? AND, how do you repair this solenoid or replace it...

    key stuck in ignition

Somewhat common problem I think. My son now drives my 97 Disco. Today he could not get the key out of the ignition. You can start and shut off the engine and the key goes past accessory almost to the lock point. Tried jiggling, disconnecting the neg terminal on the battery, turning on...

    No start.

Problem happened to me again this morning. It wasn't the inertia kill switch it was the starter relay as Joey suggested. The starter relay is behind the kick panel on the passenger side. I found it by turning the ignition key and listening for the relay (one of three lined up in a row)...

    No start.

Its on the firewall inside the engine compartment on mine (97 Disco). May be different on yours. Its a reset button that usually has to be set after a collision but sometimes with the alarm system things go a little crazy with the electronics.

    No start.

Try resetting the collision cut off button under the hood behind the washer fluid container. I had the same issue Thursday morning. No start, no power going to the starter, just a clicking and humming from the spider relay and alarm system. Lights did not dim when I turned the key to engage...
