It BETTER NOT Look Like the Concept Vehicle!

How topical. See the D90 forum where just today I posted about repairing and reinforcing a broken ac vent. I'm looking forward to doing the hover conversion and having a MR. FUSION poking out of a hole in the bonnet.

It BETTER NOT Look Like the Concept Vehicle!

That would be great, and if it were the case I'd snap one up in a second, but I'm not holding my breath. Part of the reason for the redesign of the Defender is that even in its 2012 form it does not meet current TÜV or DOT requirements. I have a '97 Defender which I love, but there are issues...

It BETTER NOT Look Like the Concept Vehicle!

To Dream the Impossible Dream or, my Defender wish list. I hope it has coil springs over solid axles. I hope it comes with three locking diffs from the factory and that I can engage them whenever I choose. I hope there's an option to shut off the ABS-based traction control. I hope it can be...

Black Powder Coated Rims - Yes or No?

I look forward to hearing about the plasti dip process and seeing the results. Good luck!

Black Powder Coated Rims - Yes or No?

It looks like I'm in the minority here. I've always felt that black rims give a car that up-on-cinder-blocks-on-the-front-lawn boy racer look. I guess I'm just old school. I'd be worried that the tool grip compound wouldn't hold up well to off roading. I'm not so sure about powder coat either...

    Johnson Rods

BFH, are you still making the Sasquatch rods? From the photos I've seen of them elsewhere, the benefit I can see for them over other offerings is that they are infinitely adjustable. A secondary benefit is that they are made by one of us. Speaking of other offerings, one might...

2010 LR4 Brake Pads and Rotors

My Defender has a 15 gallon tank. You guys are spoiled! http://www.deutscheoptik.com/product_info.php?products_id=1718

    Johnson Rods

I love the notion that an LR4 can be "lifted" in under an hour by replacing the height sensor linkages. I don't know if this is an issue for the LR4 or not: I remember reading about a couple of instances with Range Rover Classics and airbag failure. On these occasions, the vehicle was on a...

    Universal Hi-Lift Jack Mounts?

A totally legitimate point of view. You have to be careful snagging it on branches though. Maybe. Can you tell me the diameter of the tubing on your roof rack?

    Universal Hi-Lift Jack Mounts?

I checked out the product photo, and it shows a Hi-Lift used on a slider with a step. I'm thinking that if you have the version without the step, you are totally out of luck. About Hi-Lift jacks: They can be extremely dangerous. They are best used with some training and practice. At...

    Electric start?

I'm assuming that when you say "electric start" you mean remote start. I've had them on older cars. On an older car it is a tedious installation. On a new car it would be downright daunting. Aside from the wiring required to start the car, you have the issue of the LR4 key fob needing to be...

    Someone keyed my LR4

By all means get it fixed, but in the interim concoct a good story and tell anyone who will listen how your rig got its trail rash.

    Reserve light, distance to empty....

IIRC, Topix will only gives you the owner's handbook in slices. I downloaded each of the 56 PDF files and then concatenated them into a single file for convenience. I can see why they only meet out a little at a time. The concatenated file is just over 8mb.

Flexible Loadspace protector (Part No: VPLAS0002) to contain dog hair?

Well, at least it's easier to remove the hair from the loadspace protector than the carpet. If the canines in your avatar photo are the offenders, you're lucky. I have a dog with a thick undercoat. The hair is so fine that it floats in the air easily. If all the windows are down I'm treated to...

Guesses on how long a new LR4 will last?

If your goal is to keep your car on the road without nightmare repair costs, you should buy an extended warranty for the truck and sell the truck when the warranty is up. With that in mind, practically speaking, your LR4 will last 7 years.

Flexible Loadspace protector (Part No: VPLAS0002) to contain dog hair?

I have no experience with the loadspace protector but lots of experience with dog hair. It will not be contained. There's dog hair in my truck in places that have never seen daylight. My opinion is that your attempts to contain it will be futile.

    Chicken Flooring = Awesome!

Two issues with leaving them up all the time: 1. Theft potential. 2. Continual exposure to the elements might reduce the lifespan of the cases.

    Chicken Flooring = Awesome!

Hi David, That link didn't work for me. If you are going to go with the Pelican 1780 case, you really only need one strap per case. Just be sure to thread the straps through the handles at each end. Depending on what you're packing you may find that you want to strap the bottom half of the...

    Chicken Flooring = Awesome!

Before you go out and buy more, have a close look and the ones you have. If they are shoddy, you can tell easily. Are they well assembled? Do all the parts that are supposed to meet at right angles meet at right angles? Does the mechanism operate without seeming to want to pull itself apart? Is...

    Chicken Flooring = Awesome!

Okay, I'll give it a whack. Since you're not averse to ratchet straps, how about a nice Pelican case? They are tough, waterproof, and can be used under lots of circumstances. They come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes. And they're mil-spec. Next to a jerry can, nothing on your roof rack...

    Roof Top Cargo boxes

Okay, I'll give it a whack. Since you're not averse to ratchet straps, how about a nice Pelican case? The Pelican 1780 holds about a third more than the box you cited, but can be had for just over half the cost. Get it without foam and it will cost less...
