discovered something weird with air suspension

+1 on the staying there peice.... I can lower but it feels squirrely over any imperfections in the road (if you get my drift). Haven't tried locking lowered mode; though I can't imagine wanting to ride that low in our area; roads aren't smooth enough for the most part...

Anyone use SBM inout connectors on Navi?

As I recall you need to enter "test mode" first, then choose the aux input. Don't quote me - just read it on another site, don't have NAV so haven't tested myself.

    Built in Block Heater

I did a little digging - here's my reply to a prior thread: http://www.landroverworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13731&highlight=block+heater&page=2 Basically you may have it, if it was ordered with the option (unlikely); it may be available for purchase from your LR dealer - see thread...

    Drop down DVD player

Looks slick - good work. I've got a similar set up (but with headrests and a Pioneer f500bt system that embeds garmin tech and windows CE from what I've read) and also have been wondering about the Nav prompts. The unit I have does actually have a somewhat audible nav prompt, but I don't hear...

    Sticky front seat backs

Can't say that I've noticed this; I would second the Lexol recommendation - I take a gang of guys mountain biking most weekends and even after changing shirts after the ride we're all pretty sweaty. Lexol is now part of the clean down requirement before returning the truck to my wife and kids!

    How are you getting 20mpg?

Basically speed / hill / acceleration dependent. 20 MPG requires pretty flat terrain, judicious use of throttle and no excessive speading. I take the hit and can generally get 18 MPG with speeds around the 85 MPH range; 65 MPH and 20 is pretty standard.

Difference between trim packages SE, HSE?

Yep; 3rd row available in both. HSE comes standard with NAV and upgraded stereo, larger wheels, etc. SE can be equipped with the NAV, but I don't believe you can option the stereo (if you're offroading, then the 18" wheels from the SE are probably preferrable). The HSE also has adaptive...

Soon to be Land Rover owner-few Q's

Hey, that's great news! I love to be able to at least have a bit of a clue as to what's going on when I bring stuff in to the stealership - thought I'd be in the dark on this one, but still under warranty so wasn't too concerned. Thanks! My wife noticed the sound first and mentioned that...

    used car hunt...

For brakes, I wouldn't hit the dealership anyway. It's a straightforward DIY, or as many other posters have mentioned in other threads, you'll save 50% or more by having an indy mechanic do the job - you can even order the parts yourself and save more (likewise with tires); this sould...

    used car hunt...

The dependability ratings (ie Consumer Reports et al) were lumping the LR3 in with the Discovery II, which doesn't share a single part (that I know of) with the LR3 - the DiscoI/II, while much loved amoung enthusiasts certainly wasn't as reliable as your average vehicle... I have an aging...

    Xenon Headlight question

Yes, though they are the non-swivelling type (which is stock on the SEs) - here's the thread for reference: http://www.landroverworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12194&highlight=prepare+assaulted

Soon to be Land Rover owner-few Q's

Depends on the what was entered into the system; I find that autocheck actually provides a bit more detail then Carfax, but YMMV depending on makes/modesl. You should be able to pull the actual history on the specific vehicle from any LR dealership based on the VIN to determine which TSBs have...

Soon to be Land Rover owner-few Q's

From my limited experience (bought an 06 SE7 9 months ago), it seems like the '05s were more likely to have issues, though most were sorted sometime in '06, so the build date might play into the reliability. From what's been posted here, once the issues are addressed the vehicles are as solid...

    Rear Entertainment DVD Player

I specifically didn't want an overhead flip down, but obviously to each their own! I went with headrest LCDs which are quite visible from the third row, assuming the center seat in the second row isn't occupied - from the third row, you actually look across the vehicle (ie, 3rd row right is...

    HDC/SPECIAL PROGRAMS warning lights

Battery is always a good place to start; lots of weird lights come on when the charge isn't perfect. The bouncing on the road is normal when the suspension is completely lowered - you're riding close to (or on? dunno!) the bump stops, basically with a peice of rubber providing most of the...

    Headlight bulb replacement

I've done 2 HIDs in my BMW in the 6 years that I've owned it (car is now 8 years old); the car has around 100k miles on it. Cheap and easy DIY, if you grab bulbs from eBay. One bulb may not have been a normal failure as I had to replace the ignitor (sometimes considered part of the ballast) as...

    Diagnostic Scanner/Software for the lr3

Very different tools! You are correct that it's not as in depth; I have a ScanGauge II, and actually did use it was a fair bit of success to help diagnose issues with an older LandRover (Freelander) and reset the odd CEL. However, there's no real comparison - the OBDII data really only...

    Diagnostic Scanner/Software for the lr3

We must have been posting at the same time. Definitely worth the price if you don't mind tinkering yourself. Again, let me know what you pick up, and give us all a review! I'm going to need to make a choice in the next 3 months (roughly when I run out of mileage on the factory warranty!)...

    Diagnostic Scanner/Software for the lr3

Let me know how your search goes. From what I've read the BlackBox hardware/software combo is the closest you'll get to an actual factory system - without actually coughing up for the full system. The IDS systems (Integrated Diagnostic System) is a factory/aftermarket shop tool -...

    Diagnostic Scanner/Software for the lr3

I believe the cheapest option you can find is the FaultMate MSV-2 by a company in the UK (?) called Blackbox Solutions. The have various configurations (all LandRover lines/single vehicle types/PC/standalone) and as I recall the cheapest for our vehicles is the PC based LR3 specific model. I...

    Hail Storms and the LR3

Yeah, basically; different park, but same idea - African Lion Safari in SW Ontario, Canada. Certainly nothing authentic, but my daughter just turned three, and she and her friends get a kick out of the animals; turns out the LR3 is just about perfect for viewing the animals with all the...

    Hail Storms and the LR3

Not quite hail, but I've had a bunch of 20-30 lb monkeys jump on the roof from roughly 10 feet above the truck - it made a wicked noise when they landed, but no damage. For reference, I saw them do the same to a car ahead of me, and the roof was severely dented. I would have to figure that...

Wife wants to use my Rover

My wife is a pretty decent stick shift driver, so opting for a manual doesn't help me much; our stick shift supercharged Mini was a present for her a few years back since she'd been driving the "less fun" vehicle for the last few years (babies, dogs, etc, etc) and had always wanted a Mini. She...
