My LR4 experiences in terms of mechanical issues that keep piling up
market has softened but 2013s still command a premium over older years due to (debatable) timing chain guide/tensioner redesign. another option would be to try and sell it if the ongoing maintenance and repairs are getting on your nerves. -

Timing chain…
the noise doesn’t sound too terrible but the chain slack does seem more excessive than normal. hope I’m wrong but if it quacks like a duck.. -

@RoverTide their website says that the elbow doesn’t fit NA 5.0L motor and fits only the supercharged variants. it worked fine on yours without further modifications? -

Made an appointment for timing chain fix
It is absolutely reasonable but you should get the confirmation beforehand. As far as deposit for parts, a lot of dealers charge restocking fees, and if you’re a new customer, it’s totally understandable that they’d ask you to prepay for parts. -

maintenance history since new 2013
apparently according to Escalade forum members, you shouldn’t have done any of those things and just changed oil and brake pads and would’ve been fine. clearly struck a nerve there. :-) -

the two killers of these engines are coolant component failures and timing chains (to a lesser degree). not aware of other big instances where engines just blow up. i would absolutely take care of cooling system maintenance proactively. -

like others said, get a good 1/2” cordless impact gun and a torque wrench so you never have to deal with over-tightened lug nuts ever again. -

not a ladder frame but you can try L322 of the similar vintage. i didn’t notice a huge disconnect between my L322 and the LR4s i have test driven during my (ongoing) search for one. nothing else (sequoia, lx570, Escalade) comes even close, so don’t waste your time. as others said, there’s a... -

Long crank, no faults
Check this video: its the best one I’ve seen on the topic of DIY. It looks like with front timing chains covers off and the main chains removed, there’s plenty of room to remove the vacuum pump/hpfp chain tensioner and the little chain that drives it.
