Build quality of latest Land Rovers

Yeah I've heard the brand new ones have issues of this sort and even software bugs, on my last visit to the dealership I noticed more new range rover L405s being fixed than LR3s While I intend keeping my 3 for at least 5 more years, I think I'd rather buy a 2nd hand Defender than a brand new RR...

    Diff breather, should I bother?

:confused: are they really?!? I've never been able to find them, I thought the rear one was near the rear diff (obviously higher) somewhere between the b and d pillars

    Diff breather, should I bother?

ahmm I think I read somewhere that the old one had issues venting the pressure or somethinglike that. This doesn't happen with the updated one hence protecting the diff from building pressure which eventually leads to leaks or worse.

    Diff breather, should I bother?

woow I thought they updated it in late 2007 or something! Anyhow when you get the part remember to make the cut facing towards the rear.

    Diff breather, should I bother?

Open your bonnet and check it, if it looks like this one it is the old one, otherwise you've got the updated version. You can google the part number for an idea of what the new one looks like

    Diff breather, should I bother?

Brilliant, I ordered it already, wasn't in stock so it was backordered, 10 business days

Great going Land Rover North America

Come on mate, manoftaste has a point here! unfortunately nowadays 90% of Range Rover's market consists of housewives and dbags who barely now how an internal combustion engine works, let alone being aware of the difference between petrol and diesel! IMO the diesel engine would be much more...

    Diff breather, should I bother?

So I read they updated the front differential breather for LR019450, my LR3 has got the old one, should I bother updating it or is there no real difference?

    Wheel Color Opinions

I vote for matte gun metal or a very dark grey. I too think matte colour looks a bit better.

17" Wheels - How I got them on my LR3

yah I did misunderstand now I see what you said, makes perfect sense, the 3's brakes seem proper to stop the LR4 I wasn't aware that the new are bigger, in that case it I don't think it's a hazard then! Gosh 4 sets?! so cool!! hahaha can't wait to graduate I'll buy at least 2 sets

17" Wheels - How I got them on my LR3

20? you actually have twenty 18" wheels ?! wow am I misunderstanding? if not hahah any 4 for sale? hahaha anyhow I think that swapping brakes may be a bit of a hazard, I mean there's a reason for the V8 to have bigger brakes! I'd never swap those! IMO traction control and overall design are so...

    EBC brake pads

I'm not really sure, I bought it 7k miles ago (currently 64k miles) but as the service history is full of dealership's work, I guess they are OEM. They still look good tho so I don't think I'll replace them any time soon.

    EBC brake pads

Brilliant, I'll order them right away then, shipping to Mexico can take over a week and mine sound like they'll barely last 10 more days

    EBC brake pads

My rear brake pads are almost gone and I am thinking of replacing them with EBC's greenstuff! is anyone here using those? do you recommend them or should I stick to OEM? thanks!

    Random Errors, what you think?

hahaha I touched wood not to jinx you of course. replacing an air strut, a sensor and a "few" compressors, hahaha I love how you say that as if it was replacing the windscreen wipers each air strut costs more than 700 usd in my country (stealership asks for around 1300 usd), the compressor...

    Random Errors, what you think?

for the record I do like the EAS and might just buy the AMK compressor but I hate the fact that there are many parts that can (eventually will) fail like valves, air pipes, and so on...

    Random Errors, what you think?

hahahah Houm I cannot even believe you've managed to stay clear of issues with it! gosh are you lucky! Anyhow the Defender, Land Cruiser, Wrangler, Merc's Gclass etc. have all got either axles or coils, I don't think that's a coincidence. Also, the head mechanic at my dealreship told me exactly...

    Random Errors, what you think?

according to the dealership it was a small leak in the dryer of the compressor, they of course offered to change thewhole compressor instead of the dryer, I patched the leak and now get the light WAY less often, I will run the compressor as is until it burns out, then I'll probably swap for...

    LR4 vs RRS offroad

I'm not really sure as I've never been in a RRS offroad, but according to this video, the LR3/4 is well better: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPJYB4Vcw3g One can see how the discos just clear the hill without issues but the RRS has a bit of a hard time after the 6 minutes mark.

    Tonga green bumper

thanks PaulLR3, I do have the HSE with xenon. I understand that other than the headlamps and a tiny bit of battle with the bumper, everything else is just plug and play. thorgal I am well aware that the headlamps won't fit unless trimming (or replacing) the wings, there's a post of a very...

    Tonga green bumper

hahaha it is indeed a bit over the top but I am sure roverman means it in a good way, I of course get what he says and mostly share his point of view. (Even tho if carmakers do a face-lift why shouldn't one? they don't bother on designing a new car why should one bother buying it?) Anyhow,of...

    Tonga green bumper

gosh I just asked if the bumper was available in tonga green! And clearly said "IF I want to do a face-lift". That doesn't mean I will do it.
