Thanks for the heads up. You can see how much lower it has dropped in price: http://camelcamelcamel.com/Antigravity-Batteries-AG-XP-10-Multi-Function-Starter/product/B00MQ5Z5F2

    Brakes on 2011 LR4

Yes, many are. Loads of posts about it, a simple search will provide a lot of useful information.

    LR5 Release Updates?

That is optimistic, take a lot longer than that to switch over to new tooling. It likely gets shown at a Fall show like Frankfurt/Paris (forget which one it is this year) then US sales starting early the following year.

PSA for 2015 LR4 owners - eletrical issue

They did. The recall/campaign re-flashed some software and has fixed it, it was the cooler box causing a circuit to overload. It has been over a year with no issue.

18 inch wheels for off road

Is anybody looking to sell their Compomotives or do another group buy? I am open to grey or black but prefer grey. Please reply or PM if you have a set. Thanks.

    19" Tires ONLY - Recommendations

One more vote for the Nokians. WRG3's are an amazing tire, good-year round. For the most hardcore snow/ice, their R2 is amazing. A little squishy in dry weather as to be expected from a dedicated snow. Both come in 255/55/19.

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

Those are all BS. Do brake fluid next time you need brakes or if the pedal feels mushy, otherwise they are just trying to get you to spend more. "4x4 service"? lol, love to hear the explanation for that.

Good folks there. Are they also doing the inspection?

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

BTW, I echo Paul's comments. Carefully check tires, brakes, bushings, hubs/bearings. Major wear items given the weight of the LR and you are in the mileage sweet spot for all of them.

Just bought a '11 LR4 HSE LUX (sort of)

I just replaced that cowl on my car, not the end of the world. Part is reasonable for LR and the dealer could replace it in 10 minutes. If not, happy to help, I'm local. What dealer are you buying from?

    LR5 Release Updates?

Just had one (Disco "Sport") for a loaner. Felt so cheap, tinny. I know it sits at a different price point but felt like it was from a totally different brand...

Rear brake pads wearing faster than fronts?

Check the clearance on the rears and make sure your pads aren't dragging without the brakes being applied.

    LR5 Release Updates?

Good article, thanks for posting. Agree, we will see it as a 2018MY launch, previewed late next year with early-mid 17 production. I do not have high hopes, holding out for a good refresh of the Defender, but not really a replacement. I wonder what we will do once the LR4 runs its course...

LOL. Discovery Sport Named One of CR's 4th Worst Cars in 2015

I had a Disco "Sport" (have to laugh at that) as a loaner the other day. I thought it was awful and agree with the CR comments, hard for me to even write that. It is gutless, almost no power below 2500rpm. I honestly kept looking at the gear lever and dash wondering if I was starting in 2nd...

Discovery sport drive position compared to lr4

From what most report, the Land Cruiser sounds like a peer in terms of off-road prowess. It may not have the same wading or hard-core rock crawling ability but not far off overall. I would never buy one because I can stand the Toyota "jellybean" styling, it hasn't been updated for longer than...

    Crash tests?

Except the new supernatural side steps now standard on LR4's and their magical powers will prevent crashes from even happening... :D

    LR4 vs. Volvo XC90

Looking at a few CPO cars, a few questions on what to look for.

Normal break wear at those levels unfortunately. I go through a set between 15-20k miles. Normally the rotors should be fine (ignore dealers who tell you you have to do pads and rotors at the same time regardless of rotor thickness), so you can get a set to last 30k or so.

Rear brake pads wearing faster than fronts?

Rears are substantially smaller than fronts for both the LR3 (just changed mine) and LR4. Rotors normally last for two sets of pas for me, but that comes out to ~35-40k miles. One other point to note is traction control. If you wind up doing a lot of snow driving rears also get more wear.

    Pulley and ECU Tune

You aren't going to get much if anything out of a normally aspirated engine. The appeal for the new SCV6 is toying with boost and pulley for the blower, very easy to make gains with limited ECU programming and a small amount of hardware (subject to an unknown impact on longevity.)

    Pulley and ECU Tune

ETG claims its tune yields 41hp, 71hp with revised pulley. I don't doubt the gains are possible from forced induction, just would worry about engine life and voiding warranty.

Am I correct in assuming that the LR4 key fob is not waterproof?

No way it is waterproof. I don't know for sure but would be shocked if it was. The buttons are not integrated into the covering like the LR3 key, and the sliding compartment for the physical key looks to have gaps to the housing where the battery and circuits are.

    LR5 Release Updates?

I just don't care for the styling and think it lacks the distinction of the current LR4 and last FF RR. I like most of the styling of the new FF RR except for the headlights, and I am very turned off by the new Sport. It just doesn't look like a Rover should, even setting aside the similarities...
