    SCV6 overheated and then catastrophe

They can't find the source of the catastrophic coolant leak? Is this the same shop that supposedly did the previous work? Sounds like a crossover failure to me. Did you get the old parts back when they did the original work?

2013 heater manifold (back crossover) replacement questions

Nice, that looks like it would do the job. Did you install one of these?

2013 heater manifold (back crossover) replacement questions

Do you work for Lucky8 lol. $100 for parts that will basically fit in a letter envelope and $84 to ship? I get lots of stuff shipped from the US and nothing comes close to the shipping cost from Lucky. I'm sure they tack on a significant handling charge, but I digress. I didn't know that it...

2013 heater manifold (back crossover) replacement questions

Here is the joy of living in Canada: Lucky8 set of 8 intake gaskets $100 USD Shipping $84.81 USD Total $184.81 USD convert to $236.80 CAD Lucky8 really screws us Canadians. FCP Euro Is much cheaper at about $84 USD delivered but does no include duties. Who know what that will be. I'm assuming...

2013 heater manifold (back crossover) replacement questions

I recently replaced the water pump and front crossover on my 2013 LR4 5.0L. Thought I was good to go for a while until I read a recent post of a blown motor (overheat) due to a failure of the heater manifold. I wasn't aware that the heater manifold was a potential issue otherwise I would have...

    Transmission (6HP28) drain and fill

Interesting... This is from the service manual. I thought it was a drain plug. 10mm hex

    Transmission (6HP28) drain and fill

I would like to do a simple drain and fill and for the life of me I cannot find a thread I read a while back on this (next time I will watch the thread, I'm new here!) Couple quick questions... I seem to remember that the transmission should be within a certain temperature range when filling...

Really Stupid Question - Time required to reach operating temperature (V6)?

A 15 minute idle in those temps would get me to about 1/3-1/2 of normal operating temp. After a 10 minute drive I would be very close to normal operating temp, if not all the way. Mine is a 5.0L so not a direct comparison, but that is my experience, and we see very cold temps up here. You could...

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

Pulled it apart today and expected to find the leakage coming from the left side of water pump (because of the top left bolt hole that I possibly stripped on install), but it appears to me that it's leaking from the seam of the water pump itself. I'm not positive though because I guess it's...

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

Thank you for that recommendation, I just checked them out. I didn't know these existed but I will definitely use these in the future for higher torque applications. Due to the cost (3-4X) and wait time for shipping I'll try the Helicoil this time, but I'll keep time sert in mind for the next one.

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

That was what I was hoping to do but the local LR stealers don't have any if you can believe that. They can order them in but I have to take a pack of 10. $35 and 1-2 weeks. What a joke. After talking to a few people, and from the advice given on this thread I'm pretty confident it's a 1.00...

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

Yes you are correct they are to be torqued to 8 ft/lbs. In hindsight I should have just torqued them by feel with a 1/4" ratchet rather than trusting a cheap torque wrench that I had never used before. Live and learn I guess. Fortunately the stripped out hole is the easiest to access so...

Stripped bolt hole for 5.0L water pump

Long story short, I cheaped out on a torque wrench and stripped out a bolt hole on my 2013 LR4. I actually did this water pump replacement in Sept 2021 and when torquing one of the bolts it would get some resistance but it wouldn't snug up. Pulled out the bolt and there were a small amount of...

    Door lock actuator

    Excellent video, thank you!

    Door lock actuator

So was it actually the actuator that needed replacing or just the the "white plastic bit"? The rear drivers side on my LR4 is not working. I was going to just order the actuator and repair but maybe I should pull it apart and inspect first. Any tips or tricks to removing the interior door panel...

    Intro and oil type/interval/filter questions

Thanks for the replies everyone, much appreciated. For this change I have the AC Delco filter and I'll use Mobile 1 5W20. I went through the owners manual to see if they recommended a different oil for colder temps but it's not in there. It can get pretty cold up here so I was considering 0w20...

    Intro and oil type/interval/filter questions

Hello all I am new to the LR world and I have a few questions I was hoping to get sorted out. I recently purchased a 2013 LR4 from my friend and original owner. It has 136K KM on the clock and it has the 5L engine and heavy duty package. All of the scheduled maintenance is up to date and...
