Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

2012 LR4 LR3 wheels Spacers 1.0” BFG 265/65/18 Black gorilla nuts New TPMS added Rubbing of frame horns at full lock Caliper fins needed slight grinding No luck on getting full size spare loaded (old style LR hitch mounted and didn’t have time to remove - no key) Will get frame horns shaved...

    Another Defender hint?

Anyone have some thoughts regarding the ‘doability’ of hauling a motorcycle on a hitch mount with the spare tire on the back? Currently, mine sits a reasonable distance off of the rear of the LR4 so maybe even with the spare, there would be enough room?

Blame Tesla for really making that feature of seeing a pic of the car you are driving such a ‘hot item’.

    20" wheels

265/65/18 seems to be the ‘safe’, no modification tire size for the 18s. Cooper, BFG and others all really good tires. Just remember you need spacers (1.25) so its not a trivial switch but if you can live with the ‘look’ of the 18s, you don’t need to switch out tires. Really depends how much...

    Swing away tire carrier

That tactical solution is a nice set-up but all-in, with full options, makes for a pretty serious $$$ commitment. I like it, but do i like it that much...? However, as I have a RTT, that extra storage for gas etc... would be great.

Looking for advice on taking a stock LR3 up a notch to be a bit more capable

To date, I have just left it on. it is not a DD and it 'just' fits in underground parking. They aren't difficult to remove and at 160lbs, not too tough to handle if you do think about taking it off tho.

Looking for advice on taking a stock LR3 up a notch to be a bit more capable

I’m in the same boat and interested in what you do and the advice here. I have a 2012 LR4 that was a DD and now lives in Colorado and will see more off road and camping duty. I am putting LR3 18” wheels on with the BFG 265/65s. I also liked the Falken 265/70s for their taller profile but want...

Local Tire store refuses to install S rated tire on 2015 LR4

Makes sense to me that places like Discount would only support factory equivalent or better load ranges: "The load index explicitly indicates how much weight a tire can carry."

Looking to by LR4 Confilcted between 2013 and 2014 model

2013 is preferred by enthusiasts because it’s the the last year to get the 5.0 V8 which is pretty much universally preferred over the SCV6. With regards to the timing chain issue I think as previously mentioned, it’s a bit of a crap shoot. There are many stories of LR4s with high miles and no...

    Another Defender hint?

Of the 1% of LR4 owners who actually care about the tires on their vehicle, 99% of them are posting on this thread [emoji851] The rest, are, well, just putting on what they are told by dealer/tire shop.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

They are what Scott Brady used and he said he was positive on them but there were some fitment issues that he would explain in a later post but I never saw anything on that and now he has moved on from the LR4. I'm sure I will end up with the BFGs but I liked the tall/skinny aspect of the...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

I found some slightly used 1.25” spacers from Motorsports for the LR4 for a good price so will try those out on the 18”s. Thoughts on the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W? I’d like to try the 265/70r/18s. If not, the BFGs 265/65r/18s. Falken Load rating: SL (not E) 2756lbs 116T

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Ok, this is a little more ‘wheel’ than ‘tire’ oriented but... What is the minimum spacer width when using the LR3 18” wheels on the LR4? I have seen the following referenced: 1.25” 30mm 25mm Assuming less is more in this case, what is the minimum size without having to mod?

    POWDER COATING STOCK WHEELS

$65/wheel for powder coating is a great price. I think you should budget up to $150/wheel if you take it to most shops. Includes them taking wheels off and on. I had mine done in matte black for the stock OEM 19’s (2012) and love the results. You can choose from a number of colors. Don’t forget...

    largest tire with no lift

I have the Michelin Premiere LTX and agree on the shallow tread depth but your experience is reassuring. I've got a relatively light Offroad trip coming up in a few weeks and will see how they do. I have been thinking of the Coopers for the next set.

Cooper Zeon LTZ Off-Road tires on Stock 19" Wheels

Just so I am clear: you are running 255/55/19s and can deflate to 20psi without issue?

    largest tire with no lift

The idea for offroad driving is to have the tallest tire possible so that you have the sidewalk size to be able to deflate the tire for the best traction and pinch flat protection. So getting to a /65 or even a /60 aspect ration is the way to go but you need an 18” wheel (or smaller) in order to...
