New LR4, Old LR3...what to do?

Guilty. Recently bought a 2015 LR4 to join my 2012 LR4. The '12 is earmarked for more offroad and the '15 is the everyday truck. Had the pleasure of camping last weekend with the '15 and was reminded again how much you can do with these "big boxes". Air mattress and rear end awning and good to go.

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

    Any thoughts about these? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F333141905802

    Terrible audio

The audio is not great. I have a ‘12 HSE with some form of upgraded audio system and it still has never been any good. I’ve not had the issue you around devices not playing but overall audio is very average. Also, when I looked into it, not any easy ways to upgrade the system. I also have a...

    Showoff Your LR4

I don't have much wind noise but keep in mind I have the Skycamp mounted along with the iKamper wind deflector. Not sure how the Rhino alone would be for wind noise.

18" Wheels - EVO CORSE DAKARZERO

I guess the good news is there is built up demand for the product! [emoji12]

18" Wheels - EVO CORSE DAKARZERO

Agreed. Even if they have been slow to make their way to the States, there have to be pics on a LR somewhere!?!

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

This definitely... should be changed around 75k and it’s not like changing the fluids is a big mechanical risk.

Is it possible to remove the middle seat

How about a fridge that would fit in that middle space when the seats were in the 'low flat' position? This is how we sleep flat (with no drawers or platform) in the LR4. Maybe too low for any sort of reasonable fridge...?

    Showoff Your LR4

I never got to stand on it but seems really solid. I guess some worry about the glass on the roof being damaged but the Pioneer is well built.

    Showoff Your LR4

Yea, it is a commitment to be sure and, of course, I want to do the 18” wheels too [emoji15] but that will have to wait for now...

75k mile service - diff and transfer case fluid change

I recommend getting and paying for the best. In the long run... I waited till 80k to do the big fluid change - was happy to spend the $$$ at that point.

    Showoff Your LR4

Oh yea! Just got the iKamper Skycamp 2X 2.0 put on top of a Rhino Pioneer rack. 7 years and 90k miles and she still has some new tricks in her [emoji12] With just the Rhino

    2012 LR4 Slow interface screen

My 2012 electronics are solid in terms of display but definitely very, very slow. It’s the only aspect of the LR4 that has disappointed and there were never very many options for upgrade unfortunately.

    GAP TOOL USES SURVEY

I just got mine and have only had a short time to play with it. Changing ride height is great and being able to store pre-sets for that. I was kind of shocked with all of the fault codes though. I have a long list that I haven’t gone through in detail. Mine is a 2012 with about 80,000 and just...

    Timing Chain repair costs

So, for fun ;) I got in touch with the class action lawyers and it is tied to specific states though they are interested in representatives in new states. It is still not clear whether you have to have a timing chain failure first in order to qualify or you can go with the "it's going to fail"...

    Timing Chain repair costs

Thanks for posting this information. It has helped me to get the process started. 2012 with 80k, so similar situation also with noise but no performance issues to date. Oddly, i just had mine in for a pretty extensive 80k overhaul at a reputable LR 3rd party shop and they did not make any...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO!? BUYING MY FIRST LR4...

These single data point forum submissions always make me laugh “mine was a total piece of junk or mine was fantastic”?!? That’s not going to mean anything statistically significant. The point made early in the thread about distance to a qualified LR mechanic or dealer is a worthy...

WHAT WOULD YOU DO!? BUYING MY FIRST LR4...

Good advice here. I just got the 75k/80k service done on my 2012 (V8) and it wasn't a trivial expense. I was pretty happy to do it as the LR4 has been a very low maintenance vehicle for all of those miles. I like the V8 too, but really, I think most will be happy with the LR4 in either engine...

    Preemptive 80K mile service...

I'm getting my 2012 LR4 back today from a 80,000 mile service done by a good independent LR shop. In addition to the key fluid changes, I replaced the lower control arm assembly as bushings were shot, water pump replaced along with crossover pipe (small leak in both). There was also some sort...

New Voyager Low Profile Roof Rack and Ladder

Thanks for this post. I have been lurking around in the rack idea for a long time now and have always liked the Voyager - regular or low. Believe the Voyager installs without the need for the factory rails (?). Anything interesting about the install?

    Preemptive 80K mile service...

Heck, I didn't even know about about a 'Y-pipe' issue until I started following this thread. For all the talk about issues with Land Rover, I'm happy to say that the LR4 has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. It makes a man a little complacent I guess.

    Preemptive 80K mile service...

Maybe, but mine did about 78k in the brutal heat of the Gulf Coast (before being retired to Colorado) and never had that issue. One data point at least.
