If the plugs ends where black, then you may have the wrong plugs or running to rich. If plugs where a grey/brown and the oil was only in the well, you may have a rocker cover gasket loose.
Have found these connectors - for MY08 Discovery's these connectors are not in the wheel well but are in the engine compartment above and below the LH headlight

it is possible that you may have a spring or the metal bar in wrong. I always chamfer the narrow ends of brake shoes so that they do not pick up until bedded in. Did you tighten the adjusting screw up till brakes shoes were centred in hub and you cannot turn hub, then back them off eight (8)...

Thanks for that but I do not have anything like that - my model is a 2007 built but 2008 model so maybe they are different. I have written to Land Rover Customer service asking them where the connectors are so we will see what happens.

Trynian, Had a good look around after taking out the wheel arch lining and found 'nothing' resembling a connector. Anyone have a picture of what I am looking for.
The vehicle is a 2007 discovery 3 but the vin indicates 2008 model and the build indicates 2007, hope that makes sense.
