    2005 LR4 Key newbie

You should be able to replace the battery in your keyfob without a problem. Adding a new keyfob takes some work. You either need to buy an iiD tool from GAP Diagnostic plus a new keyfob, or you need to take it to a Land Rover dealer. The former does not really require any mechanical knowhow...

    pizza cutters...General Grabber ATx

This guy's channel is Toyota-centric, but it's the best channel I've ever seen to go in-depth on what modifications really do versus the myth. His videos on lifting independent suspension vehicles and "long travel" control arms are outstanding.

    pizza cutters...General Grabber ATx

My ride quality immensely improved over stock when I moved to 18" wheels with 265/65/18 e-rated tires. More rubber trumps the stiffer sidewall.

    Highest mileage LR4?

Too beaucoup for me. I'd also need to see a BMW v8 in the field for about 10 years before I'd ever consider one. I'd either go with the 4cyl or the 6cyl. Reliability on both of those seems pretty decent so far. For really long term, the 4 cyl may be more reliable as it doesn't have all the...

    Highest mileage LR4?

I feel sort of the same, only I've had my LR4 for over 8 years now. Depending on what happens over the next year or so, I could see selling within 6 months or keeping it for another couple of years. Gun to my head right now, I'd probably either pick a new Defender or a used G-Wagon for my next...

    Highest mileage LR4?

I can tell you what's wrong with that math: the hypothetical. The sub $10k LR4 is sub-$10k because it needs a lot of maintenance. Anyone who's done the work is stating it in their listing and asking for more money.

Anyone care to admit this was them? Off the edge of a cliff and recovery from Matt's Offroad Recovery.

Despite the many shortcomings, the LR3 and LR4 appear to be extremely safe vehicles in accidents. Here's an old article that states there were zero fatalities reported from 2006 to 2009 in either the LR3 or the RRS (which was essentially the same vehicle)...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Land Rovers in general are highly dependent on prior owners taking good care of the vehicle. When I go to work with coworkers who are decidedly "non car" people - or just "car people" enough to buy a nice car and that's about it - it scares me how little they actually care about their cars...

    Highest mileage LR4?

I'm at 136k miles and burning zero oil.

Transfer case and diff oil change

That's just small wear from your gears. Fine metal particles. So long as there are no big chunks of metal you are probably okay.

LR4 Front Fender Modification for Larger Tires

I assume you are referring to the wheel size chart on the Johnson Rod website? That thing is about as trustworthy as a Nigerian email. As you've learned, the limit of tire size on an LR4 is not suspension height, it's turning radius. Many have trimmed that frame horn. Be also forewarned that...

bad lower ball joint lead to howling?

If you've ever replaced your brake rotors, replacing the hubs is just one thing further. Hammering the old hub out worked best for me. Easy job.

    2016 LR4 Suspension Issue

Cheapest source for an original compressor is one of the UK-based suppliers, LR Centre. I had an AMK compressor and some new tubes (they call it an installation kit) shipped to me for about $550. Of course, it's still sitting on my shelf because I wound up not needing it just yet.

Still could be the compressor. Maybe the center valve block, though.

    Ironman 4x4 Drawers

I still have not had any opportunity to mess with these drawers. They are still sitting "loose" in the back of the LR4. But one thing I wished I would have realized before I bought them is that they do not use typical drawer slides. Instead, they use a system of rollers and a channel. You...

    Ironman 4x4 Drawers

You can kind of see what the construction of these drawers is like in this video: Those drawers seem a little downmarket. Mine are carpeted inside and the finish looks a bit better. But the general construction is the same. There's no real panel on the bottom. Just a bit of frame. I'm...

    Ironman 4x4 Drawers

The front runner drawers are offset. One drawer is wider than the other. This makes it so the center support of the drawer system is offset, allowing for a straight shot down to the spare tire winch using one or more access panels. (You can see the access panel on the top of the Front Runner...

    Ironman 4x4 Drawers

I'll have to take the drawers apart when I remove them (too heavy to remove as a unit), so I'll see more what sort of customization I can do then. It may be this weekend. Who knows. The weather has been so abysmal here lately it's putting a lot of things off. Right now, these drawers are...

    Ironman 4x4 Drawers

Putting it on the roof rack is too high up and would raise the center of gravity too much. Either the Tactical rear bumper or the Terrafirma rear tire mount are probably in my future. On Land Cruisers the spare is mounted in the same spot, but the winch is accessed from the outside through a...

    Ironman 4x4 Drawers

My Ironman 4x4 drawers arrived today. These are the "900 mm" ones found here: https://ironman4x4america.com/storage-systems/locksafe-twin-drawers-900mm/ The "blue" edge is a protective film over a metal trim piece. Exterior dimensions are: Cabinet Length 35.43" (900mm) Cabinet Height...

    defender 110 access height

77.6 would be the standard height. Maybe even the maximum height. No way it's the height at access height. That's the way it is on the LR4, at least. My parking garage at work is 6' 5" and my LR4 just barely fits under the warning bar on my 265/65/18 tires.

    Control arm fail

Hard to say if I had any symptoms because I went from poly LCA bushings to rubber ones at the same time. Come to think of it, the stiffer poly bushings in my LCAs could be why my rubber UCA bushings went bad.

    Control arm fail

No other symptom. I get annual alignments, but do go offroad a bit. Some potholes in Kansas City, but nothing too bad compared to a lot of towns. I had just bought front uppers thinking they were probably due with my LR4 having 133k miles on it. Had my indy do them at the same time as he...

If you found O-Rings that actually work, you're the first I've heard of. Hardly any of the ones I got fit.
