Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

Let us know if you end up going with 275/65r18 and if and how much the rub. I will be looking to reduce my tire size (265/70r18) when my current tires wear down. The 265/70 tires rub a little more than I would like.

David, No problem. I'm out of town the first weekend of February visiting family but if you head out any other time let me know. Your LR4 is really coming along. Can't wait to see it in person. Josh

Those pictures look great! You're really breaking in the truck. Let me know next time you head out and I'll try to join. It's been too long since I've been offroad.

    "Only Normal Height Available" display

Check the dryer also. Do a search over in the LR3 forum. There are a few write ups with the same issue. Here is a link to one of them. http://www.landroverworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25037

    275/65R18 or 265/70R18

I think it's the angle of the picture. The tire is turned all the way to the driver side in those pictures. I measured the side walls and it's 6" from rim to edge of tire.

    275/65R18 or 265/70R18

Here are two more pictures of the DS wheel turned all the way left and the PS wheel turned all the way left. It doesn't look like there is clearance on the PS but there is about 0.5". If you have any other questions or want any additional pictures let me know.

    275/65R18 or 265/70R18

Expat93, I confirmed tire size this morning and I'm running 265/70r18. I'm using stock LR wheels since it's an LR3. Here are some pictures with it at normal ride height with the Johnson rods. Also attached is a picture of the DS rear wheel where it rubs and the PS front wheel where it rubs...

Why no chains on rear wheels?

I wouldn't worry about the chains. I understand your concern and lived in Dallas for most of my life. But you are driving a completely different vehicle than the RWD car. If you use common sense while driving and put it in 4 wheel drive snow mode you should not have any problems. I've driven...

    LED Off Road Light Bars

Assuming the LR4 is the same as the LR3 you can pop the A Pillar cover off to run the wiring. I had to pull mine off when I mounted the snorkel (LR3). Be careful when pulling it off though, the plastic clips that connect it to the metal break easily. A light bar will really look nice up...

    Lift Kit Anyone?

Sorry for the poor quality but here is a picture with Johnson Rods and 265/70/r18. You can have it in Access Height. I have to use this mode to enter the parking garage for work. However, with this size tire there is rubbing while in Access Mode and turning at a certain angle in normal mode...

    Insurance for LR4 & RRS

This is his first time to purchase vehicles in the states and I believe he is currently out of the country. I think he's just making sure he has everything covered before he gets here.

It's looking really good David. Can't wait to see what you decide for lights. My vote is for LED also.

    Turn in or sell?

Another thing to think about is if you trade it in, you only have to pay sales tax on the difference between the new vehicle and the trade in. If you sell your current LR4 privately then you will have to pay sales tax on the entire new purchase.

    Off-Roading Picture

David, great pics. You've done an awesome job with your LR4. It's good to know there are places to off road in the area. I recently moved to SF and have been wanting to take mine out. Josh

Need advice on LR4 20 inch wheel tire options

Thanks for the input. I will have the same setup. I put the 2.5" Johnson Rods on over the weekend and had it aligned yesterday. Wheels are being powdercoated today and tires tomorrow. If you end up pushing in the bump outs, let us know if it solves the rubbing. Thanks again.

Need advice on LR4 20 inch wheel tire options

lovison, how much do the tires rub? Did you lift it before installing wheels and tires? I have an LR3 that I'm putting the same size tires on tomorrow and was curious. By the way it looks great!

Would this winch work on LR3?

If you're looking to save some money you could go with a Smittybilt XRC10 or 12. I have had a XRC8 on my Jeep for a few years and have had no problems.

You can get the polys separately. I think it's just over a $100 to get the front lower ones.
