Hey Charles - Its been a while!
Difffs and xfer case are very easy. I did mine a month ago with my 13 year old son helping. I did use fluids from the dealer - there aren't many (if any) options.
Neither diff has a washer - use thread sealer on the drain plug.
The xfer case... I...
And I'd like to add that I initially felt confident with a heavy camper, but downsized to one that weighs less than 4000 lbs fully loaded... Its a much nicer feeling when I nearly forget that the camper is back there.
Was this DIY or did you take it in?
If DIY - what fluid did you use? I know the recommended is the SAF XO... I actually have 1 quart of the stuff from the dealer, and it says "special" gear lube 75w90 synthetic.
Does anyone know if this really is special or if a Royal Purple/Mobil 1...
I have a friend who owns his own shop. He's been in business for 20 years. I have taken cars to him for a long time and trust him explicitly to do work on my cars. But I will not have him work on my Land Rovers. Aside from the fact that I enjoy working on my trucks, he doesn't know jack...
Mike, please be careful what forum you are posting in. This is not the first time - I would hate for misinformation to live on this forum for someone to stumble upon later. I cannot confirm that the Valvoline meets the LR3 specs. I went to a local auto parts store and it did not specify ISO...
Has anyone bled their brakes?
Anyone have experience with the Castrol GTLMA that Atlantic British sells?
How much fluid capacity does the brake system have?
Thanks!
Hey Tommy - I am in the Chicago area and know of several resources in that part of town in our club who can help you out. Send me a message if you get stuck. In the meantime check out chicagolandroverclub.com
The wiring was very easy. The pictures can be a little confusing, but they are accurate. If you don't see what the picture shows, most likely you are looking at the wrong thing. The colors and pin numbers were perfectly detailed. No wires need to be cut or spliced, its all done via quick...
I believe I paid about 1600 for it. It wasn't cheap, but its very good picture quality, and my son likes to play the included video games :)
It does integrate fully with the sound system. Installation was easy. You can listen via the wireless headsets or through the stereo speakers. Most...
Sorry to the OP (and everyone else) for the hijack!
I've seen Nathan's setup... I also thought I saw that reception wasn't the greatest... plus with the mount so low, the antenna required to clear the top of the truck would be pretty whippy even if it were fiberglass, and end up whacking...
The rear fogs are standard, and I was also confused about what turned on when I first got the truck
It seems that rear fogs are standard on my disco also.
They are actually very helpful in certain situations. Last month, I spent several days running trails in the UP. They were...
I finally got the truck into the shop (and back)... No codes, and no issues with stalling since.
However, the engine and trans ECUs were both in and "unknown" state. So, they updated the software. We'll see if that changes anything.
I wonder if the ECU couldn't adapt to the changes in...
Hey all,
I just returned from a great trip - from Chicagoland to DeSmet SD (Laura Ingalls homestead - 9 year old daughter - worth the stop), Badlands, Black Hills, Little Bighorn, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and back home. All told over 3800 miles in 2 weeks.
The truck performed...
I use ramps. I think they are 12K total capacity. I'm not sure. Thet were the larger capacity of the two at PepBoys. They work fine.
The skid plate is not all that heavy, but there are a ton of bolts. You'll have to remove both skid plates, as the front one is below the filter. Get some...
