    On the subject of warranties

I put a deposit down on an LR4 and it will arrive in late October. When I did so, I asked my dealer for a quote on an extended warranty. He came back with several options, one of which was the 7yr/100K option. He also had a 7yr/70K for just $2938, but I think I drive too much to do that one...

    On the subject of warranties

The only thing I don't like about what you describe is the $500 deductible. That seems awfully high. I have a similar extended warranty quote, that I may act on, and its deductible is $100 (overally price is $4340 for a 7/100K). Can you negotiate that deductible?

Yep. Very beautiful. Thanks for posting, and thanks for bumping. :)

Took the rig off road - now my center stack squeaks

With a $60K automobile, your dealer should fix that squeak. Period. When mine shows up in a couple of months, if I hear a squeak, a rattle, or anything except silence, the dealer is on the hook. Considering all the hassle I went through to even buy one, it's the least my dealer can do.

    Deep water!

I like that one better. I mean, they're both insane, but the second one features one helluva recovery.

    Lr4 Brakes

I do this with new cars as well, though I thought it was less about the life of the brakes and more about having smooth brakes (no shudder). Either way, it's simple to do (finding a large parking lot, imo, is the way to do it, unless you have access to a track) and while you wait for your brakes...

    Land Rover Expedition America

Yeah, I was beginning to wonder, after seeing some photos of that trail. Cool undertaking nonetheless, but I agree, it's a far cry from that road in South Africa the guy on Youtube (4xforum?) drove (Baboon Pass I think it was called). Longer, but safer.

    Land Rover Expedition America

Here's a video interview of Tom Collins from Land Rover, discussing the expedition: http://www.citizen-times.com/VideoNetwork/2568015927001/Land-Rover-off-road-expedition-from-Asheville-to-Oregon

Things you wish you knew when you purchased your first Land Rover

That is a great how-to and the pictures are hugely helpful. I was taught by a police officer in New York City that a Maglite 6-D Cell flashlight should be part of any car, so I always carry one. But I never thought to mount it. In my current car it fits nicely under the front seat; I'll have to...

Just picked up my new '13 Corris Gray HSE

Well, I'm part of the waiting-game-club now. I officially put down my deposit today for a 2013. As of now its ETA is simply "October". Gonna be a long three months....

    On the subject of warranties

The 6yr/100K I'm looking at is being offered by my Land Rover dealer, through a company (with a $100 deductible). This is on a new 2013, not a CPO.

    On the subject of warranties

Have any of you purchased an extended warranty with your LR4? I am considering a 6 year / 100K extended. And are there any gotchas with the standard warranty (anything you were surprised to find out wasn't covered)? Thanks. I have reached the "think about the warranty" stage, so I am...

Just for grins: A few different LUXs. Which one?

Be happy you have dealers. As in, more than one. My entire state (Oregon) has one, and no dealer in another state (California or Washington, for example) is allowed to sell to me because of where I live. Land Rover calls it "Dealer Protection". I guess the bright side is that it makes...

    extended leather pack

I think it looks good on the Almond and Arabica interiors, but I think it's unnecessary on the the black dashboards (ebony and ivory). If I was going with Almond I would probably get it, but I am leaning strongly towards the Ivory interior (which has the black dash) and if I do go that way I'm...

Things you wish you knew when you purchased your first Land Rover

There is some great info in this thread. Thanks everyone! I don't want to put the cart before the horse, so I'll just save this info for now and hopefully put it into practice if I can finalize an LR4 soon. Cheers.

Been thinking about switching it up...

Heck, a top of the line Jeep Grand Cherokee (Summit model, not the SRT) will run you $55K+ for the V8 And there's nothing wrong with that car, but it's not in the same class, either in terms of luxury or off-road prowess. I test drove one and found it to be nice, until I got in an LR4...

Been thinking about switching it up...

I believe this to be the case too. Now you guys actually own LR4s, so you know a lot better than me, but I mention it because I didn't realize what one could get from an LR4 when I started shopping. I was looking at the FFRR and the RRS, and not giving the LR4 a second look. I assumed it was a...

Just picked up my new '13 Corris Gray HSE

Thank you BOTH for the heads up that this method is even an option. I spoke with my dealer today and we are either going to find a vehicle I want that is "in transit" or add the features I want to an order they have coming in October. I hope to have something finalized early next week. Very cool!

I understand what you mean, but I probably won't share your sentiment until after I settle on one. :) Right now it's a bit of a pain.

Just picked up my new '13 Corris Gray HSE

I've been told the same thing out west. No orders, period. I hope for your sake that you aren't in a "protected" area with that dealer. For me, there is only one LR dealer in the state, and my zip code prevents me from buying an LR from any other dealer except that one. As a result, my...

Difference from 19" to 20" wheels?

What 18s are you looking to get, if you don't mind me asking? And are you doing so because of all your off-roading?

Things you wish you knew when you purchased your first Land Rover

Hey folks, me again. :) I am very close to pulling the trigger on a 2013 LR4. This would be my first Land Rover and since I see a lot of good tips on this board, I thought I'd ask: knowing what you now know, what do you wish you knew when you first bought yours? For example, should I be...

    Vision Assist or Climate Comfort?

He might be dealing with the same problem I'm dealing with: finding a 2013 with all the options I want is next to impossible. Seriously, I have never seen any new vehicle like this. I'm sure it's because of the upcoming 2014s, as well as the niche market the LR4 normally fits into anyway. It's...
