    How are you getting 20mpg?

I get around 20 on the highway, but it seems I get better mileage without the cruise on- probably due to downshifting, on both uphill and downhill sections of highway. Live in northern Virginia, so hills are unavoidable. Oddly enough, load doesnt seem to make a difference, except when I put...

    Tow bar key

I broke one of mine off in the handle, so now I'm very careful with the remaining key.

    Sliders

I would say if you need a good step, go with the reglar standoffs. Having seen them on another truck, its a very easy step to stand on while loading. With the slims, you can still get the ball of your foot on there without opening the door. I guess the option 3 with the plate underneath...

    Sliders

Those are the Goodyear MTRs, I dont run them all the time, just happened to still have them on from my last outing.

    Sliders

OK, fair enough about the pics, these are from the garage, but this will give you an idea of how far the slims stand off.

    Sliders

Just finished installing the sliders from Rover Specialties. I went for the option 2, slim. The whole install took me about 6 hours. If I can get them installed with my 13 year old son's help, anyone should be able to do it. I wouldn't say it was easy, but it wasn't hard either. Oh, and I...

    Towing Issue Again !!

Those specs make sense to me. The trailer's manufacturer most likely designed the trailer so that the tongue weight would be in a range where mid sized vehicles can tow it, that seems to be the trend. Your LR3 will tow those weights without a problem. By your calculations, the loaded trailer...

    LR3 Towing question

I'm not sure about sway bars, but I understand that LR does not recommend using weight distributing hitches. With a 375 pound tongue weight, and gross weight well below max, you shouldn't need one.

    LR3 Towing question

I tow an Airstream the weighs about the same, 19' long, but has a higher hitch weight. I use the Prodigy brake controller, no sway bar. I really like the Prodigy controller, if you don't already have one, you'll need a brake harness- the Frod F-150 harness is an exact fit. The staff at the...

    Side Protection Tubes

OK, this thread has convinced me to pull the trigger and order the RS sliders. I saw them last year at ROAV's Mid Atlantic Rally, liked them then, but now with the slim option, I can't resist.

    LR3 Cargo Mat

I've got the rollable mat, it fits well and it works great for me. Its good to keep muddy paws off the carpet. Its also easy to roll up if you need access to rear seats. If you have or plan to get a dog guard, I dont think the rigid mat is compatable.

    LR3 Diesel-US

I was just in the UK and took the factory tour. Seemed like all the vehicles they use for the off road course are diesels. They put me in a RR with the TD V8- rated at just over 30 mpg highway! Smooth as silk too. Boy I would love to see LR bring the diesels here.

    Skid Plates...

I really like the Rover Specialties sliders and may go ahead and order them, but has anyone noticed any handling difference with the increased weight?

    Wipers

I second the endorsement of the Silblades. They're not cheap, but they last a long time and keep quiet.

    The headlight show!

Mine do the same dance everytime. It wasn't until about a year after I had the truck that I realized they do the dance even in the daylight. (I leave mine on auto all the time) I guess the motors do the alignment/test even if the light bulbs aren't actually on.

Do car washers strip of your LR3's wax?

I'm on a similar twice a year wax regimen, and stick to hand washes except in cold weather when I turn to the brushless washes. I always read that they are hard on paint and maybe they wear down the wax, but I figure its better to knock the dirt and corrisives off. Most those brushless have...

    Off Road Tire/wheel recommendation....

I bought a set of the MTRs (19s) from tire rack. Much better price than the local Goodyear dealer and they make a HUGE difference offroad. Not sure if I would want to run them all the time, there is a bit more noise, but it was worth it for me to have a second set.

    LR Experience photos

goinsurfin- How did you book the factory tour/experience? I'm looking for a good side trip next time I'm in the UK. I can't get into the right window to get further details on the Land Rover website. Maybe calling is best?

How long to install rock sliders?

I'm seriously considering ordering these. Is the driver's side slider shaped to fit over the compressor? It looks like it dips down a little from the frame.

Help Picking up new Tires... HSE

My Michelins probably have about 12k miles on them and they've held up well. I don't know how to measure the tread depth accuratley, but they look to have almost all the tread. They have done much better than the Goodyear HPs. Everything I read on Tire Rack about the Michelin treadlife was...
