Here is my question, if there are software patches you have no choice but to take it to a dealer, my next issue is that I noticed that if you have a EAS compressor failure, they redesigned it so you have to update the software, are we talking the same thing?
So here is something I just found out, the day your EAS compressor fails on your LR3, it is not about doing a simply swap out, the thing was redesigned you have to take it to a dealership and have them update the software. WOW have that thing fail around where I am living now at this is a huge...
"Brakes, it's a spell checker issue" word correct is even worse. Far from nonsense, point being LR needs to set a standard that some of us except. Sales dropped because of production?? Sales tanked because people ran away from them in droves during the recession (lets just talk Discovery, the...
My question is that if you know they break and cost a lot to fix them, what was the real reason you chose LR4? I have an 06 and 120K miles, I am done with warranty so I am skiddish now. Here is what I have found I have decided not to do a new LR4...reasons all major issues that have cropped up...
Your drinking the cool-aid that todays engines needs synthetic, hello "Marketing-advertising". I just had mine changed last week for less than $70, your being bent over. There are 8 quarts of oil in this thing, what breaks down oil is gasoline and all the additives along with heat... it seeps...
Same here did them myself, these things eat breaks/rotors and it is just stupid, rotors and the breaks are undersized period. This is a heavy vehicle and LR has not address the issue for +10 years and counting. It is well known and ignored.
Very good points. EAS is has its positives I seriously use it all the time, for those of us who are a bit more heavy on the off road side of things, we are in areas that if that system fails your riding on your frame, and it is not getting fixed anytime soon. An option for (coil overs) has been...
Expedition Portal rates the 4Runner as one of the top 10 over landing vehicles, above the LR, again for the main reason...reliability. You will note there top vehicles are Toyota...yet LR apparently dismisses the facts. I doubt under Tata that reliability will improve over what Ford did, Ford...
I agree with what you have to say, LR is not listening to those of us who actually use the vehicle. However, I hope they never get rid of Fords split end gate, it is great, you can sit on it in the rain, get some shelter/shade from the sun, it is awesome for tail gating.
I would also go with something else after having my LR3 for 6 years, each year it has become more and more "soccer mom'd". The suspension is not the end all be all, it actually is far to complicated, if anything goes wrong on a trip your basically screwed. The inability to add larger tires...
Over these past 30 years the serviceability of a vehicle has become outright stupid and over the top. It has reached a point where I truly believe laws have to be crafted to hold engineers and the auto industries feet to the fire, and I am a person believes in no government intervention. "Wear...
walk away, the clunks are control arm bushings probably rear also, 1500 to 2200 in repairs. Who knows with the suspension not working right, another 1200 to 1500. Just a guess of nearly 4k in repairs.
Yes for fairly light off road and typical use bushings should not fail like this. Brakes are another issue with this, at 120k I am on my 2nd set, I did all the rotors (again) since I did it all myself and saved 500.
The bushing issue needs to be addressed and the small breaks.
Right before my warranty was up they replaced mine also, yet this just yells out a design defect that apparently the replacement does not address or have they improved the bushings, I am finding nothing about a design change to the control arms and bushing. Also aftermarket upgrades are just...
Has the issue with bushings and lower control arms for the new LR4s been resolved, or is this still an issue. Bushings going out at 55k is a major issue that just should not happen on a vehicle that is designed for off road.
I lived in Las Vegas, had nearly no issues, parked it outside all day long for 3years
other than the slight greying of the plastic, which you can buy the stuff to make it look nice and black again. Other than that I was thinking of having the plastic sprayed with Line-X, fender flare, bumpers...
