    Brake Caliper 97 Disco

Replaced both rotors and pads but one caliper mine doesn't pull. I wouldn't replace both if one froze up like mine did. I'm safe but on the cheap.

Need new power steering pump for the 4TH TIME!

One would have to think am I that unlucky, is the pump working hard because other steering parts are bad or are they putting the wrong fluid or bad batch of transmission or pwr steering fluid in it. I'd be asking to check the steering components out. In addition never hold the steering all the...

    Cruise Control

The plus and minus ramps to the left as you call them are the gain or volume controls for the radio if it is like my discovery. Turn the dial on the radio up and touch the up or down ramp and see if I'm correct. There should be a switch to the right of your wheel by the clock that activates...

    Machine Gun starter

Amen to what joey said. If it starts strong in every other situatation it has to be the battery especially if it is over 4 years old. And buy a transistor radio ha ha ha.

    roof rack light wiring

Didn't the harness come with relays and fusing? If not buy a couple of 30 amp 12v relays. Amf, potterbrummfield, and many others make these. Typically are the same relays used in your rover, marine equipment, machine tool equipment, and ect. May be purchased at auto parts, auto stereo...

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

Look at my post 8/7 4:29 in this post your ecu should be interchangeable with the 95 should be an amr 1173 ecu if it is follow the pin out test procedure it is a troubleshooting test that will test the pump and hoses it is not the only test but it will test them and pretty much tell you if the...

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

Sounds like you've tested properly. But why not just energize the vacuum pump to the vehicle? You've got to know if it is worlking properly and has enough suction. Was the tee broken whilst trying the new ecu? IIRC you already tested all the hoses properly and the pump as well. Didn't you ?

    Replacing my Engine

I'd think about replacing the intake manifold gasket as well. Most of them leak out the back side. Went to a British car show this summer a fellow with a spitfire had dumped a rover v8 in it. Claims they make a really good carbon fiber gasket that is much improved.

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

I'm hoping joey's right. Sure seems like if it kicks in and accelerated that would me the case. But I thought you already checked that. Albeit sounded like the diaphram went back kinds slow. Mine goes really fast I mean in a second. I want to order one of those 38 dollar ecu's so keep me...

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

Plenty of ideas. Best to go thru the whole troubleshooting guide. However gut feeling is suggestion is either a vacuum leak or worse yet the used ecu is not working properly. You didn't pay the $68 dollars mine cost not that that is any counselation. Might be the relay in the ecu or just...

    Electrical connectors

I have had connectors that litterally welded themselves together simply from the current flowing thru them. I hav'nt had that much trouble with my discovery. The toughest being the cc ecu connector. As far as tools go there are extraction tools made for most all connectors. Albeit some these...

    Electrical connectors

What connectors from what sockets? Some of them have a catch that a jewelers screw driver type tool is required on both sides of the connector and others are just darn snug.

Rotor and brake pad replacement costs!

My rotors went 130,000 with one pad change( front end). Purchased rear pads and rotors but hav'nt changed them out yet as rotors still meet specs. Did change rear pads once. Go for the oem parts as they are good quality and insurane companies don't like off brands. My driving is mostly off...

Oil change - Dealer vs. Jiffy Lube

Yeah to the above response so eloquantly put. Seriously doing all that one can on your own is what the college kids say is a zen thing. Having never gone to college ( but holding a high profile great job) I love to tell the mucky mucks I do all my own work. Don't mind getting dirty and...

Oil change - Dealer vs. Jiffy Lube

At least every six months depending on conditions dust, heat, and how hard you drive. But know this I would no sooner let anyone but myself work on my vehicle. Not even the stealership. If you take it to anyone take it to a reputable independent shoppe. It cost a lot more to not have your...

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

Yes commrad beilzit we must watch what we say big brother might be watching. They may want to pull our combustion engines and replace them with solar panels and windmills. Please let us know if the ecu does the trick. Where did you order it from? And how much did it cost if you don't mind me...

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

The reddish paint like stuff is an epoxy and yes a real pain. The last discussion about a month ago someone said they took a buffer to it got it off, resoldered and it worked. I found no bad solder joints on my original nor my junkyard replacement. The junkyard replacement ecu lasted...

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

According to roverland parts the 99 d1 ecu is the same as a 95 d1 therfore all testing should be same thing

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

Yeah throw a relay in. Chances are it's like all the other relays regular old potter brumfield . But I'm betting on the ecu personally. The cheapest way is to buy the blankety blank electronics manual as I did it's seperate from the workshop manual but is very complete and kept me from...

    Annoying Rattle

Joey is wrong: he doesn't go off roading he goes off mudding. And from the looks of his vehicle with the windows down as half the mud is in the cab!!!! Joey if you go mudding please remember to either keep your wheels straight away whilst rooster tailing mud or roll the windows up!!!!!!!

    95 Disco I

Those dyes are ok sometimes...... However in the refrigeration trade on a highpressure side I've seen it simply spray the dye everywhere and actually make it more difficult to find the leak. I know my valve covers leak more like a sweat. Engine looses about a quarter quart of oil every 1000...

What relay is missing? Is it the CC disable relay?

If the bellows are slow seems to me it indicate a leak or bad pump suction as mine is very quick and pulls all the way back in say about 5 seconds or less. How are you testing this are you just putting voltage on the pump? And don't forget about the speed sensor. In my vehicle you have to...
