    Wheel bearing wonder

As stated on vacation changing brake rotors and a frozen caliper on my 95. Surprise surprise removed hub on passenger side and found grease seal in backwards, that is cavity inward lip facing out. Plenty of grease in bearings and seal pushed against it. Surprised to see the wheel bearing were...

Thank you so much joey!!!!! You are a truly on top of the game of knowledge for the go to. I read and comprehened all three article and I suggest everyone to read at least the second one dealing with the stats. It will have you reading the other two. Make me a bit uneasy using the sythetic...

    Lucas sythetic brake fluid

Thanks joey for the quick reply. I knew that their was a difference of some sort. The other point was the lower boiling point. I never did find a fluid that was as high as required. Close but not as high. Whereas castrol sythetic is at 329 not the 400 or above. But it's not a race car and...

    Brake Noise 97 Disco SE7

Sounds like the pads didn't come with new hardware. Retaining pins and springs. I tend to use oem parts that is original equipment manufacturer. Ok maybe not on everything, but defenitely when it comes to brake jobs. The insurance companies like it. The person driving ahead of you likes it...

    Cruise cntrl rebuild

I just love this forum. Browsing thru cruise control discussions found a netherland connection for rebuilding the ecu. Has anyone had dealings with this company? My 95 is scheduled for a ton of work whilst I'm on vacation in June. Only then will I retest the entire cruise system. I'm...

    High mileage?

Yeah to add to Joey's comment. You could have a middle daughter like me. She could ruin a Sherman tank. She has never been allowed to drive my rover. Gas pedal to the metal. Braking thru the firewall she is destructive. I have climbed a lot of rock, gone thru swamps, off roading in a...

    Parting out

Keep me in mind if you are interested either way. Seems like a shame to part it out. It to me is the last of the good rovers. No offense to others with newer rovers but it was truly English . Looked at a LR. Looked typical ford to me. Hosed up independent frnt suspension and all.

How long did you research Land Rovers before you purchased one?

Sat in it. Test drove it. Crawled under it. Gave the lady doctor her money for two year old 95 discovery and never looked back. Better than any Detroit iron and I worked for the auto companies.

    Parting out

How about your cruise control ecu is it working? In addition I might be interested in other parts as well. I'm in Kalamazoo Michigan. Did you not get it running because of the starter issue?

    Starter removal

Best to use a 5/16th Allen socket with an extension. Remove any rd grit from inside the Allen bolt head. Make sure if you don't already know to undue negative battery lead before working.

    No start

Heck I took my starter out hooked jumper cables to the battery put the grnd on the battery and touched the positive to the stud. Now that's a bench test,. Won't tell you if it's sluggish but it will tellyou if it works at all. When I tore it down like I said before all of the bearings and...

    No start

Cannot help but reply: if like in mine the starter fell apart it created an open circuit it will not pull current. Or maybe if some of the parts inside were shorting it would pull too much current. Or maybe the solenoid is not working.

    No start

Oops reread your trouble. So it will not turn over in park but will turn over in drive. Got to think it is a faulty transmission range selector switch.

    No start

What do you mean "like trying to start with it in drive". Does this mean it will not turnover?if it willnot turn over could be many things my 95 needed an alternator at 45,000 mile intervals. The last no turn over was the starter. The started started by being sluggish next I knew nothing...

    Max Speed in Diff Lock

I could be wrong but I think it's ok to go high speed in lock. I have never done it as if I'm going that fast there is no reason to lock it in my opinion as it is full time 4 wheel in my 95 discovery. Going In reverse should unwind it as the manual states.

Do you have the cruise cntrl ecu and did it work. I bought one at a junkyard in ca and it didn't if you do and it works how much do ya want for it?

    Anti lock brake

Adding to joey's directions . Be careful prying or pulling them out. Check the end of it for cracks. Hopefully they did not destroy them whilst reassembling after installing new bearings. Push all the way back in and they will reseat themselves. Ps: sometimes one may think a mechanic has...
