Whats the purpose of these aluminum blocks ?

It's been said before, but this is not a great look for Land Rover. I agree that as far as my personal taste goes, no running boards is a better look on the LR4. Now one other question-- why do you hate your carpeted floor mats so much! And I admire your bravery in parking a Land Rover over a rug.

Alternative to Dealer Only Castrol Professional "E" for 2014-16 LR4's

I think you may also be wise to shop your filter options. Guesstimating that you paid around $12/qt at the dealer, so that means they soaked you for a $60-70 filter. People here are finding quality filters in the $10-25 range and having good results.

    Costco's Kirkland Signature 5W-20?

Every time I see the name of this thread on the main page, my mind thinks of all the highly rated booze that Costco sells under the Kirkland brand. But that’s my issue to deal with... If I were to go with a Castrol alternative, I would have plenty of time-tested and well-regarded options to try...

    Brake noise question

I'm curious about the bedding process you used, but separately, have you inspected the pads since that sound began? I recall a thread here where someone picked up a small stone or foreign object and it made a horrendous sound.

2015 LR4 HSE Windshield Wiper (Front + Back)

This is hilarious. But it did make me think that it would be a nice feature if the nozzles had different modes that would kick in depending on TerrainResponse program chosen. For around town, a little diverter/atomizer would deploy for that country club cucumber water spritz you referenced...

    Removing 3rd Row Seat Belt

Tell me more about the cargo nets on either side of the loadspace, especially the one on the passenger side. I always wondered about the purpose of that indent there. Are the nets a custom bolt-on job? Never noticed them in the accessories catalog but may have missed them.

    Oil change and 64K service

Thanks for sharing your UOA results. I will be following your reporting. My dealers are still offering 5W-20 for purchase but I'm curious about alternatives. I'm at 67K miles with no known issues and a very quiet engine. Of course that begs the question, why change horses now? It's a fair...

    Low coolant. No leak?

Hi, as you've probably seen, both @Troy Angrignon and @Quijote perfectly explained what I meant! Re the cause of your overheat, my gut take is that the accidental gear shift didn't cause it, unless you over-revved the engine for a significant amount of time while it was in neutral. You said...

    LR 4 Retired

I have had two Expeditions over the years, one of the early models that was more rounded, and then the refreshed version that was more angular in stance. I must agree-- the interior space is enormous and the cargo space is vast. Road trips in the Expy are a nice comfy floating treat. I even got...

    Manhattan Jaguar Land Rover

FWIW, my current 2013 LR4 was purchased from a used car dealer in Great Neck, but the Carfax showed that it had service performed at Manhattan JLR. Based on the fact that the vehicle ran flawlessly when I bought it and ever since (I got it with 30K on the odo and have added about 35K miles to...

    Winter is here. Floor Mats?

Aah, my mistake. I missed your initial reference to D5 and it threw me off. I thought I had missed some accessory option for the LR4.

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

I searched on STP oil filter in AMZ and found the IFJF PF659 product that purports to fit our LR4s. I should have searched further to get an actual STP brand but I went ahead and ordered it. When I got this one today, I noticed right away that thge texture of the actual filter fins was a lot...

    DIY Oil Change for LR4

I considered that same fact when I placed my order earlier today. I have a Mahle filter on the way and just bought oil from the dealer, but I’m pretty sure the STP filter will arrive first so I’ll give it a try this weekend.

    Winter is here. Floor Mats?

Funny I was never aware that such an extension existed. Given the hassles of the OEM main cargo mat (when you need to deploy the 3rd row) I doubt that this extension would be practical other than for occasional trips to the dump or to Home Depot, but it would be nice to have on hand.

    Water in Passenger Footwell

Use forum search field on "water passenger footwell" and there are several threads with more info but what @avslash said is best practice for this issue. Where in MD are you? We have a fairly active and friendly owners group in the DMV with members from several neighboring states. DM me if...

    LR 4 Retired

Nice. My one and only gripe with the 3rd row has to do with the size/weight and brute thickness of the factory cargo mat. It's tough to deploy the 3rd row on-the-fly without first planning for it by removing that mat. I don't see any way around it with the stock mat which I use 99.9% of the...

    Heated Steering Wheel Not Working

Mine gets pleasantly warm but never toasty hot. I haven't noticed any cycling of the temp. On my '04 Jag, that big beautiful wooden wheel would get piping hot. If memory serves, it had settings just like the seatwarmers in our LR4s. On the top setting, I could easily feel the heat from the wheel...

    LR4 upper tailgate randomly opens

Some people would pay a lot of money for that feature. I'm sure he meant that it just unlatches a pops open a bit.

    D-Rings for towing

Google "shackle recovery gear" for all the details. Short story, these go on the front and/or rear recovery points on your Rover. They are used in conjunction with a snatch strap during recovery operations when you are being yanked, or yanking someone else, out of trouble. They have other uses...
