It is awesome... Not sure I would do it again though.

    The Snorkel

I considered buying one for a while, but have had good luck in deep crossings without it. I believe the airbox is "uphill" from the exterior vent, therefore providing you a few submerged seconds. I wasn't at the deepest part in this crossing and made it no problem. I had to cross it again...

    Extended Warranties

Just bought the Ford ESP Premium Care warranty from Chas at Longmont Ford in Longmont, CO. They are now offering, if bought before 60,000 miles, a 4 year 48,000 mile warranty and a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty. The 4 year was $2,900 and the 5 year was $4,040... I bought the 5 year 50,000 mile...

    Extended Warranties

New info from the dealer. You can only get the Ford Premium Care 4/48,000 if you are under 60k miles. After that, you can still buy the lesser Ford warranties, but they generally do not cover the expensive items in our trucks... also, they are only 2 years and 24k miles... so, buy the ESP...

I thought you couldn't get the ESP after 60k. Am I mistaken?

Easy care extended warranties???? YES??? NO???

Ford Used Car ESP 4 year 48,000 mi. extension to your current age and warranty. Must purchase before 60k. This is the highest end Premium Care. Longmont Ford in Longmont Colorado quoted $2,900. Can put 10% down and pay 0% over 17 months. I am going to pull the trigger even though I have a...

    grinding noise

I was out wheeling in Lefthand Canyon on Big Mama Hill this weekend. As I was backing down a section to take another shot at it, I heard a really nasty metal on metal grinding sound coming from the left front wheel. I was running the rod mod in "offroad" height and running 265/65 18 Hankook...

    NEW PRODUCT LR3/D3 Underbody Protection

Hey guys, I can personally vouch for Land Rover Flatirons. Dave and the rest of the service department are top notch and do some very legitimate off road trips. They also have a very loyal customer base because of their top notch service. I would highly doubt that you will get hosed on the...

Windshield or Wind Screen Has a Haze To It

I had the same issue. Basically, the two pieces of glass that are meshed together around the heating element are starting to delaminate and mmoisture has gotten in. Land Rover will replace the windshield if you are under warranty. If not, then hopefully you have a glass replacement plan on...

    On board air (cheap)

I tapped into the tank and wrote a thread about it sometime last year. It is a fun project, but is not very practical for anything other than an emergency. It sets off the suspension light after a little while, so four tires would be really annoying. It is fine for filling up a deflated spare...

Normal for new brakes to squeak?

Thanks for the update. I will put that order in as soon as the brake light comes on.

What did you do to your LR3 today?

Twice a week? Damn man, you have some serious time on your hands or an awesome budget for the car wash. Between kids, cycling and work, the rover never gets any love. If you want to come make my car shine like that though, I would love it :) Black does look awesome when its clean.

What did you do to your LR3 today?

Wash it? I think mine gets washed every time I take it to the dealership... i.e. monthly maybe. I guess I just gave up on the clean look and proud of it. That's what growing up in Alaska and now living in Colorado will do to ya.

Normal for new brakes to squeak?

wynmac, are you cool with the "OEM" rotors or would you have gone with the full LR replacement if you had to do it over again? BTW, I spoke with AB a couple weeks ago and they recommended not going with the Textstar pads due to some negative feedback they had been getting. That was an...

cooper tires and crappy gas milage

I average about 16 mpg in mixed commuting from Louisville to Boulder. On roadtrips to Durango, I see 19 to 21 depending on what's on the roof. That is based upon the trip computer readout, which has to be adjusted by ~ +6%. I am probably average on the acceleration (don't floor it or granny...

Do we "trust" Texstar brake pads?

For what its worth, the gripes were about brake dust, squealing and pad life. Nothing was mentioned about stopping power. For the low price, who cares if you have to replace them sooner, right.

Do we "trust" Texstar brake pads?

I need to get new brakes in the next couple weeks as well. I spoke to the guys at Atlantic British and they recommended stepping up to the $389 kit with the OEM pads over the Textstars due to some complaints that were coming in. He said for the extra $50, it was well worth it. They haven't...

    Rocky Mountain summertime trails.

I would for sure. We have a new baby, so time for overnights is a little tight until my wife is off for the summer. I could probably do Moab in July or August. Until then, weekend day trips are cool. I would say the trails will be ready to run in a couple weeks. There is still a lot of snow...

    Rocky Mountain summertime trails.

Paul, Didn't know you were on this forum. Good to hear from you. We'll have to do a couple trails once the snow clears out a little more. That last run of the year at Jenny Creek was fun, but I found out after that I crushed my right exhaust pipe like a pancake. May is probably good...
