Big LR4 issue, cut losses and sell vs fix?

I have 2011 LR 4 HSE Lux with 178k. I have put money into my truck and will continue to do so. At any cost, the truck is still worth it. $7k paid out over a year is $600ish....sill cheap for great truck. I also get AAA premium for 200 mile towing radius and trip interruption insurance. I go to...

Mattress Pad in the back - Recommendations?

I go camping all of thew time in my LR4. I use 2 Thermarest pads that can also be hooked together for coverage of the entire back area. The pads can self inflate and also come with an inflator plugged into the cigarette socket. I inflate mine that way. The pads are about 4 inches thick with...

    Well crap!

Looks beautiful and I would be really pressed to give up on it. The body style is too good a feature to go to the 5. Mine...2011...has 169k on it. I too have done everything right including the timing chain. I am never giving my truck, HAL,up. Im planning on this being my last and best...

Why is the "most capable 4x4" so fragile ?

I have a 2011 with the larger engine. I think 2014-2016 were not good years for this truck. I have 165k on mine and have done the lower control arms, the timing chain and all of the scheduled maintenance. Stay clear of potholes is the best thing for the control arms.I had them done at 70k...

    Hard Choices

Sorry, but I prefer the LR4 MY 2011, which is my vehicle. Yes, I have done the timing chain and transmission fluid change and keep up the maintenance. I drove a load Jeep and find them too much like a car in height and sight lines. I am willing to pay for repairs on mine, since it is paid...

2015 LR4 HSE Windshield Wiper (Front + Back)

I am using dealer blades and find them inferior. I bought the PIAA ones the time before last and they created an annoying click at the end of the stroke just over my head on the driver's side.

    5.0 v8 timing chains

Mine are finished. I routinely go to areas that is far away from services. It's a peace of mind decision. Now, I feel very safe.

    5.0 v8 timing chains

I was advised at my 150,000 mile service that my timing chain was making some noise and was advised to do it sooner rather than later. I had time to shop the repair/replacement and had it done in Portland where the Pacific Coast Rover Club VP is the main LR mechanic. So, it was for both reasons.

    5.0 v8 timing chains

I just had my timing chain done and my 2011 LR4 HSE Lux has 153000 miles on it. The tensioner for the oil pump was also changed out.

All Weather or Snow Tires ?

I live in WA state and I travel to snow many times. I find my Bridgestone Dueller Alenza plus work fine. I carry chains called Trax 4x4 that are super easy to put on, even in driving snow storms. The TRAX are the ones that LR Portland recommend. Oregon requires that everyone carry chains.

    Share your most expensive repairs

I have 160000 on my 2011 LR 4 HSE LUX AND JUST FINISHED DOING THE TIMING CHAIN AND NEW WATER PUMP...about $5700 for all parts and labor. Small investment for a great vehicle since it is long paid for. The boys at Matrix Portland have seen this 10-13 MY at over 350,000 miles without real...

    Worth upgrade LR3 to LR4?

So, I had 2 LR 3s and sold them for a 2011 LR4 HSE Lux. Why? Tow assist, trailer assist, more horsepower, larger brakes, better transmission, nicer interior, better sound system, newer. I hav e had it since 32k miles and now at 151k miles. No regrets at all...not a one. I like the LR 3...

I think the side stools became necessary when they changed the monique frame to a lighter metal.

New 2013 LR4 owner with a couple questions.

Their warranty is great. I had failure of my truck in the middle of Eastern Oregon. I got a tow and lodging, meals and repair with a loaner from LR Portland. The hardest part was making conversation with the tow driver for 6 hours.

LRNA says that using a Rhino or other hitch bar will lessen the max weight the truck can carry.

Tires. Michelin Defender LTX M/S vs Bridgestone Dueller H/L Alenza plus

I am on my 2nd set of Duellers. The last set went 75000 miles. I do mostly highway driving. They are great in rain, snow, mountains, a little off road too. Now Costco will not install them on the LR series because of their lift system, so I bought them from the dealer.

    Snow Chains

I use Trax snow chains, as sold and recommended any Land Rover Portland for a fraction of the price of the LR ones. Plus they fold up nice and go on in a jiffy without clearance issues.
